ENCOURAGE DEEPER UNDERSTANDING OF SCRIPTURE
When we were baptized, we were baptized into Christ’s death. Take a moment to ponder these profound words. We were baptized into death. In every sense of the word, we are asked to die. This is not just about our final death but about daily deaths due to inconvenience, discomfort, pain, loss, or others’ needs. This is an incredible epiphany given the way we very often approach our lives. We do everything to avoid death, let alone encoun-ter it! Many avoid pain, discomfort, inconvenience, uneasiness, change, interference, and suffering of any kind. We put a lot of energy into finding the easiest and least inconvenient way through many things. Even holding the door open for a stranger or saying hello to someone in the store can be major undertakings. We are called to die. One of the biggest wake-up calls we can have is realizing that life is not about us! There are millions of other people sharing life on this planet with whom I have a relationship. Does my life celebrate those relationships? The most distracting question we can ask is, “What do I want to do?” The more focused, faith-filled question is, “What do I need to do?” What I need to do may not be what I want to do. However, asking this question more frequently will teach us how to more purposefully and intentionally live so we can be a life giving vessel for others. When we learn to live more sacrificially, to put the needs of others before our own, and to not always seek our own self-interest, we become aware of what baptism into Christ’s death is really all about. These are the roots of virtue and the seedbed for justice, tolerance, solidarity, love, and peace. ©LPi

CATECHISM OF THE CATHOLIC CHURCH PART ONE: THE PROFESSION OF FAITH
Section Two: THE CREEDS Chapter One: I BELIEVE IN GOD THE FATHER
Article One: “I believe in God the Father Almighty, creator of heaven and earth”
Paragraph 4: THE CREATOR
"In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth." Holy Scripture begins with these solemn words. the profession of faith takes them up when it confesses that God the Father almighty is "Creator of heaven and earth" (Apostles' Creed), "of all that is, seen and unseen" (Nicene Creed). We shall speak first of the Creator, then of creation and finally of the fall into sin from which Jesus Christ, the Son of God, came to raise us up again.
Creation is the foundation of "all God's saving plans," the "beginning of the history of salvation" that culmi-nates in Christ. Conversely, the mystery of Christ casts conclusive light on the mystery of creation and reveals the end for which "in the beginning God created the heavens and the earth": from the beginning, God envisaged the glory of the new creation in Christ. Catechism of the Catholic Church, §§ 279 - 280.
LITURGICAL EVENTS & NEWS
A Message from Most Rev. Mark
Brennan, Bishop of Wheeling-Charleston
DISPENSATION FROM THE OBLIGATION TO ATTEND MASS
While no member of the Faithful is bound to attend Mass where
impossibility arises, West Virginia borders a number of dioceses in
which Masses are still being publicly celebrated, and many of our
Faithful are easily able to attend those Masses. Owing to the grave
nature of the current public health crisis, and not wishing that an of
our flock be compelled to place themselves unnecessarily at risk, I
hereby dispense all those who reside within the territory of the
Diocese of Wheeling-Charleston from their obligation to attend
Mass. The intention of this dispensation, along with the suspension
of public liturgies in the Diocese, is to encourage the Faithful to
practice “social distancing” and “self-quarantine” to the extent that
their state of life permits, by which we hope to contribute to the
containment and end of the current pandemic.
ST. AGNES NEWS

guidelines to prioritize everyone’s health and safety. You will find the Bishop’s letter and our reopening

LA ECONOMÍA SACRAMENTAL
CAPÍTULO PRIMERO: EL MISTERIO
PASCUAL EN EL TIEMPO DE LA IGLESIA
ARTÍCULO 2: EL MISTERIO PASCUAL
EN LOS SACRAMENTOS DE LA IGLESIA
III.
Y no seas incrédulo, sino creyente." Tomás cayó de rodillas y exclamó: "Señor mío y Dios mío!" Jesús replicó: "Has creído, Tomás, porque me has visto.
