What is Process Technology ?

The branch of Engineering which is

concerned with processes in which

materials undergo a required

change in composition, energy

content or physical state at a

reasonable cost and in the safest

possible manner.

Johan Sverdrup field centre

RP DP

P1 LQ

The design capacity is 315,000 BOE/day (50,000 sm3/day)

Johan Sverdrup is expected to hold 1.8–2.9 billion barrels (290–460 million cubic meters) of oil

The platform will include between 40 and 50 risers and J-tubes.

The LQ topsides will include the actual living quarters with 450 cabins.

Chemical/Process Engineer

Chemical/process engineers concern themselves with the

chemical processes that turn raw materials into valuable

products.

The necessary skills encompass all aspects of design,

testing, scale-up, operation, control, and optimization,

and require a detailed understanding of the various

"unit operations", such as distillation, mixing, and

biological processes, which make these conversions

possible.

Chemical/Process engineering utilizes mass, momentum,

and energy transfer along with thermodynamics and

chemical kinetics to analyze and improve on these "unit

operations.
