    Harassment (3 incidents)

Pro-life rescuers remember pro-aborts shouting "If you don't like the law, change it! Don't break it!"But when pro-lifers go through the political process and attempt to change the law, the cowardly

pro-abortionists will do anything to protect their precious "right" to slaughter preborn children. In November 2004, Montana state Representative Roger Koopman proposed legislation that would

issue death certificates for unborn children who die as a result of abortions before 20 weeks intopregnancy. Current Montana law allows for the certificate to be written only when an unborn child diesafter that point.

His proposal violently upset abortion lovers, even though it would not impede abortion in any way.

Pro-abortionists harassed him with numerous phone calls and mailings, and also local pizza deliverycompanies and placed fictitious orders bearing his name. He said "It is very personal attacks that havenothing to do with the issue, and in many cases people saying things that are completely removed fromwhat this proposed bill is about." He said that some of the mail he had received contained "very hatefullanguage."

Of his legislation, he said that "It's a small way for our society to acknowledge that a life did exist, even if they didn't get to see a sunrise or blow out a birthday candle."

Jessica Rhoades, executive director of the Montana chapter of the National Abortion Rights ActionLeague (NARAL), reflexively called the idea "mean spirited" and predicted it would be defeated. Shesaid "Honestly, I don't think it will be difficult to defeat."

    Firebombing

This story is an excellent example of the kind of heavy police bias that pro-life activists must endureevery day.

On March 17, 2011, pro-lifers were conducting a 40 Days for Life prayer vigil on the sidewalk nearthe All Family Health Care abortion mill in Kalispell. At about 6:15 PM, a pro-choicer approached

and threw a Molotov cocktail at an elderly woman, Mary Ann Hofmann. Fortunately, his aim was poor, and the device landed behind her and burst into flame.

Pro-lifers immediately called 9-1-1. Police took more than half an hour to show up, and then werevery rude and dismissive to the pro-lifers. The lone officer who showed up simply ignored the elderlywoman who was attacked and walked right past her when she tried to talk to him. He refused to examinethe site where the Molotov cocktail had exploded and he just called sanitation workers to come andcollect the debris. Incredibly, the officer told the 40 Days for Life people that It was reasonable thatpeople would react this way when youre out there protesting on a public sidewalk.

When the coordinator of the 40 Days for Life event called the desk sergeant to complain about theofficers nonchalant attitude, the desk sergeant told him the same thing. The Kalispell police departmentmade it abundantly clear that they would not expend any effort at all in finding the perpetrator, eventhough there were numerous witnesses.

Tom Brejcha, president and chief counsel of the Thomas More Society, said that

There has to be an utter condemnation of the use of violent tactics from both sides of theabortion debate. Any kind of coddling, or treating it as a normal thing would onlyprovoke violent actions. We are appalled by this terrible act of violence, while wereimmensely grateful that Gods grace spared this valiant pro-lifer any serious injury. Butthe reaction of Kalispell police officers after Ms. Trierweiler called them to the scenewas equally appalling, indeed outrageous. We intend to file disciplinary complaintsagainst both the officer who came to the crime scene and the desk sergeant whose tepid, indifferent, and grossly unprofessional response to this blatant act of domestic terrorismshows them both unfit to wear a police uniform and at best deserving of severedisciplinary action. We expect much better from the FBI and we will pursue the matterto the very highest levels of the U.S. Department of Justice if this case is not investigated

promptly and vigorously and once the assailant is identified and apprehended prosecuted to the hilt.

Of course, no pro-choice group condemned this firebombing, which could have killed or maimedan elderly pro-life woman, showing that they instead supported this incident of extreme violence.Additionally, no national news service showed any interest whatever in what was essentially theattempted murder of an elderly pro-life woman. Of course, as we have seen so many times, wheneversomeone throws a Molotov cocktail at an empty abortion mill in the middle of the night, the FBI and theBATFE enthusiastically get involved, and the national press makes it a headline story.
