The OE part is not greaseable, which means that any trapped contamination can’t be flushed. This vehicle requires coating on the ball stud to prevent galvanic corrosion. This corrosion occurs when an uncoated steel ball stud contacts the vehicle’s aluminum steering knuckle. Not all suppliers provide this coating on the steel stud, compromising the integrity of the part. In addition, some suppliers may utilize a low-end plastic bearing that lacks sufficient strength for long-term performance. Also, the geometry of some suppliers’ replacement parts may not precisely match OE specs, creating installation difficulties.
