At the back of the building is our

bathroom, which has a flat roof that we

could access from the stairway that

leads up to our bedroom. We propose

creating a doorway that leads out onto a

balcony. The balcony would be edged by

brick at the base, matching the current

wall, and then simple black or white

railings. The roof area the balcony will

be built on will measure roughly 230cm

long and 225cm wide. I previously met

with a planning officer to discuss this

and he explained that a balcony would

probably be considered acceptable in

the area, given the balcony at the back

of a property on Rotherfield Street and

the property on the corner of

Ecclesbourne Road and Halliford Street.

We propose having a similar style to the

one at the back of Rotherfield Street. He

asked that I speak to my neighbours to

check whether or not they had an issue

with the proposition - I've done that and

they have verbally approved of it.
