2年ぶりに6月のサントリーホールを彩る「室内楽の祭典」。充実のベートーヴェン・サイクル、キュッヒル・クァルテットのブラームス、竹澤恭子デビュー30周年記念企画、アジアの新星の躍動など、世代を超えて経験やアイデアを交わしながら親密に築き上げられる音楽は、ライブでしか味わえない格別な魅力を備えています。多彩なプログラムをご用意し、室内楽を身近に感じていただける2週間です。

OPENING NIGHT Produced by Tsuyoshi Tsutsumi 2018Although these artists have performed in different concerts, this is the first time for this particular piano trio. Prepare to be amazed by the three stalwarts of chamber music as they exchange greetings and blend into an ensemble. Kenji Sakai's new piece, which was commissioned by Tsutsumi himself and written in homage to J.S. Bach is another performance that should not be missed.

Cuarteto Casals -THE BEETHOVEN CYCLE I–VIPresenting a performance of Beethoven’s Complete String Quartets after a two-year absence, featuring Cuarteto Casals from Spain. This prominent and trailblazing quartet from southern Europe expresses music freely and without bias. Entering their 20th anniversary since their establishment, the quartet is engaged in Beethoven projects in 12 cities including London, Berlin and Torino. This will be their first public performance of the project outside of Europe.

Küchl Quartett - The Brahms Zyklus I – IIIThis program features an appearance by Küchl Quartett also after a two-year absence. The composer that will be the focus of this session is the great Brahms, who bestowed upon us several compositions of famous chamber works. Each of the three string quartets created by Brahms will be performed individually in turn at each concert. Joined by up -and -coming Japanese guest performers, Küchl Quartett will deliver their musical expertise as they bring the essence of Brahms’ music to life in three concerts.

The unique flat floor design of the Blue Rose (Small Hall) brings the audience into close proximity with the performers, allowing them to intimately feel the chamber music with the entire body, and also provides comfort and accessibility to our patrons who use wheelchairs.

Summer Festival 2018Ongoing since 1987, this modern music festival
known as Tokyo's traditional summer event
features a wide array of genres ranging from
chamber music to opera. Under a new banner,
the festival has assembled a line-up of concerts to
be performed at Suntory Hall. The programs will
highlight Ichiro Nodaira of The Producer Series
and Jörg Widmann of the Theme Composer Series
in the Suntory Hall International Program for
Music Composition. Both are diversely talented
composers at the forefront of the music scene.

In this series, Suntory Hall commissions and premiers a new orchestral work from a world leading composer. In existence since Suntory Hall was established, the series in 2018 features the world-renowned German composer Jörg Widmann’s new piece written for his sister Caroline Widmann. 第28回芥川作曲賞選考演奏会「芥川作曲賞」は、戦後日本の音楽界の発展に多大な貢献をした故・芥川也寸志の功績を記念して、1990年に創設されました。日本人新進作曲家による管弦楽曲の中から、もっとも清新かつ将来性に富む作品を公開の演奏選考会形式により選定し贈賞します。受賞者には新たに管弦楽の作品を委嘱し、2年後の演奏会で初演します。

The 28th COMPETITION of AKUTAGAWA AWARD for MUSIC COMPOSITIONThe Akutagawa Award for Music Composition was founded in 1990 commemorating Yasushi Akutagawafor his significant contribution to the development of the world of music in Japan in the postwar period. This award is given to an up-and-coming Japanese composer whose orchestral composition is selected as the most fresh and promising at a concert open to the public. The winning composer is commissioned to create a new orchestral piece, which is premiered at a concert in 2 years.

サントリーホールを中心に、「音楽のある街」＝アークヒルズ界隈が音楽で盛り上がるお祭りウィーク。サントリーホールでは、辻井伸行＆三浦文彰、ユーリ･バシュメットなど最前線のトップ・アーティストが様 な々切り口で舞台に登場します。期間中は、カラヤン広場でパブリック･ビューイングやこども向けのワークショップ、ミュージック・マルシェなど気軽に楽しめるイベントが盛りだくさん。近隣の美術館や施設各所でも、ロビーコンサートなどが開催されます。

During the festival week centered on Suntory Hall, Ark Hills known as the “Town of Music” is enlivened by the sound of music.At Suntory Hall the stage is graced with performances by top-class artists Nobuyuki Tsujii & Fumiaki Miura, and Yuri Bashmet.At the ARK Karajan Place, a myriad of casual events can be enjoyed during the week such as public viewings, workshops for children and “Music Marche”. Suntory Hall Academy, comprised of the Opera Academy and Chamber Music Academy, is geared toward young musicians who are on their way to becoming professional musicians. In addition to lessons by the world's leading artists, students attend regular workshops to deepen their musical knowledge, and perform in recitals at the Blue Rose (Small Hall).

カルティに迎えています。18年9月より第5期が始まります。
フェロー（受講生）は、ファカルティと共に「サントリーホール
チェンバーミュージック・ガーデン」に出演し、室内楽の楽しさ

プロフェッショナルとして歩みはじめた若手音楽家を対象とした、オペラと室内楽の二
部門からなるアカデミーを開講しています。世界の第一線で活躍するアーティストに学
ぶのみならず、定期的に開かれる勉強会に参加して研鑽を積み、ブルーローズ（小ホー
ル）公演などで成果を発表します。
Since the launch of the Academy in 2010, Tsuyoshi Tsutsumi (Vc) has served as Academy Director, with Kikuei Ikeda (Vn), Wakako Hanada (Vn), and Kazuhide Isomura (Va) joining as the faculty in 2015 (3rd term); and Koichiro Harada (Vn), Hakuro Mori (Vc), and Shigeo Neriki (Pf) in 2016 (4th term). The 5th term will begin in September 2018.The fellows (students) join faculty members in performances during the Suntory Hall Chamber Music Garden and share in the joy and deepness of chamber music.*See p. 2 to 7 for details.
室内楽アカデミーChamber Music Academy
Opera Academy opened in 1993. In 2011, the Academy invited tenor Giuseppe Sabbatini, who currently works as a conductor and singing instructor, to join the executive faculty. At the same time, the Academy welcomed in Akie Amou and Hiroko Noda (sopranos), Makoto Sakurada and Sigeru Imao (tenors), Hideya Masuhara (baritone), and Miyuki Kotouda (piano) to join as the coaching faculty.
1993年開講。2011年よりテノール歌手で指揮者・声楽指導者のジュゼッペ・サッバティーニをエグゼクティブ・ファカルティに、また、天羽明惠・野田ヒロ子（ソプラノ）、櫻田亮・今尾滋（テノール）、増原英也（バリトン）、古藤田みゆき（ピアノ）をコーチング・ファカルティに迎えて開催しています。

「ウィーン・フィル＆サントリー音楽復興基金」は2012年4月に設立、助成事業および公演事業を行ってい
ます。この基金は、ウィーン・フィルハーモニー管弦楽団からサントリーホールを通して「震災に遭われた最
も大切な日本の友人たちへ、お見舞の気持ちを伝えたい」と1億円の寄付の申し出があり、長年、同楽団の
日本公演のパートナーとして信頼関係を構築してきたサントリーグループもこの主旨に賛同、同額を拠出し
てマッチング・ファンドとして設立したものです。
ウィーン・フィル ＆ サントリー音楽復興基金― 音楽を通じた震災復興支援 ―
The Vienna Philharmonic and Suntory Music Aid Fund- Earthquake recovery with music -The Vienna Philharmonic and Suntory launched Music Aid Fund in April 2012 to carry out subsidy programs and concerts. The Vienna Philharmonic pledged a donation of one million Euros via Suntory Hall in hopes of conveying their condolences to their dearest friends in Japan who have been victimized by the earthquake damage. Having built up a bond of trust as a partner with the Vienna Philharmonic through many years of Japan tours by the orchestra, the Suntory Group established a matching fund in order to indicate our support for the offer.

ウィーン・フィル メンバーが継続的に被災地を訪れて開催する、こどもたちとその家族のためのコンサート。2012年は宮城県、13年と15年は岩手県、14年は福島県で演奏。2016年は集大成のコンサートとして、5年間に交流のあった仙台ジュニアオーケストラや岩手・福島のこどもたちとサントリーホールで共演しました。また2017年は震災から1年を迎えた熊本を訪問し、演奏を行いました。
公演事業
The Vienna Philharmonic has continued to visit disaster affected areas and conduct concerts for children and their families. They visited Miyagi Prefecture in 2012, Iwate Prefecture in 2013 and 2015, Fukushima Prefecture in 2014. To mark the culmination of five years of activities in 2016, a concert was held with Sendai Junior Orchestra and children in Iwate and Fukushima from disaster affected areas at Suntory Hall. In 2017, the members gave a performance in Kumamoto which was stricken by an earthquake one year earlier.

被災地または日本全体に活力を与え続けたいという願いにもとづき、全国から目的に沿った活動を募集、「音楽復興祈念賞」を授与し助成金を交付します。これまでに84のコンサートその他の活動に対して、5,678万円の助成金を支給しました。

With the wish to inject vitality into disaster-affected areas or throughout Japan, applications for activities meeting the objectives of the fund are accepted from throughout Japan, and the "Music Aid Award" and grant are awarded to recipients. Up to now 84 concerts and other activities have been conducted, and a total of 56,780,000 yen has been awarded in grants.
