Prism Bars - Horizontal, Vertical and Combo

The Horizontal Bar includes 1, 2, 4, 6, 8, 10, 12, 14, 16, 18, 20, 25,30, 35, 40, 45 PD. The Vertical Bar has 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 8, 10, 12, 14,16, 18, 20, 25, 30 PD with all on the bar (none are loose).

Choice of leatherette or black plastic case. The standard prism barscome with foam wrap on one end so the back surface is not scratchedwhen placed on a table. The version without foam spacer permit theuse of the bars “back to back” in order to show simultaneoushorizontal and vertical adjustment to the patient.

When horizontal and vertical prism bars are used simultaneously infront of the same eye, they are customarily held back-to-back. Thispractice, however, reverses the rear prism bar from its usual positionand results in an erroneous measurement. Our new combinationprism bar resolves the problem by having the horizontal prism barslide up and down in a channel affixed to the vertical prism bar. Thisensures that the flat surfaces of both prism bars are heldperpendicular to the direction of the fixation object.

Risley Prisms

One inch or 23 mm aperture rotating prisms permit moreflexibility compared to your Phoropter. Two versions are offered:+/- 20 PD, +/- 30 PD with handles. The prism is controlled with aconvenient knurled rotating knob. Accurately calibrated dialshows prism diopter selected and rotates thru 30PD right-exo to0 PD to 30PD left-eso. Removable Red Maddox filter availableto fit either of these Risley Prisms.

Prism Trial Lens Set provides 16 more increments of prism values than standard trial sets.Result is more accurate diagnosis and an opportunity to help those hard to fit strabismuscases. Short Vertical BarSome applications, such as the FAA flight exams, require much finerdetermination of any phoria in the range of 0.5 to 4.0 diopters. Further,the latest ‘required equipment list’ for pilot exams includes phoria determination tools suchas a prism though 8 diopters. These requirements are addressed by our new ‘Short’ prismbar which offers 12 diopter increments in this range. The diopter sizes are 0.5, 1, 1.5, 2,2.5, 3, 3.5, 4, 5, 6, 7 and 8 and are marked on the bar. Vertical only. Slip case is included.

Individual Loose Stick Prisms

Individual Loose Square Prisms

Square Prisms are 38 mmnominal square and are

engraved with the dioptervalue.

Individual Stick Prisms are also nominal 38 mm square but they have a threaded stainless steelhandle inserted into each one. The handle discourages touching the prism on the acrylic andtherefore prisms stay clean longer. The prisms are marked with the diopter value in small numbers.

Press-on Optics can be used for Diplopia (3rd, 4th and 6th nerve palsies, following cataractsurgery, myasthenia gravis, MS Graves Disease) or Phorias (symptomatic or decompensatedphorias). Richmond’s Press-On Optics manufactured by 3M are Ultra-thin and measure only1mm thick. Prisms may be cut to fit most frame sizes and shapes. They adhere to existinglenses with only water. Press-on Prisms are used for patients that are bed-ridden, Diabetesmellitus, post cataract surgery and low vision. Used as a fusion stimulus in other muscledeficiencies. Aspheric Lenses are available in plus and minus powers. These Aspheric lensesallow for corrected vision while under water. Aspherics are special order. D-Segment BifocalLenses permit simulation of bifocal lenses before Rx fabrication.
