Processing serials for the annex “the new way”

START HERE

(before this step, existingitem records for vols to bestored are deleted)

Start with Sheet Shelf List.

Transcribe the SSL info into excel.

Modify:

Copy the list into a new excelsheet with columns as shown.

Fill in call # and title.

(Need access to a list ofbarcodes. Bonnie has a“barcode generator”)

Assign barcodes.

Prepare a new spreadsheetthat will be used to createitems in Josiah.Column A is barcode,Column B is the volume info.Save as “additem.csv”

Use macro in Macro Express.

Launch character-based Josiah to run the macro.

Go back to the spreadsheetwhich will be used to createFlags. To sort them: In column A(order) number so each row is previous row plus 3.Go down 1/3 and change cell to “2”; go down 2/3 andchange cell to “3”.Copy and “paste-special” the values.

Sort by column A. Save and close file.

Open page_slips_SERIALSdoc. Using “merge” toolbar navigate so source is thefile you want. Change the head info.Then merge to a new doc.

Save this file as word doc.To print, “print” or “save” to PDF.Then print PDF.
