eMajor Gift Fundraising: What Happens When Roe Goes?Brian CusackWhat if God answers our fervent prayer to overturn Roe vs. Wade? It could happen in just a matter of a few, short years. Will you be ready when abortion decision-making returns to the state level? In order to complete our work, we will need to raise more money than we ever dreamed possible. Get ready! Start today! Your instructor, Brian Cusack, director of Development for Right to Life of Michigan, is a 36-year veteran in the pro-life movement. During that time, Mr. Cusack has led the charge in raising more than 100 million dollars for the cause. “Get ready for when Roe goes. Get ready to raise more money than you ever dreamed possible. Assisted Suicide Battles Rage in Nearly Every State: Is Your State Next? Mary Hahn Beerworth, Scott Fischbach The threat of doctor-prescribed suicide is advancing in the states. Moreover, the next Supreme Court nomination could lead to legalization of euthanasia nationwide. Assisting suicide is now legal in California, Oregon, Washington, Vermont, and, via the courts in Montana. With battles raging in states across the country, the ongoing battle in Vermont will be discussed as will other battles nationwide. This workshop will give background and break open the myths surrounding doctor-prescribed suicide. The speakers will cover the current legal and legislative landscape, describe some different kinds of successful winning (and losing strategies), and talk about what you can do in your own state. In the wake of massive state legislative push and upcoming Supreme Court nominations, it is more important than ever that doctor-prescribed suicide be stopped in its tracks.

Making Media Work for You, or How to Bypass the FilterCheryl Ciamarra, Derrick Jones, Pamela Rucinski Earned media coverage is great. Free media coverage is better. But how do you achieve free coverage without sacrificing truly earned coverage? While you may have an effective press outreach program in your organization, there are times you need to get your message out to the public without going through the filter of a news organization. Using successful examples, from public service announcements to viral videos, this workshop will explore how to build an effective advertising and marketing program that will get your unfiltered message out and potentially achieve free media coverage in the process.

Using Effective Presentations to Inform the Public and Expand Your Base Leo LaLondeHow did you become active in the right-to-life movement? Some may have different answers but 90 percent of the time it is because someone made an effective presentation. In this workshop, we will discuss how you, as a speaker, can overcome reluctance and make effective presentations. We will show you how you can use multi-media presentations to underscore your words and how advance preparation makes it all easy.

The Rise of the DIY AbortionRandall K. O’Bannon, Ph.D., Raimundo Rojas With willing abortionists harder to find and clinics expensive to build, many abortion advocates are actively promoting the idea of self-induced abortion using cheap drugs sold on market for other non-abortifacient purposes. Though some international activists are advertising and selling these to women in countries where abortion is illegal, there has been in recent years what appears to be increasing activity on our own shores. Though promoted widely, the impact has been especially felt among Hispanics both here and abroad. Dr. O’Bannon will talk about the drugs involved and those promoting them and Mr. Rojas, National Right to Life’s director of Latino Outreach, will explain how these have insinuated themselves in that community.

Working with the Press: It’s All About RelationshipsMichele Arocha Allen, Derrick JonesHow do you ensure fair and accurate coverage of pro-life issues when many journalists begin their reporting from a pro-choice viewpoint and don’t fully understand the breadth and scope of the right-to-life movement? Seemingly the deck is stacked against us because they’ve developed misconceptions about our efforts to save lives. However, with an effective press outreach centered on relationship building, we can effectively change those misconceptions, and enhance a journalist’s understanding of the pro-life issues, even if they don’t agree with us. In this workshop, you’ll learn tips and tricks for building an effective press outreach program, establishing working relationships with journalists, and practical ways to encourage fair and accurate coverage of right-to-life issues.

The Battle Against Simon’s Law: How Dirty Tricks Lost To Smart NegotiationsKathy OstrowskiWhen hospitals choose to fight against parental decision-making rights – the battle for life can take two paths, and only one leads to life. This workshop will provide a firsthand account of those who fought for Simon’s Law in Kansas. Simon’s Law is a very significant pro-life measure that combats selectively “rationed” care and medical discrimination against children with life-limiting diagnoses. Kathy Ostrowski will share how the triumph of artful dialogue beat back bullying tactics and whisper campaigns. She will delve into the frontal attacks on Simon’s Law and reveal a hidden battle plan, offering an explanation of how negotiations with a Catholic hospital chain led to a pro-life win.

eUsing the Web to Attract New Members, Inform the Public, and Raise Money for Your Pro-Life Organization - Scott Fischbach, Rai Rojas, Luis ZaffiriniMake the internet work for you. The younger generation looks to the web for their information and you have an opportunity to provide what they want and need on the life issues. If you can’t make a good first impression, they will leave and probably never return, and you want them to return. They are potential members, potential financial supporters, and potential volunteers. The speakers in this session will discuss how to make your website the very best and most appealing site possible, as well as offer practical tips you need to know to set your group up to take donations online, and some of the best practices for expanding your donor base. You will learn more about the use of websites and email campaigns to benefit your organization.

The Myth of the “Unwanted Child”: Special Needs Adoption - Joleigh LittleIt is the phrase that makes every single pro-lifer cringe. “What about the unwanted children?” While we live in a world where many children still need families, that doesn’t ever make those children “unwanted.” As pro-lifers, it is our job to share that reality with the world. There is an answer to the crisis of children living without families to love them. That answer is adoption. One at a time, these children who wait are being brought home and given families. Learn from an adoptive mom of two daughters just how precious each and every life is. If you are curious about adoption, come, listen and learn. If you have felt a tug at your heart to consider adoption, let Ms. Little tell you about her girls -- but more importantly, let her tell you about the children just like them who still wait in their home countries and in orphanages around the world. Find out how you can pray and advocate for these children who wait, often in horrifying circumstances, abandoned simply because they have special needs.

How Planned Parenthood is Fighting to Save its Abortion Empire - Randall K. O’Bannon, Ph.D.Losing half a billion dollars in government funding is not an outcome that the nation’s largest abortion promoter and performer is going to sit back and just accept without a fight. Marshaling its vast financial resources, its still considerable political and judicial capital, and rallying its reliable media allies, Planned Parenthood has mounted a major campaign to repair its image and maintain its access to the federal coffers. For all its talk, though, the one constant that is non-negotiable at Planned Parenthood is its commitment to abortion. That is stronger than ever, its own words and documents make plain, and despite the funding cuts and the closing clinics, everything points to Planned Parenthood doing all it can to expand its lucrative abortion empire. In this workshop, we’ll lay out the evidence that will counter Planned Parenthood’s carefully crafted myths and talk about how we must continue to expose and challenge its radical and deadly agenda.

What is Driving Abortion Numbers Down? - Randall K. O’Bannon, Ph.D.The latest report from Guttmacher that came out earlier this year showed abortion totals, rates and ratios the lowest they have been since abortion was legalized in the United States back in the early 1970s. That’s great news, but it is important to see how we got here and what we need to do to continue to see further declines. Everyone wants to claim credit, but the data show us that a big part of it are basic changes in the way young women see abortion and what they see as their alternatives. When we look carefully at the numbers, though, we can see where we have been most effective and where work remains to be done. This is not a development that has gone unnoticed by the abortion industry and its lobby, and there are things they are doing to reverse the slide that pro-lifers need to know.

Terri’s Legacy: Building a Network that Will Save Lives - Bobby SchindlerIt’s every family’s worst nightmare: a loved one is desperately ill and doctors refuse treatment on the grounds that the care is “futile.” Where do you turn? Whom do you call? Hospital ethics committees, family members who stand to gain financially, and promoters of the euthanasia movement are working together to end the lives of the medically vulnerable every day. It is time for the pro-life movement to stand in the gap and do what it does best: advocate for life. Find out how you can help the Terri Schiavo Life & Hope Network build a nationwide network of medical and legal professionals willing to step in and advocate for the lives of those who are at risk. The time to act is now — the lives you save could be closer to home than you ever thought possible.

He will share recommendations regarding the importance of understanding the brain of a person who is experiencing a crisis pregnancy and how that impacts interventions and risk rates of following through with an abortion decision. He will also share similar recommendations based on understanding the brain, for those who work with men and women who may have experienced trauma from an abortion decision. These recommendations will be tools to help in the healing process with clients.

eWe’re All Blobs of Tissue Now! How the Culture of Death has Corrupted the Science of LifeJoel Brind, Ph.D.The science of biology is more than a mere academic discipline. That’s because virtually everyone in medicine or any health-related field is trained in a corrupt biology which has been rooted in the culture of death since the 1950s. By the end of that decade, the mainstream texts and most influential scientists in biology had accepted that life itself is no more than a fortuitous series of accidents, having no independent existence itself. In this workshop, we learn how the culture of death subverted the biology taught to everyone as the basis of their work in medicine, nursing, and every other health-related field, thus thoroughly corrupting the mainstream Western view of life itself. This knowledge helps us to understand how so many people cannot seem to grasp the obvious, fundamental nature and sanctity of human life. This workshop is led by Dr. Joel Brind. While Dr. Brind is long known to pro-lifers mainly for his research on the abortion-breast cancer link, in his college classroom he has been teaching basic human biology to non-science majors for 31 years.

Suggestions made in this workshop are given from the perspective of an academic who has worked in higher education for nearly thirty years as a faculty member and as an administrator for various academic departments.

The Organization of American States: Working to Keep the Culture of Death Out of the AmericasScott Fischbach, Raimundo RojasThe Organization of American States was established in 1948 and as claimed in the 1st Article of their Incorporation, the goal of the member nations was “to achieve an order of peace and justice, to promote their solidarity, to strengthen their collaboration, and to defend their sovereignty, their territorial integrity, and their independence.” For years, the OAS acted as peace keeper and border enforcer – but since the 2000s the OAS has slipped into a pattern similar to the United Nations in promoting the repeal of protective abortion laws throughout South and Central America as well as promoting assisted suicide. As such, MCCL-GO has gained Consultative Status at the OAS and the fight for the lives of the most vulnerable in the Americas surges.

Executive C&D 2nd Floor Recording 34

Beyond Assisted Suicide: Are We Prepared? - Brian JohnstonHow far is the culture of death planning to go? How far are civilized individuals willing to go to stop it? The right to life movement draws its name from the founding documents of the United States of America, a nation which boldly asserted the distillation of Western civilization’s hopes and dreams and values. Without the right to life the foundations of Western society have nothing on which to rest. The self-evident truth of a human being’s unique stature in the eyes of the law, and a just government’s duty toward life, is the foundation of all our other laws.

Abortion and Breast Cancer: New Review Shows Much Stronger Link in South AsiaDr. Angela Lanfranchi, Joel Brind, Ph.D.An increased risk of breast cancer among women who have an abortion was first reported 60 years ago in Japan, and worldwide evidence confirmed the “ABC link” in dozens of studies by the mid-1990s. Nevertheless, mainstream “authorities” continue to deny the link despite mounting evidence of an even stronger link emerging during the last few years in Asia, especially South Asia. In this workshop, researcher Dr. Joel Brind and breast surgeon Dr. Angela Lanfranchi from the Breast Cancer Prevention Institute in New Jersey, summarize the epidemiological and biological evidence of the ABC link and unveil the findings of their new systematic review and meta-analysis of recent studies from the Indian subcontinent. Both speakers have been speaking and writing on this issue for National Right to Life for many years.

Abortion Worldwide Report: 1 Century, 100 Countries, 1 Billion Babies - Thomas JacobsonAbortion was first authorized in 1920 by the former U.S.S.R. and is currently authorized, partly or fully, by 136 nations. But the 60 nations still prohibiting abortion face relentless international pressure to permit abortion without restriction. We now have nearly a century of evidence documenting what happens when governments authorize abortion: it does not become rare but increases exponentially. Indeed, in less than one century, abortion has become the Greatest Genocide ever, far surpassing all wars and democides combined. This Report is the first to systematically track reported abortions in 100 nations, territories and regions, from the year of authorization through 2015. The Report contains 4,915 country years of data, major findings, country abortion graphs showing the impact of authorization, world maps, and a policy table for 196 nations. The principal authors are Wm. Robert Johnston, Ph.D., and Thomas W. Jacobson, M.A., who compiled the data and information in the Report over the last 33 and 14 years respectively. National Right to Life is a co-sponsor of the Report, and Dr. Randall O’Bannon is a member of the Expert Review Team.

Immigrant Mother. Hostile Family. Aborted Sibling. Absent Father. How (and Why) I Survived and Thrived.Krista Corbello“Every Child A Wanted Child” would have been the perfect advertisement to someone like my mother, an immigrant from the Philippines who came to this country for the “American Dream.” I grew up with the burden of knowing I was abandoned and raised by a single mother. On the other hand, I was adopted by my stepfather, received a great high school and college education, and lived a life full of music, singing, dancing, and the Louisiana joie de vivre. By the time of my college graduation, my biological father found me online and met me in person. Only recently did I find out about his involvement in an abortion. Learn about my journey, how I overcame the darkest times of my life, and how I found healing in the pro-life movement. My personal mission is to be a compassionate and empathetic pro-life voice to honor my mother for giving me life and for my aborted sibling who was not so fortunate.

eThe Why and How of Mobilizing the GrassrootsPamela Rucinski and Chet RucinskiSaving lives and changing hearts begins in your neighborhood. The right-to-life movement has always been a bottom-up, volunteer-driven institution, at its best when it is a local and organic part of a community. Whether the need is educating the public, reaching out to those in need, or addressing public policy, right-to-lifers use many helping hands to build a life-affirming society from the bottom up. Find out how to organize your community for life through a local chapter, how to plan and hold events, where and how to find pro-lifers who are ready to work, and how to use the many tools and resources at your disposal as an advocate for life. Dying of Thirst! Medicine’s Intentional Killing Through Dehydration and How to Protect the Vulnerable - Brian JohnstonThroughout the nation, tens of thousands of vulnerable patients are at immediate risk of euthanasia by intentional neglect. The procedure is simple and “effective,” and its results are always the same: death. But death is not due to an underlying illness or disease. It is not the result of withdrawing “extraordinary” care and treatment such that the patient succumbs to the underlying illness. It is death by withdrawal of all sustenance — food and water — from the medically dependent patient. It is not accidental; it is not “nature taking its course.” It is intentional neglect and it is intentionally lethal. What can be done to protect you and your loved ones? How can you equip others to understand and take positive action in this era of health care “reform” and cost-cutting?
