The MC, Gujranwala has sent the Notification to the LG&CD

Department vide letter No. MCG/MOF/T.Suptt./ 49 dated 17-06-2017

for vetting. The LG&CD Department vide letter No. SOTAX(LG)1-

9/2017/(MC Grw) dated 04-07-2017 return the above Notification by

raising some objections.

The MC Grw again sent the said Notification vide letter No.

MCG/T.Suptt./80 dated 15-08-2017 & letter No. MCG/T.Suptt./90 dated

21-09-2017 after removal of objections.

Moreover the LG&CD Department vide letter No. SOTAX(LG)1-9/17

(MC Grw) dated 06-10-2017 again with objections on above quoted

Notification on return the MC, Gujranwala for removal of objections,

which is under process.

Way Forward

• Implementation of ESMF on 100 % EEPs and ADP schemes (2017-2018)

• Environmental and social Management Plans (ESMPs)

• Capacity building session

• Environmental and social screening is completed

• ESMP implementation cost included in estimates and procurement plan

• Preparation of ESMPs is in progress

• Training sessions regarding“ESMF” and experience sharing” was held on 17-08-2017. About 57 personals are being trained regarding ESMF.

• All ESMPs will be approved by EPD Punjab

• Notification of ESMF committee for effective implementation of ESMF

• Need permanent position of Environmentalist in MCG for ESMF sustainability

• ESMPs will be implemented during scheme execution.

• Environmental & Social Monitoring will be carried out to check compliance of Mitigation Measures proposed in ESMPs

• Capacity building sessions for officers, regarding effective implementation of ESMF

• Contractors & labor force trainings to follow health safety attributes at site
