PLEASE NOTICE

Standard paper weight for systems is 80 g/m2 for monochrome machines. Since using these standards result in optimum system

performance, all specifications on performance, reliability, maintenance and replacement based on those standard papers. Using thick

papers, labels, transfer and polyester films continuously can increase the wear and tear on replacement parts and consumables – meaning

your servicing costs will go up. Use the bypass or the lower tray from the paper feed unit when working with materials having such

characteristics as polyester films, textile transfer films and labels. Otherwise, you may be faced with double feeding or a higher number of

feeding jams. If possible use subtray when working with materials having such characteristics as polyester films, textile transfer films and

labels. Rollermarks on the copy or print may appear or increased jams can occur. Standard paper weights yield the best possible copy and

print results. Using higher grammatures may influence the quality of the output. Using standard paper weights also guarantees that double

sided copies and prints are made reliably. Different characters of films as well as thick, thin and coated papers may increase the jam rate for

double sided copies and prints.

ADF Sensing Functions

Paper

Follow the media guidelines below for successful printing: Rough, highly textured, limp, or pre-curled papers will result in lower print quality and more frequent paper feed failures. Colored papers must be able to withstand 220 deg C (446 deg F) fusing temperature. Preprinted forms and letterheads should be selected using guidelines found in the User’s Guide. The chemical process used in preprinting may render some papers unsuitable for use with the Konica Minolta Kronos mfp Series. The following paper types are not recommended for use with the printer:

Chemically treated papers used to make copies without carbon paper, also known as carbonless papers, carbonless copy paper (CCP), or no carbon required (NCR) paper

Preprinted papers with chemicals that may contaminate the printer

Preprinted papers that can be affected by the temperature in the printer fuser

Preprinted papers that require a registration (the precise print location on the page) greater than ±2.3mm (±0.09 in.), such as optical character recognition (OCR) forms. In some cases, registration can be adjusted with a software application to successfully print on these forms.

Coated papers (erasable bond), synthetic papers, thermal papers

Rough-edged, rough or heavily textured surface papers, or curled papers

Recycled papers that fail EN12281:2002 (European).

Envelopes with excessive curl or twist exceeding 6.0 mm, those stuck together, those with bent corners or nicked edges, or those that interlock should not be used.

Minimum weight: 75 g/m2 (20lb.)

The following envelopes should not be used: o Envelopes with windows, holes, perforations, cutouts, or deep embossing o Envelopes with metal clasps, string ties, or metal folding bars o Envelopes with exposed flap adhesive when the flap is in the closed position

For best results, printing on new 90 g/m2 (24 lb.) sulfite or 25% cotton bond envelopes is recommended

Under high humidity conditions (over 60%) the envelopes may seal during printing Transparencies

Use letter or A4-size sheets only.

Many Transparencies specifically designed for xerographic copy machines or electrophotographic Printers and MFPs may be used with the Konica Minolta Kronos mfp Series MFPs.

Note: Do Not Use Ink Jet transparencies!

Single-sided transparencies designed for color electrophotographic printers and MFPs may not work well.

Verify Transparencies are only pulled from trays rated for that media.

Recycled Paper

As an environmentally conscious company, Konica Minolta supports the use of recycled office paper produced specifically for use in electrophotographic printers. World-wide recycled papers (including 100% Post Consumer Waste) are consistently used in Konica Minolta printer testing, using chamber tests, using chamber tests for different temperature and humidity conditions. Konica Minolta has found no reason to discourage the use of today's recycled office papers, but generally the following property guidelines apply to recycled paper.

Low moisture content (4-5%)

Suitable smoothness (100-200 Sheffield units)

Suitable sheet-to-sheet coefficient of friction (0.4-0.6)

Sufficient bending resistance in the direction of feed Recycled paper, paper of lower weight (<60 gm2 / 16 lb bond) and/or lower caliper (<3.8 mils / 0.1 mm), and paper that is cut grain-short for portrait (or short-edge) fed printers may have lower bending resistance than is

required for reliable paper feeding. Before using these types of paper for electrophotographic printing, consult your paper supplier. There are many other factors to consider, and these guidelines do not ensure success, but can provide a basis for speaking with your paper supplier. Usage Guidelines for the Scanner Document Feeder

Your automatic document feeder is designed to handle most paper types. However, the following cannot be properly fed by the automatic document feeder:

Paper with clip or staple attached

Paper with ink not totally dry

Paper with inconsistent thickness, such as envelopes

Paper with wrinkles, curls, folds or tears

Tracing paper, coated paper, some carbonless paper

Paper that is too large or too small (use flatbed instead)

Items other than papers, such as cloth, metal or OHP film

Notched paper

Paper with an odd (non-rectangular) shape

Photographic paper

Paper with perforations on its side

Very thin paper

Stapler Option

This stapler output option is a compact, modular, finishing solution. It offers single-position stapling for A4, letter, legal, Folio and Oficio paper sizes, stapling from 2 sheets to 20 sheets per set (20 lb., 75 g/m2).The stapler paper path is designed to handle media weight from 16lb to 24 lb. If 24 lb papers are stapled, the maximum sheets of stapled job may be less than 20 sheets. This stapler has staple low/empty sensor to indicate when the staple supply is low as well as when staples run out. The staple cartridge contains 1,000 staples. Refill staple cartridges are available in package of 5 cartridges. The stapler option does not have a dedicated output bin, it shares the same output bin as the base printer. The stapler has a unique paper path design, and its key mechanism is located on the back side of printer. The stapler has its own power supply which is designed to be customer installable. The stapler output option can only be installed on the Konica Minolta Kronos mfp.
