Procedure for transferring mail on a computer with Oracle Connector for
Outlook
OBS: It is very important to follow the procedure described below – doing it in another way will result in
great difficulties!
Procedure in brief
Copy your contacts to a new PST (e.g. an Outlook.pst on the Desktop)
Do the same for Tasks
Do the same for Notes
Delete profile within Mail (Post) in control panel
Remove Oracle Connector for Outlook, Outlook 2007, Word 2007 and language pack for Office 2007 as
follows:
From the control panel -> ’Programs and Features’, uninstall IN THIS ORDER: Oracle Connector for Outlook,
Microsoft Office Plus 2007 and Microsoft Office Proofing Tools Kit 2007.
Reboot the computer.
Add Microsoft Outlook 2010 from the control panel -> ‘Programs and Features’ -> Microsoft Office Plus
2010 -> Change
Reboot the machine and configure the Exchange account following the procedure described elsewhere.
Contacts, notes and tasks may then be imported – also described elsewhere.
Procedure – in more detail
This guide is based on a Windows 7 domain computer with English as the user interface language and the
Danish office language pack. Individual points may have slightly different names in other
versions/configurations and the procedure may vary very slightly, but the principles are the same.
Exporting contacts
Open Outlook and go to Contacts.
Under File select ’Import and Export’, and then ‘Export to a file’ + Next
Select ’Personal Folder File (.pst)’. Next.
Select Contacts (and ’Include subfolders’, if there are any). Next.
Using Browse, save a new .pst file somewhere where you can find it again.
\\ad.nfit.au.dk\NFDFS\Users\UserID\Desktop\OutlookBU.pst has been used below
(i.e. the desktop on a domain machine) – another location may also be used.
Navigate to the desired location and enter a name for the file.
Click OK.
Exporting tasks
Open Outlook and go to Tasks.
Under File select ’Import and Export’, and then ‘Export to a file’ + Next
Select ’Personal Folder File (.pst)’. Next.
Expand ’Oracle – [Full name]’ .
Select Tasks. Next.
The easiest thing to do is to use the same .pst file as you used for contacts. Click Finish.

Open Outlook and go to Notes.
Under File select ’Import and Export’, and then ‘Export to a file’ + Next
Select ’Personal Folder File (.pst)’. Next.
Select Notes. Next.

Removing a profile
Open the control panel and Mail (Post).
Select ’Show profiles’.
Select the profile and click on Remove.
Click Yes. Click OK and Close.
Removing Oracle Connector for Outlook, Outlook 2007 etc.
Uninstalling Oracle Connector for Outlook.
From control panel open ’Programs and Features’
Find ’Oracle Connector for Outlook’ in the list and select Uninstall.
Click Yes and ignore any warning message from User Account Control (not shown).
Uninstalling Microsoft Office Plus 2007
Find ’Microsoft Office Professional Plus 2007’ and select Uninstall.
Click Yes and again ignore any warning message.
The process may take some time.
Click on Close.
Decline to reboot.
Uninstalling Microsoft Office Proofing Tools Kit 2007.
Find ’Microsoft Office Proofing Tools Kit 2007’ and select Uninstall.
Click Yes.
The process may take some time.
Click on Close.
Allow it to reboot this time.
Adding Outlook 2010
Open control panel and ’Programs and Features’.
Select Microsoft Office Professional Plus 2010 and Change.
Select ’Tilføj eller fjern funktioner’ (Add or remove features) + Fortsæt (Continue).
Find ’Microsoft Outlook’ in the list, click on the small triangle to expand and select ’Kør alt fra Denne
computer’ (Run everything from this machine).
Click 'Fortsæt' (Continue).
The process may take some time.
Reboot the machine and configure the Exchange account following the procedure described elsewhere.
