More Fatalities but Fewer Non-Fatal Injuries at work in 2015
Number of workplace fatalities increased from 60 in 2014 to 66 in 2015.
Correspondingly workplace fatality rate increased from 1.8 per 100,000 employed person in 2014 to 1.9 in 2015.
Non-fatal injuries declined slightly from 2014.
Workplace Major Injuries dropped by 11% from 672 cases in 2014 to 597 in 2015. Minor Injuries also dropped by 9.1% from 12,863 cases in 2014 to 11,688 in 2015
Construction remained top contributor of workplace fatalities with 27 cases (41%) followed by Transportation and Storage 15 cases (23%)
Falls (Incl STF) remained leading incident type for Fatal cases contributing 23 (35%) cases followed by Struck By Moving Objects 10 (15%) and Work-related Traffic 10 (15%) cases.
DO cases involving Cranes increased by 83% from 12 in 2014 to 22 in 2015

Sharing of WSH Accidents
• Prompt communication to industry to prevent similar accidents from recurring at other workplaces
• Accident Notification is communicated early through WSH Bulletin
• Accident Advisory follows when more information is available

• The Institute of Engineers Singapore organised a DfS Masterclass Seminar on 19 Jan 2016
• Included Masterclass Workshop conducted by DfS Expert from UK
• WSH Council organised a DfS Forum on 24 Feb 2016 attended by 450 participants
WSH Regulations | ENGAGEMENT
WSH (Construction) Regulations Focused Group Discussion
• Held on 23 Feb 2016 to gather inputs and feedback from 40 construction industry stakeholders, including professional associations, government agencies and unions
• Key areas discussed included Formwork Safety and onsite Traffic Management

Sharing Best Practices of WAH Safety
WAH Clinics Series
• 3 WAH Clinics conducted for 400 participants
• Targeted engagement with smaller groups of industry stakeholders
• Sharing of issues faced and learning from one another on best practices
WSH Forum: Inspection and Accident Findings
• WSH Forum by MOM Inspectorate conducted for more than 200 participants
• Raising awareness on WAH and other regulatory requirements
• Sharing of accident case studies and how to prevent recurrence
Capability Building and Enhancing Intervention Framework
WAH Toolkit
• Pocket-sized Teaching Aid with daily pointers on WAH safety
• Help Supervisors enhance their communication with workers during their daily safety meetings
• Industry-led project by WAH Taskforce and Partners
Operation Cormorant
• Enforcement operation covering 1,150 workplaces with focus on WAH, crane and traffic safety
• More than 1,900 WSH contraventions were uncovered and close to $450,000 in fines were issued

• 400 participants attended the launch of WSH Council’s festive season campaign
• Raise awareness on fall-related hazards and the prevention measures

Crane Safety Symposium 2015
• Attended by more than 300 stakeholders; Supported by BCA, SCA, SCAL
• Announcements:
1) Enhanced Medical Examination requirements for crane operators
2) Specialised training course to raise Competency of Mini Crane Operators
Operation Heron II
• Focuses on the safe use of Cranes, safe conduct of lifting operations and functionality of safety devices
• 55 worksites were inspected between 15 October and 15 December 2015.
