PI ProcessTemplates from OSIsoft gives you that ability. PI ProcessTemplates consists of three products:

● ProcessTemplate Manager● ProcessTemplate Monitor● ProcessTemplate Add-In for PI ProcessBook

ProcessTemplate Manager is used to create and edit templates. Templates may be created based on any point in time into the process or deviation from the mean. The user selects a PI tag or alias and a repeatable time range for variables such as heat phase, paper reel turn-up, and turbine start-up. Templates are created by calculating the maxima, minima or “n” standard deviations of tag value at evenly spaced intervals over the selected time range. The templates can also be imported from external data sources, like Comma Separated Value (CSV) fi les.

ProcessTemplates is used by Dow Corning to improve quality and enableparametric releases of product based on operating conditions. The resulting increase in product yield and elimination of testing bottlenecks accounted fora 40% reduction in batch cycle time.

ProcessTemplate Monitor is aWindows NT/2000 or Windows XP service that compares currentprocess values against the active template, tracking the repeatabilityof the process in real-time. After saving a template to the Module Database, the user creates an “Active Monitor” to oversee a process and determine whether it conforms

to a given template. PI records the process status, designating it as inactive, compliant, or in alarm (high or low), relative to the template.

Microsoft’s ActiveX Server technology is integrated into the ProcessTemplateMonitor and allows programmatic modifi cations to active templates. Loadschedules, for example, can be stored as templates and updated in real-time.The ProcessTemplate Monitor evaluates the current process value versus theactive templates and also checks for updates in the active templates.

Power generators confi dently buy and sell power on the spot markets by comparing true power generationcapacity to load schedules. The generation capacity and load schedules are updatedin real-time.

Real-time process variability alarming leads to improved product quality and increased production effi ciency.

scheduled generation dispatch.

ProcessTemplate Add-In to PI ProcessBook enables you to use PI ProcessBook’s Data Set technology with ProcessTemplates. Data Sets store local calculations,queries and other information within a ProcessBook display. The ProcessTemplate Add-In stores template average and the high/low limits, and absolute or deviation from mean, as a function of time. ProcessBook plots each Data Set along with the corresponding process tag to illustrate process compliance to the template both historically and into the future.
