Re: Information regarding bond and other requirements
The Mobile County Declaration ofResults for the Office of Constable is below.
In order to assume the office of Constable, you must first post a bond in the sum of $1 ,000.00 and have it recorded in the Probate Court, Recording Division, located in the Mobile County Government Center Annex, First Floor, 151 Government Street, Mobile, Alabama. The bond must be filed on or before December 28, 2016.
The charge for filing your bond is $10.50 for a one-page document or $13.00 for a twopage document. The recording fee may be paid by cash, check, debit or credit card. The following information must appear on your bond:
Precinct Number Term of Office: 4 years beginning January 16, 2017 through January 18,2021
The Secretary of State has required the additional SOS-C-FORM-1 be executed by the Judge of Probate. The SOS-C-FORM 1 and a Certificate of Election will be mailed to the address provided by you upon filing your bond. It is incumbent upon you to forward your Oath of Office, SOS-C-FORM 1 and your commission fee to the Secretary of State at the address provided. There are additional fees payable to the Secretary of State to receive your Constable ID card. Please refer to the attached forms.

In order to receive your Commission Certificate and your identification card as required by state law, you must file your original Oath of Office with your County Probate Office and send a copy to the office of the Secretary of State. You should retain a copy for your personal records. For your convenience, we have enclosed an Oath of Office form. You must also post bond.
Except where otherwise specifically provided by law for county taxing officials and judges of probate, the bond for each county official shall be one-half of one percent of the amount budgeted in the then current county budget for activities conducted by or under the direction of the individual county official, but the bond amount for any county official shall not exceed fifty thousand dollars ($50,000).
The Probate Judge of your county must certify to the Secretary of State's office that you were duly elected/re-elected to a four year term, and that you have filed your oath and bond as required by state law. Enclosed is the form (SOS-C-Form-1) to be signed by the Probate Judge and his signature notarized. There is a five dollar ($5.00) commission fee required. *To receive your constable ID card please email a photo (head shot only) and mail a copv of your oath of office with a check for $15.00 made out to I.S.D. as the Finance Department is making the ID cards now.
