    Procedure for upgrading firmware in GuardPLC 1200/2000

    1.  For GuardPLC 1200 only – Remove the Battery

    2. 

    Connect Ethernet cable & power to the controller3.

     

    Start up RSLogix Guard PLUS

    4. 

    Open file “Guard1200_Firmware_Test” or “Guard2000_Firmware_Test”

    5. 

    In the Hardware Management, click to highlight “[60000] Resource”

    6.  Click Online -> Communication Settings

    7.  Type in the MAC ID of the controller into the MAC ID box. Click “Get”

    a.  The GuardPLC should respond with an IP Address of 192.168.0.99 and an

    System.Rack of 60000 and appropriate Subnet Mask and Default Gatewaysettings shown below.

    b. 

    If it does not, under the “Communication Settings”, type in:

    i.  IP address = 192.168.0.99

    ii.  SRS = of 60000iii.  Subnet Mask = 255.255.252.0

    iv.  Default gateway = 0.0.0.0

    8.  Click “Set Via IP”

    a.  When the Login box appears, hold in the Alt & A keys and the word

    “Administrator” will appear in the User Name boxb.  Click OK

    9. 

    Click Online -> Control Panela.

     

    When the Login box appears, hold in the Alt & A keys and the word

    “Administrator” will appear in the User Name box

    b. 

    Click OK

    10. Click the “OS” tab

    a.  Verify that the CPU OS version is 2.4

    b.  Verify that the COM OS version is 2.8

    11. Click Extra -> Update OS -> Update CPU

    12. Pick the correct file, and wait until completed

    a. 

    When the firmware download is completed, the CPU will re-boot and gothrough it’s power up sequence (about 15-20 seconds)

    13. 

    Click Extra -> Update OS -> Update COM

    14. 

    Pick the correct file, and wait until completed

    15. Once the COM update has completed, the GuardPLC will not longer be

    communicating with the PC. Re-establish communications by:

    a.  Closing the Control Panel

    b.  Re-open the Control Panel by:

    i.  Click Online -> Control Panelii.

     

    When the Login box appears, hold in the Alt & A keys and theword “Administrator” will appear in the User Name box

    iii. 

    Click OK16. Click Extra -> Change System ID -> OK

    17. Click the OS tab

    a.  Verify that the CPU OS version is 4.32

    b.  Verify that the COM OS version is 4.24

    18. 

    VERIFY THE FLASH UPGRADE WAS SUCCESSFUL

    19. Click the Resource State tab

    20. Click the Download icon to download the test program

    a.  If you get an error, click on Extra -> Change System ID -> OKb.

     

    Click the Download icon again21.

     

    When the download is completed, click the “Coldstart” icon, then click Yes

    22. 

    Verify that the controller goes to RUN

    23. 

    Click the Stop Icon, then click Yes

    24. RETURN THE CONTROLLER TO IT’S OUT-OF-BOX STATE25.

     

    Close the Control Panel

    26. 

    Remove power from the controller

    27. 

    Wait for 20 seconds

    28. GuardPLC 1200 ONLY - Carefully re-install the battery. Insert the battery

    making sure that the case is correctly aligned and the pins inside the GuardPLC

    1200 are not bent. Press on the left edge of the case so that the pins seat in the

    connector, then press on both sides of the case until the battery snaps into place.29.

     

    Connect power to the controller

    30. For the GuardPLC 1200: After it’s power up sequence has completed, verify that

    the FAULT LED is illuminated and the RUN LED is flashing.OR

    For the GuardPLC 2000, After it’s power up sequence has completed, verify thatthe upper-left RUN, STOP, and FAULT LEDs are illuminated.
