PRIVATE FLIGHT
UK hosts world aerobatics SOUTH CERNEY The 13th world aerobatic championships gets under way this weekend at South Cerney in Gloucestershire. This is the second time that the UK has hosted the event, the championship having been held not a million miles away at Hullavington in 1970. This year's event has been sponsored by the British importer of Volkswagen cars, which has also provided financial support to Ian Padden, a member of the British team who has come in to replace Philip Meeson.
During the past few weeks the teams have been arriving in the UK. Qantas was expected to provide Boeing 747 carriage for the Australian team of three Pitts. The

August 16—0900-1700hr Volkswagen World Festival of Aerobatics and Airshow including: 1986 World aerobatic champions and presentation of WAC86 prizes and trophies (1700hr)
August 17 Competitors and aircraft depart
Admission Public will be admitted to South Cerney airfield each day (August 1-17) from 0900 to 1700hr. Charges: August 1-15 and 17: adults £1; children under 14 free; August 16: adults £3, children 8-14 £2, children under eight free. There is free parking on each day.
USA team was scheduled to come by USAF Lockheed C-5A Galaxy. This team comprises nine pilots and nine aircraft. These teams have been training at Strathallan and Bodmin, respectively.
Soviet participation was expected to involve ten pilots who would fly a pair of Yakovlev Yak-50s and two Sukhoi Su-26s.
The next two weeks will see the more-than-60 pilots flying known, unknown, and freestyle sequences of aerobatic manoeuvres before the leading pilots fly the deciding stage, which is scheduled to be concluded on August 15. It will be followed by an aerobatic festival on August 16.
