Dear Baylor Bear Foundation Member,

Thanks for your generosity to Baylor student-athletes. The economic challenges of this past year have been turned into opportunities by Bear Foundation members. For the fifth consecutive year, record contributions for scholarship assistance to over 400 Baylor student-athletes were made through the Bear Foundation.

The Bear Foundation is at work to build on this momentum. Please review the enclosed information on the numerous membership benefits. Our executive director and his staff, and the BBF board, are all dedicated to making your continued membership a valuable and rewarding experience.

In today’s economic climate, your Bear Foundation membership renewal is critical to the success of Baylor’s student-athletes. The scholarships of over 400 young men and women who represent Baylor throughout the United States depend upon the contributions we make through our memberships.

We realize that your continued support must be earned. We pledge our best efforts to assist our student-athletes who represent Baylor in athletics, in the classroom and in the best traditions of Baylor University.

As this year draws to a close, we wish you and your family good health and joy in the upcoming year.

Very truly yours,

George Payne, PresidentBaylor Bear Foundation

“There are so many student-athletes, myself included, that are incredibly blessed to be in this position. We have a unique opportunity to learn, be trained, and perform at the highest level, and the members of the Bear Foundation make all this possible. Thank you.”

“The support of the Bear Foundation has allowed me to be at a great school, have great experiences, to grow intellectually and spiritually at a place I wouldn’t be able to afford otherwise. I’m honored to be here and to represent Baylor University. “

“The Bear Foundation’s scholarship support makes me realize that I have been blessed with an amazing opportunity. I would not be the person I am today without what the Baylor Bear Foundation has done. Thanks for believing in me.”

1. What are my donations to the Bear Foundation used for? Donations received by the Bear Foundation are used to fund scholarships for Baylor student-athletes.

2. When is the deadline to renew my Bear Foundation membership? May 31st each year is the end of the BBF fiscal year and our primary deadline for membership renewal. Members are urged to renew their pledge by this date so that their requests for SEASON TICKET upgrades or location changes will be considered.

3. Is there an incentive to renew my membership early? Yes. This year we are offering all members who renew by December 31st, 2009, an incentive of 100 BONUS Priority Points for renewing early.

4. What is the priority points program? The priority points program is the mechanism used to rank donors when benefits are allocated.

5. What is the best way for me to improve my existing seats in either football or men’s or women’s basketball priority areas? A. It is imperative that you renew your Bear Foundation membership pledge BEFORE May 31st of the coming year for your request to be considered. B. Increase your giving level whenever possible. Remember, based upon availability, upgrades and seating requests are accommodated starting with our highest membership level and working down. C. RENEW YOUR EXISTING SEATS by the deadline on the ticket application. DO NOT delay your renewal in hopes of upgrading your seats – this could cause your existing seats to be released for resale to another donor. Please note on your ticket renewal form that you wish to upgrade your seats if better seats become available. E. Once the ticket renewal deadline is reached, the BBF staff will work with the ticket office to review all requests for seat changes. At a designated time, the points list will be used and available seats are

assigned. If we are unable to accomodate your request, you will remain in the seats from the previous year. As always – MAXIMIZE YOUR LEVEL OF GIVING TO ASSURE THE BEST SEATS AVAILABLE.

6. If I am a member of the Bear Foundation, do I have to pay seat options in addition to my membership? Your Bear Foundation membership counts toward your seat options, AND seat options count toward your Bear Foundation membership. If your seat options total more than your Bear Foundation membership, you will need to pay the difference, thereby increasing your Bear Foundation membership.

7. Do my excellence fund (sports clubs) gifts count towards my seat option costs? No, however, you are credited points within the priority points system.

8. Do other Big 12 schools have a priority points program? Yes, every Big 12 institution has a priority points program. Baylor’s seat options in football, men’s basketball and women’s basketball are among the Big 12 Conference’s lowest.

9. How are priority points used in the seating or ticket request process? Annual giving levels within the Bear Foundation (beginning with the highest level and working down) are used in assigning seating or fulfilling ticket requests. Priority points are then used within each level to determine priority.

10. Is there an expectation for me to remain at the same membership level in future years in order to keep the seats I currently have? Yes – if you are sitting in a priority seating area, you must maintain the level of giving used to achieve your current seats or you will be subject to relocation if another donor at a higher giving level requests an upgrade in your area.
