Innovation

Innovation is central to our training philosophy. From incorporating Multi-Crew

Co-operation and First Officer Fundamentals training into our programs, to

pioneering the new Multi-Crew Pilot Licence in Hong Kong, CAE Oxford Aviation

Academy embraces a culture of continuous innovation.

Corporate Relationships

The relationships that we build with our corporate partners are equally as important

as the emphasis we place upon delivering top quality, customer-focused pilot

training to our students.

CAE Oxford Aviation Academy Melbourne has an extensive history of training pilots

for Australian Universities, general aviation and major airline customers from the

Australian and Asia-Pacific region.

In 1998, the Melbourne academy partnered with Qantas to create the Qantas Cadet

Pilot Training Program – at the same time pioneering the Multi Crew Co-operation

(MCC) course in Australia. Then in 2009, CAE Oxford Aviation Academy was

awarded the contract to train airline pilots for Jetstar Australia leading directly from

ab initio training into employment as First Officers flying the A320 aircraft. A similar

cadet program for Singapore-based carrier, Jetstar Asia, soon followed. More

recently, 2011 saw the launch of the Melbourne academy’s first MPL program with

Hong Kong-based carrier Dragonair.

Significantly, over 5,000 graduates that trained in Melbourne are now employed

as flight crew with Australian and overseas airlines – some having trained either as

an airline cadet or as part of an Aviation Program with the Swinburne University of

Technology with whom the Melbourne academy has been in partnership since 1992.

Training Facilities

Our modern training facilities at Moorabbin Airport include ‘state of the art’ classrooms,

a modern fleet of EFIS Cessna 172 single engine and Piper PA44 multi engine training

aircraft and a fully equipped simulator training centre featuring 5 simulators including

a CRJ200 GenJet simulator. Ample student accommodation is available in close

proximity to the airport all serviced by Academy transport services.

Moorabbin Airport is also constructed with 2 sets of parallel runways, a control

tower, Class D airspace and published instrument approach procedures; making it

absolutely ideal for airline pilot training in all types of weather conditions.

Private Pilot Licence

A Private Pilot Licence (PPL) issued by the Civil

Aviation Safety Authority (CASA) entitles the pilot to

the unrestricted freedom of flying anywhere within

Australia under CASA regulations.

A PPL is typically desired by those who wish to

fly recreationally, either hiring an aircraft or through

owning their own aircraft. In addition, those who

wish to pursue a professional aviation career require

a PPL as the first step towards a Commercial Pilot

Licence (CPL) or Airline Transport Pilot Licence

(ATPL).

Obtaining a PPL from CAE Oxford Aviation

Academy’s Melbourne Centre is the perfect solution

to learning to fly in a professional and enjoyable

environment.

Modular Training Pathway

The Modular Training Pathway is ideal for those that

wish to undertake pilot training as a self-funded

student on a more ‘part-time’ basis. The modular

pathway is a more flexible alternative to achieving

your aspirations to become a pilot.

The modular pathway consists of the following

programs that can be completed in sequence or

trainee pilots can enroll on a course at any level as

long as you meet the license pre-requisites:

• General Flying Progress Test

• Private Pilot License

• Commercial Pilot Licence

• Multi Engine Command Instrument Rating

• Flight Instructor Rating

• Combined MCC / JOC
