STUDENTS' ACADEMIC ACHIEVEMENTS 2018

In 2018 our students have maintained the very high standards established

by their predecessors. The A-level pass rate was once again very high at

98%. The proportion of entries awarded grades A*-B was over 50% and

those awarded A-C was in excess of 78%. A* and A grades accounted for

23% of results, including over 150 A* grades, used as entry criteria by some

of the most selective universities.

The grades achieved on the extension programme courses were also

impressive. The majority of students on this programme gained a valuable

additional qualification and many achieved the highest grades. For example,

85% of students achieved A-C grades on the Certificate in Financial Studies

course and over 90% of students taking the Extended Project Qualification

gained these grades.

We can be confident that these results will have enabled the great majority

of our leavers to progress to their chosen courses in higher education or

fields of employment.

These academic achievements are a substantial element in our Prizegiving

evening. They are the product of the abilities, determination and ambitions

of the students; the professional skills, enthusiasm and commitment of the

staff; and the support provided by parents, families and carers. It is the

partnership between these three elements, all sharing a common focus,

which leads to the continued success of our students.

We wish our former students continued success in the future and hope that

in the years to come they will want to keep in touch with the College and

share with us their progress in their higher education and their careers.
