PIONEERING SPIRIT ON EVERY TERRAINWhen the Val Gardena World Cup celebrated its 50th anniversary, it was also a moment to think back on the beginnings of PRINOTH: from a small car repair shop to the techno-logical leader for snow groomers worldwide! But that‘s not all - the commercial vehicles in the PRINOTH portfolio today provide the perfect solution for all kinds of require-ments: PRINOTH tracked vehicles cover the most impassable areas; PRINOTH Vegetation Management offers a wide range of powerful mulchers and tilling machines.

The community of our various business units and the cooperation within the entire LEITNER Group create synergies that inspire and drive our technical innovations.

Thus, our vehicles also offer an exciting alternative for applications that may seem “exotic” at first glance: PRINOTH AGRIPOWER is an excellent example of this (p. 131).

As a company whose origins and headquarters are based in the mountains, we are aware of the increased demands for off-road work in extreme areas. We know the concerns and problems of our customers and can work directly on the right solution. We also have partners with whom to work together to find the right solution and who are driven by the same force as we are: enthusiasm for their profession and the constant search for improvement.

But the secret of our success is our pioneering spirit. It has been with us since the very beginning of our company and we cultivate it on all our sites to this day.

Reading our PRINOTH World offers a little insight into our world.

I hope you enjoy reading!

The question is why we, as a private company, are focusing on innovation.

Companies are engaged in an unrelenting fight to gain an edge over competitors. We have to prove ourselves constantly and convince our customers again and again.

Innovation and internationalization are the key to being successful in this ever-shrinking world, which is turning ever faster. We have to adapt so that we can anticipate trends and be successful in the future.

But repeatedly setting sails into the unknown takes courage. It takes courage to develop and focus on new products, open up new markets and invest in them.

The many upcoming changes such as automation, digitization, industry 4.0, self-driving vehicles - to name just a few buzzwords or trends - can undoubtedly lead to a feeling of anxiety. But these new condi-tions also offer opportunities if you recognize them as such and are flexible enough to adapt to and make the most of them. However, this adaptability, which is necessary to survive in the long term, must be matched by healthy and sustainable ethics.

In 2017, the Val Gardena World Cup celebrated its 50th anniversary with a fabulous party. PRINOTH, as a partner of the first hour, couldn’t miss the event. The Val Gardena World Cup, together with PRINOTH, has contributed significantly to the growth of skiing in the Dolomites.

Val Gardena is a place steeped in winter sports history: the Alpine Ski World Cup was founded in 1967 and the first downhill ski race on the breathtaking Saslong slope was held on February 14, 1969 - whilst Ernst Prinoth built his first snow groomer in 1962.

The Saslong, with the notorious key stages Camel Humps, Sochers jumps, and Ciaslat Meadow, has become legendary and not only because it is extremely demanding on the athletes’ technical and sporting skills! It is also one of the most popular downhill runs in Italy.

The first downhill in 1969 was followed by 54 more and 16 Super-Gs, as well as some combined and technical runs. PRINOTH has always been there to help skiers make their way to the finish line.

For the FIS Downhill and Super-G competitions, a large celebration program honored the history of the world-famous Saslong, full of all the anecdotes, surprises and ski wonders it has seen. The highlight of the 50th anniversary celebration was a big show on Friday, December 15, 2017, to which PRINOTH snow groomers made their big (TV) appearance.

DEVILISHLY GOOD QUALITY FROM SOUTH TYROL TAKEN AROUND THE WORLDSouth Tyrol is not only a famous dream destination for tourists - the region is also known worldwide as a flourishing business and innovation hub with one of the highest rates of entrepreneurship in Europe. The history of PRINOTH is the best example of Tyrol’s entrepreneurial spirit.

The beginnings of PRINOTH are rooted in Val Gardena where the racing driver Ernst Prinoth opened a car repair shop in 1951. Ernst Prinoth was an inventor - always looking for ways to make “good” better. Fascinated by fast engines and technical innovations, as well as a passionate skier at the same time, he started developing his first snow groomers.

A PERFECT BLEND OF TRADITION AND INNOVATIONVision, foresight and a passion for technology - these are the ingredients for the success that PRINOTH has enjoyed over the decades. As part of the LEITNER Group, our company, which is steeped in tradition and continued to grow and become what it is today - half a century later: THE synonym for vehicles on tracks of the highest quality. Meanwhile, PRINOTH has become a global player that is firmly rooted in its Tyrolean homeland and culture. In the midst of the mountains and in the heart of winter sports, young sports enthusiasts meet today as they did in the past to continue paving the way for skiing. What is new, however, is that nowadays, we are in communication with colleagues and partners all over the world. Time and space sets no limits to the PRINOTH spirit!

No mountain is too steep, no terrain too extreme and no challenge too big - PRINOTH vehicles conquer mountains, winning over even the most demanding customers.

DIGITIZATION

PRINOTHWORLD 2018 — PAGE 13 | 14

In recent years, financial pressure on ski resorts and the need for sustainable use of all resources have increased sharply. If you have the relevant information on resource consump-tion and process it in an understandable way, you can make the right decisions. Everything in terms of sustainability, efficiency and effectiveness... PRINOTH has developed appropriate technologies to support ski resorts in the efficient handling of snow groomers as best as possible. The SNOW HOW offer - in combination with tailor-made trainings - provides excellent and mature software and data management tools, such as:

+ SNOW MEASUREMENT: 3D snow depth measurement system in cooperation with Leica Geosystems + FLEET MANAGEMENT: New fleet management system

So, digitization does not stop at the slope.

With the new fleet management system from PRINOTH, all vehicle data is transmitted live on a standard platform. Regardless of the manufacturer, snow groomers and also snowmobiles or cars can be recorded and managed. This way, the entire vehicle fleet of a ski area can be mapped, trips planned more efficiently, and costs reduced.

The system provides information on the location and operation of the snow groomers. These include, among other things, the machine position, operating times and times of use (with details on winch operation, tilling operation, etc.), fuel consumption and other individually configurable data. PRINOTH’s fleet management system is reliable and user-friendly. Individual reports on individual machines or the entire fleet can be created easily.

The system is now available at your nearest PRINOTH point of sale!

The proven 3D snow depth measurement system from Leica Geosystems is now the best-selling system on the market worldwide - that speaks for itself! The satellite-supported system enables precise 3D snow depth measurement and simple visualization on a separate screen in the operator cabin. The system also opens up new possibilities in park construction. All elements can be digitally planned and expanded. The “blueprint” is then displayed directly in the snow groomer’s cockpit. A reliable system for slopes and parks!

Best of all, both PRINOTH digitizing options can be retrofitted to existing vehicles.

ADVANTAGES OF THE NEW SOFTWARE FROM PRINOTH

FLEET MANAGEMENT

The FLEET MANAGEMENT software developed by PRINOTH is a convincing work tool for the management of slopes and vehicle fleets of any ski area in the world. Precise data acquisition and accurate vehicle monitoring allow the optimization of work processes and the efficient design of roads - the result: Increased efficiency leading to resource and cost savings.

SIMPLE VISUALIZATION AND INTUITIVE OPERATIONThe motto is all-in-one: All information is accessible from a single interface and easy to understand. This eliminates the need to switch between different programs and ensures a continuous workflow - even when switching on PRINOTH’s snow measurement software.

SMART DATA PROCESSINGEfficient management requires the right information: Vehicle status, working time, position and speed, engine and vehicle key figures as well as the status of winch, tiller and lighting are transmitted in real time and displayed via the software.

FULL FOCUS ON WORKING WITH FLEET MANAGEMENTThe first big advantage of FLEET MANAGEMENT is already clear in the setup: the customer does not have to worry about installing a local server, nor about the storage and transmission of the data and can thus concentrate fully on the actual fleet management.

ONE FOR ALL, ALL FOR ONE The special bonus: Not only snow groomers, but also snowmobiles, ATVs, cars etc. can be retrofitted with the FLEET MANAGEMENT Software. In this way, the entire vehicle fleet of a ski area can be recorded, managed and optimized comprehensively.

ADVANTAGES AT A GLANCE:

+ Extremely user-friendly and clear user interface + Clear visualization of the most important key figures as well as the possibility of detailed evaluation + Data transmission in real time + Targeted planning and cost saving + No additional expenditure for servers, IT maintenance and data transfer

year’s National Convention and Trade Show of the National Ski Areas Association (NSAA), the most important trade fair for alpine technologies in North America.

PRINOTH snow groomers equipped with iCONalpine technology by Leica Geosystems have been setting the standard for years. The satellite-based system enables precise 3D snow measurement and clear visualization on the display in the operator cabin. It is not without reason that it is the best-selling measurement system on the market. The next development step will make the system a command center for comprehensive snow and operations management: as the key to increasing productivity and reducing costs on slopes, it op-timizes the efficient use of vehicles and snow, whether natural or technically produced with water and energy.

SNOW HOW by PRINOTH is the analysis and consulting software that inspires. Why? Because, on the one hand, in cooperation with Leica Geosystems, we offer the world’s most precise snow measurement system. On the other hand, we work closely with customers to develop and improve the software. This results in a cutting-edge technology that not only delivers precise and compre-hensive values for increasing productivity, but is also easy and intuitive to use.

Nothing is more annoying than a rushed software! Or one that does not meet the requirements in the field. That’s why we at PRINOTH build on the exchange with our customers - thanks to their feedback and cooperation we can live up to our claim to offer the best snow management software on the market.

WHAT OUR CUSTOMERS SAY ABOUT SNOW HOWRudolf Egarter, Technical Director at Drei Zinnen AG

“We’ve been looking for something like this for a long time. It is our future. A system that is easy to use, easy to understand, helpful at work, precise in use and strong in data collection and statistics. Here, PRINOTH once again demonstrates its visionary customer-oriented solutions, which will be necessary for a positive development of the future ski resorts.”

David Piqué, ski slope grooming manager at SAETDE GrandValira, Andorra“This software program is still very new to us and has only been installed since the beginning of the season. But my first impression is very positive! It is easy to understand and to use. It allows us to collect a lot of information. An interesting solution for having an overview of the vehicle fleet, as well as for the management and optimization of the snow resources.“

PRINOTH SNOW HOW

SNOW HOW

Marco Bernard, Ski Resort Manager, Bromont“Here in Bromont, we have chosen SNOW HOW because it is easy to use, and it gives us exactly the information we need to guide our operators. For example, they can reduce fuel consumption. This is supplemented by helpful information from the Leica system, i.e., the snow depth, which can be incorporated in the mountain view on the screen. And then there is the real-time mode, which allows us to see exactly where our vehicles are working. What more do you want?”

Leslie Jaffe, Fleet Coordinator at Aspen Skiing Company“The real-time course tracking of the snow groomers is a very useful tool! The quick response and enhancement of software improvement proposals is impressive, making this tool even more valuable and user-friendly. I appreciate the attention of your team and your helpful customer service.”

Paul Maitland, Ski Resort Manager, Stratton Mountain Resort “I am impressed by the accuracy of the PRINOTH snow measurement system - we use it daily in our area. We have seen significant improvements in cost savings, especially in snow production. Especially after breaks in the weather, we can now see better where there are weak points and use our resources efficiently and precisely. This saves us time, money and energy.”

Ski resort management, OK Bergbahnen“Since the Leica snow depth measurement system is an independent supplier, a maximum of vehicle data can be generated, regardless of the vehicle manufac-turer. The strengths of the Leica snow depth measurement system lie primarily in the groomer information in the vehicle during operation. Our first impression is very good! Our operators are also very impressed by the use of the snow depth measurement system. We are convinced that we have taken the right step into the future of slope grooming.”

PRINOTH has equipped a total of 15 ski snow groomers of the Oberstdorf Kleinwalsertal mountain railways with the snow depth measurement system. We would like to thank the new managing director of Bergbahnen Oberstdorf Kleinwalsertal, Dr. Andreas Gapp, for their renewed confidence in PRINOTH and we are pleased to deliver our LEITWOLF vehicles. SNOW HOW has already been successfully tested at more than 20 ski resorts and this year it is going to be distributed worldwide with the official product presentation at Mountain Planet. We are looking forward to a strong demand and we will already have more than 400 vehicles running with the system for the coming winter.

The Lake Louise Winterstart World Cup is one of the most important competitions of the season and a magnet for crowds with over 173 million spectators worldwide. Absolute preci-sion is required for grooming slopes. Those in charge of the Winterstart Event, who organize the competition of the speed disciplines in front of the spectacular backdrop of the Rocky Mountains, know this very well.

In December 2017, they used the LEITWOLF and the BISON X by PRINOTH for the first time, which is no easy task on the slopes of the Rockies: “We have to make the race course on steep slopes with machine-made snow,” explained Mike Stone. But in the 2017 season, however,

preparations were running smoothly: “The LEITWOLF with its horsepower and powerful winch allowed us to complete the job in a short time.“

Special high-tech elements made it easier to handle different types of snow: “The shaking function was great to free the blade from large loads of wet snow - and therefore smooth and even. The adjustable track working surface made the machine easier to steer than you would expect with such heavy equipment.” Stone also praised the final result: “I found that the PRINOTH tiller did an excellent job working with different snow conditions, from wet to frozen and sticky or even with artificial snow, leaving a perfectly groomed surface, which is exactly what we need.” Winterstart’s operator is also satisfied with the comfort, above all with the “spacious cabin with a wide field of vision and the well-placed control levers.”

His colleague, Jason Smith, is also impressed by his snow groomer, the BISON X. The driver from Winterstart also likes the central sitting position in the cabin, which enables him to work safely without blind spots, and the PARK blade that lets him maneuver in narrow spaces. As there have been problems with snow groomers from other suppliers in recent years, Smith is particularly impressed by the reliability of PRINOTH’s vehicle in preparing for the World Cup slope, which requires top performance from both man and machine: “During this time, we need to be able to rely on the functionality of the equipment.”

So, it’s no wonder that Killington also trusts in PRINOTH know-how, where the LEITWOLF laid a perfect snow carpet at the FIS Ski World Championships in November 2017.

Saturday morning, December 2, 2017, in Lake Louise - hundreds of athletes and spectators were looking forward to the women’s downhill race of the FIS Ski World Cup. But then, at 10 o’ clock in the morning, a power outage risked ruining the event: a fallen tree disrupted power supply to the entire ski resort - and thus also to the lift. How would the athletes get to the starting gate? The television stations ORF, Eurosport, ZDF, etc. were all already broadcasting live.

A long hour of strenuous reflection and brooding and then the brilliant idea: PRINOTH snow groomers could help! The PRINOTH BISONS took the athletes to the starting gate in an improvised drag lift and the race was able to start at 1:30pm just one hour late and the live TV broadcast could begin.

US Ski Team star Lindsey Vonn was not only enthusiastic about the efforts of the FIS Ski World Cup organizers in Lake Louise - but also about the “knight in shining armor.”

Hochwurzen and Planai, the local mountains of Rohrmoos and Schladming in the Enns Valley in Styria, are not only among the most popular holiday destinations in Austria, but have also been the venue of international competitions since the birth of alpine winter sports in the 1920s. This year’s Alpine Ski World Cup Men’s Slalom - a competition that, according to Wolfgang Perhab, Planai’s ski slope manager, offers “great races with a great advertising impact” - was once again a part of this year’s event.

The World Cup ski race on the famous Planai slope is popular not only for the unique conditions with the finish line in Schladming, but also for the well-pre-pared slopes, a must for any successful competition. The firm snow bed on the slopes of the Planai is ensured by the latest models of the LEITWOLF, alongside the BEAST and the EVEREST. According to Perhab, the PRINOTH vehicles are convincing for their easy handling on the slopes. The operators of the Planai family give particular importance to the “stability of the equipment and easy handling of the vehicle.” Although fog remains a major challenge on the mountain, according to Perhab, the perfect grooming of the snow bed is all the more im-portant for “a hard base run regardless of the weather conditions.” Only meticulous grooming of the slopes allows for the special atmosphere of the races that are followed by numerous fans right after the slalom competition in Kitzbühel: “The success proves us right,” says Perhab in judging the slope grooming worthy of world champions in the Enns Valley.

BORMIO FIS ALPINE WORLD CUP ON THE STELVIO SLOPEThe legendary Stelvio Slope, one of the world’s most demanding ski slopes in the Stilfser Joch National Park, hosted the Bormio FIS Alpine World Cup in December 2017. On this particularly steep, fast and winding run, male skiers competed to achieve the best results in the downhill and combination disciplines.

The starting gate with 63% inclination is already the steepest start of all World Cup downhill runs. On the fast sections of the slope, speeds of up to 140 km/h and jumps of up to 40 m can be reached. The succession of fast bends also demands the athletes’ extreme skill and concentration.

EXTREME TERRAIN: THE LEITWOLF IN ACTION At Bormio Ski, PRINOTH’s LEITWOLF takes care of slope grooming, “because it adapts well to the extreme profiles of the Stelvio slope in terms of both width and elevation,” says Pasquale Canclini, technical director of Bormio Ski. The optimized traction force of the LEITWOLF, with its already superb climbing ability, plus AUTOMATIC winch, allows grooming even the steepest slope stretches in Bormio. In addition, as pointed out by Pasquale Canclini, the POWER tiller, with its patented parallel offset, is simply the best: “It ensures a compact and homogeneous layer up to 15/20 cm below the athletes’ skis (other tillers go deeper, which is why the snow breaks when the athletes load it when landing after a jump or when changing directions).”

The manager at Bormio Ski has also had excellent experiences with PRINOTH service: “Servicing is fast and competent; PRINOTH always comes quickly and solves the problem.” It is particularly important to be able to rely on snow groomers and manufacturers when grooming slopes under extreme conditions.

Guaranteed snow, a record number of sunny days and 225 km of groomed slopes make Lenzerheide Arosa one of the top spots for winter sports in Switzerland. These condi-tions are also attractive for World Championship races. In January, for example, the Audi FIS Women’s Ski World Cup at Heimberg made a stop in Parpan, bringing exciting slalom races, giant slaloms and, for the first time, an alpine combined race.

Peter Engler, CEO of Lenzerheide Bergbahnen AG, can look back to successful competitions: “We have always received very good reviews from the skiers and officials for the organization

and the general conditions.” Engler knows the importance of well-groomed slopes for athlete training: “It is an honor for the Arosa Lenzerheide winter sports region to be able to provide world champions or future world champions with fine slopes. Last February, during the World Cup in St. Moritz, we hosted the athletes of the Swiss team for training on the Heimberg slope for three weeks. In the end, we were a part of the Swiss success in St. Moritz.”

The fleet of snow groomers of PRINOTH’s LEITWOLF, which is responsible for preparing the slopes on Lenzerheide, also contributed to this success: “We opted for PRINOTH vehicles because we were convinced of their performance and cutting-edge engine technology, and our employees are also very satisfied with the tilling power.” According to Engler, the experience of the employees combined with the precise 3D snow height measurement provided by ICONalpine are the ideal prerequisites for a well-groomed slope. In this context, long-term thinking is necessary: “A very important factor is snowmaking, which begins in November with technical snowmaking.” And of course, the weather must also play along, because cold temper-atures are important “in order to mix the water/snow combination well during bar preparation.” According to the head of Bergbahnen AG, “In addition to optimal slope grooming, the weather is also an ingredient for a dream race.”

Excitement, action and speed: This year, the Audi FIS Ski Cross Double World Cup drew once again many fans to the Sesto Dolomites. For two days, everything was centered on the fast-paced Olympic discipline in the popular Alta Pusteria ski resort.

For the eighth time already, the stars of the ski cross scene competed on the spectacular Haunold course, which offered thrilling races with numerous steep bends and spins, jumps, ridges and bumps. The World Cup stage in Innichen was the last of the FIS Cross Alps Tour, which included the stages in Val Thorens (FRA), Arosa (CHE) and Montafon (AUT).

The team from White Industries Ltd., led by the Canadian Jeff Ihaksi, was respon-sible for the planning of the obstacle-free ski cross trail. Andreas Silbernagl, test and demonstration operator at PRINOTH, built the course with the BISON X, shaping tons of snow. From the start, the trail covered a distance of just under 1,500 m, leading directly to the finish line at the entrance to Innichen, where spectators were able to watch all the thrilling duels and overtaking maneuvers on a big screen.

The program included two races for both men and women, with the athletes expecting first-class weather and slope conditions on both days. The winners were Heidi Zacher from Germany and Marc Bischofberger from Switzerland on race day 1, and Sandra Naeslund from Sweden on race day 2. In the men’s event, Marc Bischofsberger won once again the Cross Alps Tour.

The PRINOTH SNOWLICIOUS, which provided the hungry guests with snacks and drinks, was the culinary supporting program.

Thanks to the hard work of the organizers in Innichen and the help of numerous volunteers, this major sporting event was a complete success. High international snow and safety standards could be achieved and spectators as well as athletes were enthusiastic about the event.

OLYMPIC COMPETITIONS

Within three nights, the BISON X created an ideal training environment on the slopes of the Montafon for the athletes, who were more than satisfied with the conditions on site. Eric Themel, head coach of the Austrian national teams, praised PRINOTH commitment to the success of his team: “Thanks to PRINOTH for the great support during the pre-Olympic training in Gargellen in Montafon. With the new BISON X, we were able to recreate a replica of the starting gate in Pyeongchang to optimize our training.”

Benjamin Wordsworth, national coach of the Australian snowboard cross team, added: “Thanks to PRINOTH for supporting and working with our Gargellen Camp here in Austria.” The person in charge of the Australian team stressed the excellent cooperation: “The joint venture between Austria, Australia and PRINOTH has enabled us to build a high-performance trail and train there in view of the 2018 Olympic Winter Games. All of the athletes see this as one of the key factors in their preparation for the Olympics and the upcoming season.”

The Olympic-style performance of the two teams on the course created by the BISON X, consisting of various jumps, bends and downhills with different inclinations, also convinced the spectators in Gargellen, who were following the spectacular jumps in the starting area with enthusiasm.

PERFECT TRAINING CONDITIONS FOR TEAM AUSTRIA AND TEAM AUSTRALIA WITH THE PRINOTH BISON X

The preparation for the Olympic competitions for the national snowboard cross teams from Austria and Australia went extraordinarily well this year. White Industries was the designer and builder of the cross-country Olympic circuit in South Korea and a PRINOTH cooperation partner. The Olympic snowboard cross-country trail was built with a PRINOTH BISON X. The same vehicle was available to the two teams in the Gargellen ski area in Vorarlberg for a real-life replica of the start of the Pyeongchang circuit.

EUROPEAN CHAMPIONSHIP

BIATHLETE COMPETITIONS IN THE RIDNAU VALLEY WITH THE BISON

At the foot of the Stubai Alps, the European Biathlon Championships were held in January. After the continental championships had al-ready been held in Ridnaun in 2011, this high-altitude valley, with its 25 km of cross-country ski trails, which is regarded as snow-sure, also proved to be a suitable location in 2018. On the trail and at the shooting ranges, 351 biathletes competed, among them many top stars whose athletic achievements were pursued with suspense in terms of fitness and concentration.

The PRINOTH BISON, with its perfectly groomed cross-country trails, also gave proof of its endurance and precision on the spot. Other major events, such as the famous Vasalopple race in Sweden and numerous Nordic FIS sports events, also rely on the BISON with NORDIC LINER for cross-country ski trail grooming, as it combines maximum thrust and excellent maneuverability with maximum visibility and excellent comfort. The BISON is, therefore, becoming increasingly popular - in Ridnaun and around the world.

PIONEER, LEADER, LEGEND.LEITWOLF

PARALLEL OFFSET: One of a kind and exclusive in the world: by PRINOTH! With the patented parallel offset of the tiller, the LEITWOLF can do more than any other: even when driving at an angle, it can keep the finishing comb parallel to the direction of travel, exploiting the entire width of a slope.

MASTER BLADE: In the tactically balanced angle, the broadened blade cuts ef-fortlessly through ice and snow. The ideal shape allows the snow to roll loose in the blade, reducing the amount of force required. Easier climbing ability and greater thrust are the result.

COMFORT: PRINOTH operators are the focus of our attention - the central seating position provides the best overview of the LEITWOLF’s territory. The 8.4” color display puts all the necessary information into focus. And the multifunction joystick makes it possible to control all main vehicle functions with one hand.

DESIGN: A sports car needs the dynamic elegance that only an experienced designer can provide - whether driving on the road or in the snow. Pininfarina designs vehicles for Ferrari, Maserati and PRINOTH.

The PRINOTH LEITWOLF has proven itself on the slopes of this world and earned the trust of the most prestigious ski resorts. With its superior and extensively tested technology, it convinces every skeptic. A LEITWOLF does not make empty promises, but clear statements.

LEITWOLF – a name that evokes associations: of power and elegance, of strength of character and independence, of mysterious closeness to nature and unattainable sover-eignty. The PRINOTH LEITWOLF does not bear this name for nothing. In 2000, the first of its kind was born and immediately found its natural habitat: the leader of the pack! Already the ancestor of this snow groomer cast all its competitors in the shade and even today the LEITWOLF is still unrivaled.

ENGINE: MTU, six-cylinder diesel engine with 390 kW/530 hp and 2,460 Nm of torque - extensively tested. Unsophisticated experiments are out of the question for us! Only when technology defeats the wind, snow, rain and ice, when it passes the baptism of fire on a steep mountain, when it proves to be worthy of the best in its class - only then is it ready for the LEITWOLF.

POWER TILLER: Outstanding performance combined with simplicity - that’s the definition of ingeniousness, that’s the definition of the PRINOTH POWER tiller. Its simple, low-maintenance design is robust and resistant. At the same time, it creates a lasting, precise slope pattern with a deep, fine-grained tilling result.

NORTH AMERICA

With the increasing popularity of the LEITWOLF, more and more ski resorts are considering using it on their slopes. Its unsurpassed power, its special climbing ability and unique grooming area make it particularly attractive for difficult terrains and large slopes: 4.5 t of traction force with gradients of up to 100%, combined with the exceptional track width of 4.5 m and the resistant PRINOTH tiller with parallel offset guarantee an optimal working result - and all this with low fuel consumption.

The special features of the LEITWOLF aroused special interest last winter at the trade shows of the National Ski Areas Association, the representative of 303 North American ski resorts, where it demonstrated its advantages to the professional audience. So, it’s no wonder that PRINOTH is receiving a growing number of requests for information about the features and potential benefits of the LEITWOLF.

QUALITY PLUS INNOVATION MADE IN EUROPE AND AMERICA As the newest and most innovative model among large-sized snow groomers, the LEITWOLF made its debut on the North American market in 2015. In the meantime, it has conquered its own place on mountain slopes in the United States and Canada. In 2017 alone, numerous vehicles were delivered to ski resorts in the low and high mountainous regions of North America as a particularly powerful and technically advanced snow groomer with great development potential.

ACKNOWLEDGMENT FOR THE LEITWOLF PRINOTH has come up with something very special for 2018 and commissioned Swarovski to create the LEITWOLF as a crystal figurine. It quickly became clear that the optical connection between glittering snow and sparkling crystal could not fit better. The crystal snow groomer was developed in a limited edition of 700 pieces in close coordination between Swarovski and PRINOTH with its grinding pattern and logo application.

CRYSTAL MEETS METALThe special thing about the design is the unique combination of two materials: the crys-tal figurine was made of crystal-colored Advanced Crystal, while the winch was made of a swiveling metal part. The facet finish guarantees maximum brilliance while maintaining the typical PRINOTH product design.

PRINOTH & SWAROVSKI® CRYSTALS Swarovski crystals are famous for their extraordinary brilliance. This long-established Tyrolean company has been producing jewelry, fashion accessories, figurines and much more for over 120 years. Daniel Swarovski, who founded the company in 1895, sought from the very begin-ning to advance technical progress and to increase the brilliance and purity of the crystals. This focus on technical progress has also been a hallmark of PRINOTH since its foundation: The “pioneer‘s awareness” and the unbridled desire for innovation of the company‘s founder and racing driver Ernst Prinoth have shaped the business of this company that has been active around the world from its foundation in 1962 to the present day, ensuring far-reaching development with the highest demands on quality and design. In addition to efficiency and performance, PRINOTH also attaches great importance to design and expressivity: operators should be able to climb into their vehicle with a sense of pride and joy and enjoy the “driving pleasure.” The company promotes these emotions with the visual appearance of the vehicles, for which no less than Pininfarina is responsible.

ZERMATT

A perfect slope is the minimum requirement! Therefore, it is not surprising that Markus Hasler, CEO of the Zermatt Bergbahnen AG ski region, relies on the expertise of the world’s best snow groomer: Zermatt is LEITWOLF country!

“In the years 2014 and 2016, Zermatt took first place in the ‘Best Ski Resort’ ski resort rating,” says a delighted Markus Hasler. “The Slope Quality and Slope Grooming category were rated by the demanding guests with absolute top marks. A confirmation and at the same time an accolade for the work performance and quality of PRINOTH’s LEITWOLF snow groomers.”

The ski resort of superlatives sets the highest standards everywhere. The Zermatt LEITWOLF fleet provides the perfect slopes; our colleagues at LEITNER for high-altitude trips in an elegant design: the world’s highest three-rope cable car is being built here on time for the start of the 2018/2019 winter season (see page 137). With the friendly support of Bernhard Walch, Director at IBC Insurance Broking, the latest achievement for Zermatt was recently brought to the new Swiss home: a LEITWOLF X in exclusive Zermatt mountain railway design!

Zermatt, a place that makes the hearts of mountaineers worldwide beat faster. The majestic Matterhorn, Switzerland’s landmark and probably the most famous mountain in the world, rises majestically above the Swiss holiday resort. Thousands of mountaineers come here every year to meet the challenge of the 4478 meters in altitude and follow in the footsteps of many legends.

Of course, the Zermatt Bergbahnen AG ski area is also one of the most prestigious ski desti-nations in the world. It’s not only those who are looking for a sporting challenge that come to Zermatt - the rich and beautiful are continuously coming and going here.

Loen lies at the foot of the Hoven and is a magical attraction for nature lovers: the magnificent view of the unique fjord landscape draws thousands of visitors

all year round. Legend has it that the Hoven was born on a stormy night when Sleipnir, Odin’s eight-legged horse, loosened a rock after a huge leap from a neighboring mountain. Anyone who has seen the spectacular landscape can un-derstand the countless myths and legends of gods, trolls and mythical creatures that surround the impressive scenery.

The Skylift, which was opened in 2017, connects the city to the mountain peak and makes the nature paradise accessible not only to gods and trolls, but also to ski tourers and snowshoe hikers. And so, a very real, legendary creature like the PRINOTH HUSKY has recently started to make its way over the Hoven: the PRINOTH HUSKY. The HUSKY will conjure up the slopes for cross-country skiers of the Skylift and provide unforgettable holiday experiences. Equipped with the luxurious PRINOTH passenger transport cabin, it is also the good fairy in case of accidents in the winter landscape and if winter tourists need to be taken quickly to the nearest supply station.

For decades, the Daytons have relied on the performance of the PRINOTH HUSKY. “This piece of equipment truly heralds the 21st century. It performs better than any other groomer we have ever driven or tried. It was tested on the highest mountains in High Country, in all snow conditions and with precision technology,” say the Daytons. “The HUSKY is by far the best snow groomer we’ve ever owned and used for cross-country skiing.” The Daytons are not only convinced by the pure performance of the HUSKY, but also by the cost-efficiency and the PRINOTH service. “With the HUSKY, our work has become much more efficient – operator training has been streamlined, the spare parts supply is running smoothly and the maintenance and service options offered by PRINOTH are excellent,” enthuses Gene Dayton. “Not to mention the best-in-class cross-country ski trail the HUSKY leaves behind.”

They are two genuine HUSKY fans! At the “Oh, Be Joyful Lodge” there are numerous PRINOTH products for sale - but the favorite object is undoubtedly the HUSKY. “We have it here as a demonstration object for interested customers. Of course, with or without a passenger cabin,” smiles Therese Dayton.

With so much enthusiasm, there was soon a new concept idea with the HUSKY as protagonist: Adventure safari trips through the Beckenridge Woods in the passenger cabin! So much passion is contagious: meanwhile, brides and grooms also get a taste of an extravagant wedding. The hackney carriages through the town center seem to be yesterday’s water under the bridge....

For Therese and Gene Dayton it’s all or nothing at all! They have been running the Nordic Center in Beckenridge, Colorado, with a lot of passion since 1969. What began as a ski school for differently abled children and athletes is now much more than that. The Beckenridge Nordic Center also includes the complete care for all aspects of cross-country skiing (repair, rental, waxing...), guided ski and snowshoe hikes as well as the organization of special events. In the hand-built wooden log cabin called “Oh, Be Joyful” there is also a Black Forest style tavern.

TRAIL GROOMING

TRAIL GROOMING WITH THE HUSKY CREATES THE OPTIMAL ROUTE FOR SNOWMOBILES

Whether as a working tool for forestry workers, as a means of transport for slope rescue and snowmobile safaris, or simply as a guarantee for off-road and freestyle fun at high speed - the list of what a snow-mobile can do is long. The vehicles are rightly popular, especially in North America, where the modern snowmobile was born. A first prototype was built in the 1920s as a “ski-dog”. A typographical mistake made it a Ski-Doo - a name that is still used today and also stands for daring jumps and stunts every winter at the X-Games in the United States.

But the fun on the trails must be well prepared. Suitable snowmobile trails are a must for touring safely with the snowmobile. The prepa-ration of the perfect trail requires a vehicle with low ground pres-sure and a tight turning radius - and the HUSKY by PRINOTH ensures both. Extremely maneuverable, reliable and equipped with a powerful drive, it prepares and maintains snowmobile trails efficiently. The quick-junction connectors for rear implement and the 12-way blade enable extreme flexibility in trail grooming. So, it’s no wonder that the HUSKY is also becoming more and more popular in the trails of North America.

I beg your pardon? What? Skiing in Holland? That’s right. The Dutch are enthusiastic skiers and drive long highway rides to indulge their favorite hobby. To bring the world of winter sports home, indoor ski runs are increasingly becoming an exciting al-ternative. In the meantime, there are real winter world parallel universes that provide a diverse offering of skiing fun all year round, even on natural snow! The Montana Snowcenter, in the Center Parcs resort near Valkenswaard, is one of these indoor ski facilities.

Even the most experienced skiers and snowboarders can ski on 7000m² of slopes - 365 days a year! In addition, there is the all-round carefree package with ski rental, ski school, après-ski bars and restaurants - just like in a “normal” outdoor ski resort in the mountains.

And of course, a first-class snow groomer is also needed to give ski tourists the right feeling on the slopes. The PRINOTH HUSKY has proven to be the perfect choice for Montana - as for many other indoor ski runs worldwide: the PRINOTH engine technology allows cutting nitrogen oxide and particulate matter emissions by 90%! In addition to clean technology, the agility and versatility of the HUSKY are unbeatable arguments. The snow groomer operators at Montana were particularly impressed by how “the HUSKY runs quietly and smoothly. It’s almost as if it drives itself and it looks good,” enthuses the Montana Snowcenter.

Funslopes is exactly what the name says: fun on the mountain! Funslopes is a perfect combination of slopes, snow park and cross, a theme park for everyone who wants to experience something special during their skiing or snowboarding trip. Funslopes’ goal is to give day visitors an exciting change and a first feeling for freestyle. It is an amusement park where fun for all guests is a priority. Funslopes is what the name says: Fun for Everyone!

The professionals of the Shape Academy are among the best freestyle sport engineers. They design, build and maintain the Funslopes. The Shape Academy relies on PRINOTH X vehicles - because they are the best park construction vehicles available.

The understanding of skiing and snowboarding has changed dramatically in recent years. In the last decade, pictures of freshly snowed-in deep-snow slopes have lured winter sports enthusiasts in droves to the mountains and nowadays spectacular videos of daring extreme athletes dominate the media. Guests want adventure and real experiences in the mountains. The Young Mountain Marketing firm, which started its activities in extreme sports, has recognized this need for new fun concepts at an early stage and, with the Funslopes brand, it has had a stroke of genius for modern ski resorts and their guests. This team of professionals in resort construction and extreme sports marketing has already met with great success as the largest supplier of snow parks in the Alpine region for more than 10 years now, filling a huge gap in the offering of ski destinations. Funslopes is unique facility that makes skiing fun beyond the classic piste skiing experience for young and old, professional racers or beginners alike. Simple but spectacular obstacles that have to be crossed or passed through offer the right mix of speed and fun. “Fun for Everyone” is Funslopes’ motto and this is the most important aspect of their concepts, which are only created by true professionals with years of experience in the construction of ski facilities and in snow handling. Daily maintenance and support with safety checks ensure uninterrupted quality. PRINOTH X vehicles are the vehicles of choice for meeting this high standard. Funslopes guarantees that no one, whether young or old, gets bored during their ski trip.

COOPERATION

“At present, PRINOTH offers the best! ”

Roland Winkler, Technical Director of the Shape Academy

The Shape Academy, with its 220 members, is the world’s largest professional crew for park and snow construction. On behalf of Young Mountain Marketing GmbH, it designs, builds and manages QParks, Funslopes and Funcross. This winter, the number of parks amounted to more than 115 in Austria, Italy, Germany, France and Switzerland.

But even the Young Mountain Shape Academy would soon look old without the support of machinery to implement their “young mountains.” Over the course of long-term cooperation, PRINOTH is supplying its latest BISON X models as Shape Academy Signature Vehicles. “For us, this cooperation is extremely important because our staff have the best training opportunities that the market has to offer. With the new PRINOTH vehicles, we can keep our promise of quality to our customers and our employees,” says Roland Winkler, technical director of the Shape Academy and ‘groomer connoisseur’. The maneuverability to performance ratio of PRINOTH X groomers is unparalleled on the market and there is no better tiller machine that is so simple and efficient to operate!

In winter, the Shape Academy’s vehicle operators often spend countless hours in the cockpit. “The seating comfort of the new groomers, and especially the seats of the BISON X, make even long shifts with hours of detail work easy to bear. The center seat, which can be shifted to the left and right, is worth its weight in gold in many situations, and no other supplier is able to make things easier,” Roland explains enthusiastically about the advantages of the PRINOTH groomers. “...And I’m really very sensitive about sitting comfort,” he adds laughing. The declared aim of cooperation between the two sides is to “apply real-life experience in the factory and, if possible, to implement them.”

In the Shape Academy, PRINOTH X groomers find exactly the terrain for which they were developed. The system professionals, on the other hand, have the right tool for their job with the BISON X, as Roland also sees it, because “good work needs good tools and PRINOTH simply offers the best!”

Last year, the shape crew, under the management of F-TECH Snowparks, convinced with their precision work. With technical aids such as the 3D snow depth measurement system by Leica iCONalpine, it was possible to set the perfect course directly on the snow groomers.

In the second edition, F-TECH Snowparks could not do without this technological advance, and innovation will continue to advance. Assuming precise planning, the monitors installed in the snow groomer, with snow depth measurement and terrain profile, make the daily work of the shape crew tremendously easier.

The snow groomer operators are able to implement the planned obstacles and structures with extraordinary precision. It is possible to control and pre-set at any time the parameters such as heights, gradients and radii of landings and tables that change due to use and weather conditions. In addition, it is also possible to monitor the daily progress of construction work and thus optimize the times and hours of operation of personnel and machine. Therefore, a slopestyle course cannot only be maintained at the same level from the beginning to the end of the season; it is also a guarantee for safety and functionality.

STYLISH & LEGENDARY - THE COMPETITIONS OF THE F.I.S. SEISER ALM LEGENDS WORLD CUP 2018 After the first edition of the Seiser Alm Legends 2017 was a complete success, the event and the cooperation with PRINOTH entered the second round in March 2018. Also this year, F-TECH Snowparks used the BISON X with AUTOMATIC winch to create the slopestyle course.

PASSO DELLO STELVIO – AN INTERNATIONAL DESTINATIONThe popularity of the Passo dello Stelvio ski resort, one of the last summer ski resorts in the Alps, located north of the Ortler-Massiv at a scenic altitude of between 2760m and 3450m, is a testament to the successful cooperation between PRINOTH, Passo dello Stelvio lift company and the Boardercross Team Italia. Two feeder lifts and four ski lifts provide access to the ski resort, with its perfectly prepared slopes that draw an international crowd, as Umberto Capitani, Director of Passo dello Stelvio lift company confirms: “Passo dello Stelvio began in the ‘50s as a ski resort as ski sports developed around the world and became an international hub for anyone practicing the sport.” Numerous athletes have made use of the optimal training conditions offered: “Passo dello Stelvio is a reference point for national teams,” which leads Capitani back to PRINOTH’S technical developments, “Our cooperation with PRINOTH has certainly also strengthened those in international teams who always have the opportunity to train under optimal conditions.”

THE BOARDERCROSS TEAM ITALY: PERFECT TRAINING CONDI-TIONS FOR SUCCESSThe Italian boardercross team has been training on the slopes of the Stilfser Joch from June to November for about 15 years. For several seasons now, the prepar-ation for competition by the team, who has now reached a very good ranking, occurred in cooperation with PRINOTH, because the prerequisite for excellent training is a slope that is precisely tailored to specific requirements. “PRINOTH’s support on site is fundamental for the preparation and construction of the trails,” emphasizes Luca Pozzolini, trainer of the Boardercross Team Italy. “Ten years ago, what can be done with PRINOTH vehicles today was impossible. Together with the PRINOTH team, we determine the structure inside the cabin, such as the length and width of the jumping ramp and landing area and other characteristics.” So, it’s no wonder that other teams want to benefit from the same optimal training condi-tions. “Since PRINOTH has been cooperating with us on the Stilfser Joch, word has spread,” reveals Pozzolini. “Almost all teams at European level have used our trail.”

The Schladming-Dachstein region in Austria has one more attraction: a new permanent cross-country ski trail for international freestyle pros. This winter the PRINOTH X Crosspark was built on the Reiteralm. Not only for international teams, the park offers unique training and racing opportuni-ties, as well as fun on the slopes, for the many winter sports enthusiasts from the region.

The PRINOTH X Crosspark consists of two courses: + a World Cup-level, top equipped cross-country trail for top athletes

+ a varied and sporty route for the whole family

And PRINOTH is right in the middle of it all as a sponsor and name giver!

One of the highlights of the course is the so-called “alpine hut jump” - the skiers jump through an alpine hut and a photo is taken automatically as they jump through it, so the guests can take it home with them. In addition to the ÖSV national team, other top athletes also train on the course and prepare for World Cup and Olympic competitions.

PRINOTH delivers the technical know-how that park designers have come to rely on with the X vehicles - with now eight international collaborations, the PRINOTH X-Community is the world’s largest network of professional park designers. “We are very happy and proud to be able to use the PRINOTH Crosspark as a perfect, permanent training and competition ground and we are preparing for the Olympic Games,” says the ÖSV team. With our own PRINOTH Crosspark - and thanks to the trust of the Reiteralm and the ÖSV - we are once again sending the message that PRINOTH Park technology is the best.

INGENIOUS PLANNING REQUIRES RELIABLE IMPLEMENTATIONThere is no risk at all of getting bored at White Industries Ltd. The specialist in the design and construction of FIS snowboard cross and ski cross race courses can look back on more than 40 years of experience in the construction of race circuits and is also an organizer of some of the biggest events on the freestyle scene. Since 2016, the passionate White Industries team has been proud and convinced of its cooperation with PRINOTH. With PRINOTH’s uniquely equipped fleet of vehicles, even the most demanding professionals with the most innovative ideas are well served.

WHAT & WHEREWhite Industries Ltd. has not only been very busy at Europe’s ski resorts (more on page 37): in North America too, numerous spectacular constructions, circuits and training grounds with the typical White Industries mark have recently sprung out of the ground. Among other things, the creative minds at Ski Cooper or Nakiska, as well as at the Panorama Ski Resort British Columbia have been raving. And PRINOTH’s BISON X, the undisputed park professional, has been part of the party. The know-how of White Industries and PRINOTH will also be in great demand at the USSA Nor Am Hole Shot Tour to be held at the Sunday River ski resort, Maine, on February 14th and 15th, 2018! With so many upcoming projects, Nick is pleased that his team has grown richer with the entry of an experienced newcomer to the staff: Alex Graves is an old stager in park construction, who has been designing the ski runs for years at Sunday River.

Nothing new in the West? Are you kidding? PRINOTH’s cooperation partner White Industries Ltd. is planning a whole series of exciting projects this season. PRINOTH World has contacted Nick Roma, Director of Operations at White Industries Ltd. for more information...

Ryan Cochran-Siegle, athlete to the US Ski Team since aged 18, was more or less born on ski: He learned to ski aged 2 and began ski racing by the age of 5. Ryan made the U.S. Ski Team his senior year of high school at the age of 18, two years later he raced his first World Cup in Lake Louise. After two injuries, he has been slowly working his way back on the World Cup.PRINOTH is proud to be official partner of the US Ski Team for already 4 years now. We got the chance for a little chat with Ryan at Lake Louise.

Tell us a bit about your evolution in your sport and what the US Ski Team represents to you.At a young age all of my races were held close to home, in the Northern Vermont Council, and then eventually spread throughout the North Eastern Region of the United States. The US Ski Team means a lot to me, as they have continued their unrelenting support through my forced time off and helped me get back to where I am today. To me, the U.S. Ski Team represents all the behind the scenes hard work that doesn’t get the credit it deserves.

Snow groomers are a big part of course preparation, what are your expectations towards the result generated by such equipment?Snow groomers have changed the sport of skiing and snowboarding immensely for the better since first being introduced. Because most race hills nowadays rely on heavy man-made snowmaking operations, the use of snow cats to finish prepping the hill is necessary for creating a safe consistent surface that racers have come to rely and trust. Without these critical pieces of equipment, most venues, i.e. Beaver Creek, Val Gardena, Kitzbühl, etc. would be far more dangerous to host a ski race. Groomers also greatly influence the terrain builds of certain race hills, ensuring a nicer flow that allows more enjoyment to the racer as well as better viewership for the fans.

PRINOTH is Official Supplier of the US Ski Team for its 4th season in a row… what does this represent to you? What do you associate with PRINOTH?Having PRINOTH be an Official Supplier over the past four years represents a sense of trust that our team has come to rely on regarding hill prep and team support. Without PRINOTH, the U.S. Ski Team would not be able to achieve the same success that makes us one of the most competitive ski nations in the world. It’s PRINOTH’s devotion to innovation, efficiency, and driven perfection that separates them from the rest!

PRINOTH has been grooming slopes for world champions for more than 50 years: countless partnerships with the most prestigious World Cup events such as Val Gardena, Åre, Aspen, Lake Louise and many more speak volumes: PRINOTH guarantees the perfect slope and also fosters tomorrow’s world champions.

The TSV is the professional association of around 240 Tyrolean ski clubs, the largest of all nine Austrian Ski Associations and itself a member of the Austrian Ski Association (ÖSV). In its 100 years of existence, the TSV has provided many Tyrolean athletes with the basic support they have needed to become world leaders, so that by the anniversary year in 2013 90, TSV athletes managed to return with medals from Olympic Winter Games or World Championships.

As a Tyrolean company, it is in our interest to promote both competitive and amateur sports in the country and to contribute to the training of future Olympic athletes and competitors.

PRINOTH is therefore proud to support TSV in its important and honorary work. With PRINOTH and the Tyrolean Ski Association TSV, two great names in winter sports who really care about promoting Tyrolean skiing come together.

FUN FOR EVERYONE: PRINOTH PAVES THE WAYPRINOTH AND SNOW OPERATING FOSTER YOUNG TALENT WITH TERRAIN-BASED LEARNING FACILITIES IN NORTH AMERICA

TERRAIN-BASED LEARNING SLOPES - PERFECT CONDITIONS FOR (RE-)ENTRYSince 2016, PRINOTH’s successful partnership with SNOW OPERATING from North America has proven its worth in promoting skiing and snowboarding. With the renowned learning method of the Terrain Based Learning Program, SNOW OPERATING is designed for beginners and re-starters in particular. The terrain is specially prepared with PRINOTH’s agile HUSKY: the snow bed is prepared for speed and direction of travel, thus facilitating the practice of specific movement patterns. Fast learning success and fun on the slopes are guaranteed for young and old.

SNOW OPERATING ON THE ROAD TO SUCCESSThe comprehensive learning method of SNOW OPERATING has been a resounding success in recent years: the number of guests on the perfectly groomed slopes and the popularity of skiing and snowboarding in general have increased. That is why SNOW OPERATING is becoming active on more and more slopes around the world with the HUSKY - now in over 40 ski resorts. The company has also taken over the management of the Mountain Creek in New Jersey. A highly anticipated highlight of SNOW OPERATING’s activities will be the opening of Big SNOW America in May 2019 at the American Dream resort in New Jersey, North America’s first year-round indoor ski park with real snow.

The PRINOTH Cup was the moment of truth, because it was here that the best of the best from all over the world came together. Skill, precision and steel-hard nerves were required in the disci-plines - but first and foremost the fun of snow groomer driving! The competition for the PRINOTH Cup is a friendly competition to meet colleagues and have fun together. Of course, there are also the great prizes to be won every time! The SNOWLICIOUS will provide the par-ticipants with tasty snacks and a musical side program will warm up the mood. MATE TOUGHNESS TEST

2018

THE “TEST THE BEST” ROADSHOW CONTINUES...

PRINOTHWORLD 2018 — PAGE 89 | 90

TEST THE BEST is the name of the PRINOTH test tour, where our customers have the unique opportunity to try out PRINOTH snow groomers to their heart’s content.

For snow groomer operators, the PRINOTH demo events in Europe and North America are what a Star Trek Convention is for trekkers: there are so many high-tech and futuristic features to discover - and to try out! Among other things, PRINOTH’s SNOW HOW analysis and con-sulting software can be tested as well. Of course, the new generation of PRINOTH snow groomers is also available exclusively for testing. TEST THE BEST is always a kind of family get-together: like-minded people talk shop about the latest technology, they exchange ideas, make new contacts and share their experiences.

ONCE PRINOTH, ALWAYS PRINOTHEvery ski resort is different, and every operator attaches special importance to different features - we know this and offer the right equipment for every application. Since the PRINOTH portfolio is not exactly small, the choice can be difficult. The best way to do this is to follow the motto “try it all out” and test directly on site how it feels to master the slopes in a PRINOTH vehicle, to have a perfect overview from the central seat of the luxurious driver’s cabin and to conquer a 100% incline with the AUTOMATIC winch. No matter what your needs, no matter what your requirements: everyone will find the right vehicle here. But watch out! Anyone who has come into contact with the PRINOTH spirit should be careful: there is a serious risk of be-coming addicted!

drives with the snow groomers LEITWOLF, BISON and HUSKY as well as with our tracked vehicle PANTHER demonstrated to the numerous visitors on site that PRINOTH is a world leader in the development and construction of special vehicles for snow and other terrain.

In addition, PRINOTH product specialists provided information about the special features offered: innovations and improvements in hardware and software were presented. The iCON Alpine snow measurement system by Leica Geosystems and the fleet management software for maximizing efficiency were met with great interest.

In Utah, special attention was paid to another product from PRINOTH Granby: the PANTHER series. Interested parties from the construction industry were pleased with the opportunity to test the reliable tools for extreme applications.

In February, the participants of the demo event at the Snowbasin Resort in Utah were able to see the advantages of PRINOTH’s products for themselves. Test

TRAINING

The challenges for ski resorts are getting bigger and bigger. Costs continue to rise but cannot be passed on to the customer one-to-one. In such a high-tension context, efficient handling of snow groomers is of central importance. PRINOTH has developed a training concept for this very purpose that cannot get any more personalized.

OPERATOR TRAINING COURSES ON SITE IN THEORY AND PRACTICENo matter where, the perfect slope is the fruit of the interaction of man and machine. PRINOTH operator training explains in theory and practice the technical sophistications of the high-tech machinery and demonstrates their potential on site. Customer needs are our top priority: training is individually adapted to the operator’s level of knowledge, the requirements of the ski area and the existing snow groomer - irrespective of the vehicle type and manufacturer. Functions of the machinery, special features of the terrain and various snow conditions are explained and tested together. Whether it’s first-time intro-

duction or advanced training, the training provided by our experienced PRINOTH training team optimizes the use of operators and vehicles, including in the areas of sustainability and safety on slopes.

TRACKS

PRINOTHWORLD 2018 — PAGE 99 | 100

PRINOTH’s track portfolio is unmatched in the world: it offers the most comprehensive and sophisticated range of tracks in the entire industry and unlimited application possibilities all along the line! PRINOTH stands for the perfect slope - this requires excellent implementations with excellent tracks for all kinds of snow conditions. PRINOTH tracks are the most common and reliable on the international market.

PRINOTH-TRACKS IN ALL INSTANCESThe classic model is the PRINOTH steel track. It is particularly suitable for the hardest conditions and, therefore, has been PRINOTH‘s longest-lived and most service-friendly track. The steel track is an all-rounder and is offered with both open and closed profile, according to the particular tractive behaviour. An overlapping lock additionally simplies handling and makes the track more service-friendly.

PRINOTH‘s extremely durable and versatile aluminium track makes for perfect operation on powdery snow. Its outstanding qualities are steep climbing and ease of rotation. Here too the overlapping lock, which is particularly user- and service-friendly, scores highly.

In the PRINOTH range there is also an all-year-round track, which is ideal in smaller amounts of snow on account of its soil-protective action. It can be ready for operation in any season, and is suitable for transport of people or materials – especially in areas in which the vehicle frequently needs to cross the road.

Besides steel tracks, aluminium tracks and all-year tracks, the GAMS track capti-vates thanks to its special advantages. This track stands out with its steep clim-bing ability and an exceptional ease of rotation, and is distinguished moreover by its durability and efficiency. Thanks to its overlapping lock, it fulfils one of PRINOTH’s central criteria: easy handling with minimum maintenance costs.

THE FAVOURITE TRACK OF ALL VEHICLE BRANDSSo many positive characteristics cannot go unnoticed. And thus the PRINOTH track portfolio ranks among the most used and reliable tracks on the interna-tional market. Big plus point: the tracks are suitable to all current vehicle types on the market and, consequently, they are not just restricted to the PRINOTH community. No wonder this popular range is the first choice of all those who want only the best on the slopes.

SNOWLICIOUS AROUND THE WORLD

SNOWLICIOUS

A new pleasure concept conquers slopes around the world: PRINOTH snow groomers converted into mobile gourmet kitchens accompany the events of the season.

FROM INNOVATIVE VISION TO SUCCESS STORYThis winter, SNOWLICIOUS has been touring ski resorts around the world for the third time. Designed for the first time in 2015 by the Italian star chef Andrea Campi and created with the help of PRINOTH snow groomers, the taste sensation is finding more and more fans on European ski slopes in a dreamlike mountain scenery. Since 2017, the mobile star kitchen has also been on the road to success on American slopes.

NO SKI EVENT WITHOUT SNOWLICIOUSAs a result of PRINOTH’s successful cooperation with Audi, the participants of the Audi FIS World Cup finals in Aspen in March 2017 already profited from the gourmet wave that has crossed the Atlantic. The SNOWLICIOUS food trucks also accompanied the races of the Lake Louise Alpine Ski World Cup from November to December 2017. “It was great to have you at the World Cup,” said Kim Locke, holder of the Lake Louise Resort. “The SNOWLICIOUS is a real highlight!” At the World Championships in Italy, the SNOWLICIOUS was playing at home and was involved, of course. Just like the particularly demanding Freeride World Tour Xtreme Verbier.

DELICACY WITH MUSIC AND ENTERTAINMENTThe new edition of the RDS 100% Great Successes winter tour was also enriched by the not-to-be-missed experience of taste by SNOWLICIOUS. The pleasure of good food was combined with a wonderful mountain scenery on the most beau-tiful ski slopes in Europe and expanded the already rich RDS animation program, ensuring fun on the slopes for the whole family. “SNOWLICIOUS means not only excellent food, but also entertainment,” enthusiastically pointed out the RDS Play On Tour organizers.

MASTERCHEF ITALY ON THE SLOPES: COOKING DUEL IN THE GOURMET MOBILEThose who wanted to experience the possibilities of mobile gourmet cuisine at close quarters without getting cold feet had the opportunity to do so on Italy’s highest mountain pass. The summer ski area at Stilfser Joch served as an impres-sive backdrop for the episode broadcast in February 2018 by MasterChef Italy. Two teams demonstrated their culinary skills in the converted SNOWLICIOUS snow groomers. One thing’s for sure: in the future we will be looking forward to inspiring recipes and extravagant pictures!

Altec DT80 Digger Derrick offers its operator outstanding visibility and provides better angles of attack both in the front of the unit since the outriggers are positioned no longer in front of the cab but behind the cab, and a departure angle superior to any vehicle on the market for this size.

Overall, the unit supplies increased safety and off-road mobility as well as allowing customers to have a winch installed in the front or in the back of the unit without compromising its off-road capabilities.

“The unit is incredibly exciting in terms of innovation and we’re excited to have ALTEC’s unit sitting on a PRINOTH PANTHER T16 Rubber Track. What’s more, the installation of the digger derrick/outrigger package was really smooth since the unit is entirely bolted on and no welding was needed,” commented Amine Khimjee, PRINOTH’s manager on the ALTEC account.

One of PRINOTH’s main OEM-partners, ALTEC, just became the first OEM to offer an off-road vehicle with outriggers behind the cab… and of course, it’s a PRINOTH PANTHER. In fact, it is the brand new version of the T16 running on rubber tracks.

The vehicle has many benefits and offers the best off-road capacities in the utility market. For starters, this version of the PANTHER T16 equipped with an

pany capable of working with them the Caterpillar® way. “We needed to be able to follow the rules, to find a really good but safe product. With this PANTHER, all the safety criteria were there! Overall, our entire team was impressed by the level of professionalism from the PRINOTH team,” commented Lindley Imeson on why PLM chose PRINOTH and its PANTHER line-up.

When PRINOTH agreed to paint the vehicles that famous CAT yellow, PLM felt confident that its technicians would be comfortable servicing the units and that they would treat the units as CAT products. It took about six months for the dealer to release the news of this new addition to their line-up and when the announcement came, the Edmonton native felt proud to have a Canadian product offered worldwide by a global company such as Caterpillar.

The relationship the two companies have developed goes deep. From adapting to the CAT system for product support to the service coordinators having a weekly meeting to tackle all projects and issues, PLM feels that the support from PRINOTH is at the heart of the success of this long-lasting partnership.

Like in any relationship, collaboration is key. “PRINOTH really rose to the occasion to serve us, commented Lindley, especially when you consider that it all started with two guys wandering around in their yard from a company they barely even knew!”

Pipeline Machinery® (PLM) is certainly one of the most important business partners’ for PRINOTH’s Tracked Vehicle product range. They are specialized in pipeline machinery and a major player in the global oil & gas construction industry. PRINOTH is very proud to be associated with PLM. But you might wonder: How did this great partnership all start?

It all began with a person named Lindley Imeson from Edmonton, Alberta who worked in the pipeline industry and yes, it started with Google! In 2012, Mr. Imeson was looking for a utility truck able to work around welders and haul mats that could travel in tough envi-ronments without ending up with a flat tire.

After a short introduction from Marc Lepage, a sales manager at Hewitt CAT, (now Toromont), PRINOTH’s engine supplier and the CAT dealer for Quebec, Lindley and a colleague visited the PRINOTH factory in Granby, Canada and liked what they saw.

They saw a product that could work on all types of terrain, manufactured by a company adhering to the highest standards of quality, safety and respect for the environment. A com-

BUILDING HIGHWAYS IN NORWAY Off-road is truly where crawler carriers shine! Everyone knows that but an entrepreneur in Norway had a very clever idea… he decided to use tracked vehicles to build a highway!

The highway that separates Oslo and Lillehammer is the most used in Norway. Up to recently, after passing Hamar, there was only one lane each way making it quite dangerous for drivers. The highway is being enlarged and the grounds around are rather soft… One of Norway’s biggest entrepreneur’s, HÆHRE AS, in charge of an important section in the project, consulted PRINOTH’s Norwegian distributor, Owren, and decided to use two PRINOTH PANTHER T14R for that off-road portion. “These PANTHER off-road trucks work so well since they carry more and move faster than other brands… we’re getting much more for our investment,” commented the person in charge of the project to the team at Owren.

PRINOTH is highly involved with this project. In fact, mulching was also required in the beginning phases of the project and a RAPTOR 800 and a 400 were used to clear the way before the building phases began.

The highway should be ready in two years and Owren is hoping that more T14R will be sold to finish this project. A great use of our rotating dumper!

added to the standard model. Luckily, thanks to the versatility of the product and the flexibility of our factory, PRINOTH was able to provide the customized unit.

Since the unit works mainly in the beautiful fjords region, steep hills are very common. The options list to ensure top safety for the unit’s operators and by standing coworkers is impressive: starting with front and rear winches, capstan, front blade, cargo deck, and a rear camera.

The vehicle is very flexible due to the hook-lift system and will allow workers to change the configuration of the vehicle to a large cargo deck when bulk material transportation will be required. Another configuration is with the Palfinger® crane model PK 10002-SH, allowing workers to lift up to 5,700 kg and with the basket option, it is also good to lift people.

Our Norwegian partner Owren AS has sold the most customized PANTHER T6 unit ever! There are so many options on this unit, we’re having a hard time keeping up!

The customer, Statnett, Norway’s power utility corporation, needed a unit for its network development in the mountains of West Norway and options had to be

TRACKED VEHICLES

Upon taking delivery in beautiful Tuscany last November, the customer was excited to start working with a vehicle made to operate on soft grounds and able to climb steep, slippery, muddy slopes. The PANTHER’s outstanding traction and unique track design, offer the very best off-road capability on the market and will allow Mr. Danilo De Campo to transport electrical devices to the hydro-electric power station or pipings for penstocks, as well as moving big stones around on job sites.

The customer commented that he was very satisfied with the unit because the vehicle has good performance on muddy grounds, very good traction and overall, offers great transport performance. All in all, a successful sale that will be a reference to more PANTHERs crawling around on European jobsites.

PRINOTH was excited last fall when our globally present PANTHER was sold for the first time to an Italian customer. The unit, a PANTHER T8 equipped with a dump-box, a winch and FOPS cabin was purchased by De Campo Egidio Eredi S.N.C., a firm specializing in constructions for hydroelectric applications.

VEGETATION MANAGEMENT

As early as 2017, the number of mulchers sold increased significantly. In order to be prepared for further growth, many changes have recently been made at the Herdwangen site in Germany: new overhead and column-mounted slewing cranes, new and remote-controlled hall doors, etc., to enable efficient working conditions and to be optimally equipped for further growth.

Each mulcher undergoes intensive quality assurance on the new test bench, so that we can continue to meet our high standards.

INVESTMENTS FOR THE FUTURE - FOR ENTHUSIASTIC CUSTOMERS AND: …FOR SOLID GROUND!Highest quality and efficiency, speed and enthusiastic customers - these are the challenges we set for ourselves.

and impassable terrain - is a real lightweight: its robust track is made of rubber instead of the usual steel. This means that the RAPTOR 300r can even cross asphalt roads “without a trace” and is also fit for any type of applications.

The 3-point connection of the RAPTOR 300r allows excellent flexibility in attachments.

The RAPTOR 300r is ideally suited for work under power lines, around pipelines and near roads and it sets the standard for classic maintenance measures as well as large-scale clearing operations. On difficult terrain, the RAPTOR 300r shows what happens when efficiency and mobility merge at the highest level. Reliable and productive work is guaranteed!

Anyone who says that it is impossible to leave traces with low ground pressure has not met the RAPTOR 300r yet! The special-purpose tracked vehicle - for use on particularly difficult

MULCHERS FOR EVERY NEED MAXIMUM PRODUCTIVITY

The M550e-1300 is designed for heavy weights, while ensuring ease of use. It stands out for its optimal power transmission. This means a positive impact on operating costs thanks to increased productivity. Of course, flexible mounting on various carriers is also ensured with the M550e-1300. The universal plate can be applied on the left or right of the mulcher. Instant individual change is possible.

TIRELESSLY MULCHINGOur mulchers are becoming widely used. Sophisticated PRINOTH technology makes the equipment lighter and more stable at the same time. All new equipment can be operated both hydraulically and mechanically, therefore covering a wider range of applications. With the constant expansion of our portfolio we are able to equip excavators, tractors and skid steers seamlessly from 6 to 30 tons with mulchers!

PRINOTH is also a step ahead in vegetation management.

LIGHTWEIGHT The M450e-900 is a lightweight mulcher for 6-12 ton excavators. The weight is strongly optimized and allows easy handling. In particular, the already installed gearmotor allows simplified mounting on various excavators as well as rapid changing of carrier units, without the installation of additional drain lines.

TO EACH ITS OWNThe M450e-1100 mulcher is the middle range for use on 12-to-18-ton excavators and the FM500e for excavators from 18 to 23 tons. The new M550e-1300 is the solution for heavy-duty jobs. This mulcher is designed for excavators in the 18-25-ton range. The power pack ensures top shredding quality thanks to the counterblades and is rein-forced with wear-resistant steel, even in critical points of the housing.

VEGETATION MANAGEMENT

The starting signal in Herdwangen for the new technician train-ing on the RAPTOR 300 and attachments in September 2017 was a successful start for the advanced training of our vegetation management partners’ technical personnel. For the one-week training, technicians and repair shop managers from Norway and Denmark travelled to attend the basic training of the RAPTOR 300 and other attachments.

The mix of theory and practice was balanced and provided the par-ticipants with an insight into the mechanics, hydraulics and elec-trical systems of the carrier vehicle in the individual modules. In addition, the attachment was mounted on a tractor to be able to address topics such as three-point linkage, tractor specification and the attachment itself.

Therefore, a good foundation has been laid for the training courses of our other partners: in the future, there will be other training courses in this format to increase technical quality on site and to give cus-tomers even more confidence in our machines. The next dates will be in June (CW23) and November (CW47). Details will be announced on our homepage.

More than 2,800 exhibitors and 490,000 visitors from 115 countries - that was the im-pressive result of Agritechnica 2017 in Hanover. And once again PRINOTH participated together with the Maisraupe company from Franconia, Germany.

PRINOTH AGRIPOWERWith the vehicles on display, visitors were able to see the quality of the equipment for themselves. The PRINOTH and Maisraupe team offered interested parties from all over the world an insight into the jointly developed power high tech for silage and biomass processing: the LEITWOLF AGRIPOWER brings proven slope grooming know-how to the silo - especially its compaction performance, which was illustrated by videos in slow motion, was met with great interest by the visitors.

PRINOTH VEGETATION MANAGEMENTIn addition to the massive LEITWOLF AGRIPOWER, the robust RAPTOR 300r, which was presented with two different crawler tracks, also impressed at the stand. The S700e stump grinder was also able to impress with its practical features, such as simple mounting and low weight. Together with the Mulcher series, M450e-900, M650-2350 and M650h-2350, the PRINOTH stand impressed with all-purpose and innovative solutions in forestry and agri-culture. The combined power of the machinery and know-how at the PRINOTH/Maizeraupe stand was convincing - the first sales successes have already been achieved on site and others will follow.

system remains unswervingly the best choice. It is powered by a proven MAN D 2876 engine with 435 HP and 12.8-liter displacement. The maximum torque of 2000 Nm already at 1400 rpm ensures lower fuel consumption and maximum power. The low ground pressure prevents sinking in and the tracks allow fast and trouble-free progress and extreme climbing ability. The PRINOTH LEITWOLF for silage delivers the perfect working result with top pushing performance thanks to the 12-way blade. The large-surface, all-round glazing around the driver’s cab and extremely high maneuverability complete the advantages of this powerful all-purpose machine.

ACCLAIMED SHOOTING STAR AT AGRITECHNICALast year, PRINOTH AGRIPOWER was presented at Agritechnica and it was met with great interest by decision-makers. Interest was high among the almost 500,000 visitors and experts. As the most important trade fair in the international agricultural engineering sector, a successful debut is regarded almost as a sort of accolade. The outsider in silage becomes the alpha animal!

FROM THE SNOW TO THE SILOEven off regular ski trails, PRINOTH vehicles are convincing all the way. These versatile powerful vehicles have long since conquered new areas of application in a wide variety of fields, including agriculture. In the meantime, snow groomers are not uncommon for silage. Of course, you can’t bring a snow groomer as it is from the snow to the silo. But you can use the know-how of rough terrain for optimal agricultural applications. And that’s exactly what PRINOTH does.

THE NUMBER 1 IN SILAGEOur name is now also a staple in the agriculture and forestry program! As an uncompromising special vehicle for pushing and compacting silage, the LEITWOLF as a PRINOTH AGRIPOWER vehicle (also known as corn caterpillar) with its specially modified PRINOTH crawler track

WINTER AT ITS BEST

LEITNER ROPEWAYS

Not only PRINOTH and DEMACLENKO, but also LEITNER ropeways and Pininfarina are a well-coordinated team. This is testified by the latest project of their cooperation: the Symphony 10 Premium cabin and modern station. LEITNER ropeways provides maximum comfort that the Italian design firm wraps in pure elegance.

The new station with a Pininfarina look places particular emphasis on maximum functionality in operation and maintenance. For example, the ascent to the roof, which is now possible from inside the station, has been redesigned. Thanks to the new inclination of the roofing, it is now possible to apply a ladder on the inside of the window and to reach the roof comfortably and safely through the new opening direction of the windows.

The response was not long in coming: with Val Gardena and Kitzbühel, two top destinations that rely at the same time on the highest quality and innovation from LEITNER ropeways.

More space, more comfort when getting in and out of the cabin, additional personal space and genuine leather seats with automobile design. The new Symphony 10 cabin also features panoramic glazing, which has been adapted to the overall design - so don’t be surprised if a couple of guests might want to “miss the stop” to take a ride in the new luxury cabin.

ropeway. A spectacular project with its own specific hazards! The air conditions at high altitudes put much more strain on the body than in the valley and the danger of crevasses requires special caution. To make matters worse: harsh weather conditions. “In spite of the most challenging environmental conditions, the excellent cooperation between all companies involved in the construction work allowed making considerable progress. The implementation of the largest construction project in our history is on track,” says Markus Hasler, CEO of Zermatt Bergbahnen AG.

The ropeway project of superlatives will be completed by winter 2018/2019. However, the LEITNER Group is already there in a different form: a fleet of LEITWOLF vehicles are already elegantly making their way to the luxury ski resort and grooming the perfect slope.

LEITNER ropeways reaches for the sky - 3,821 m above sea level, to be precise. Europe’s highest construction site, the Klein Matterhorn, is home to the world’s highest three-cable

DEMACLENKO

A new product concept that confirms Demaclenko’s push into the medium-sized machine segment – the VENTUS 4.0 was developed in cooperation with the PININFARINA design studio. It is not merely a simple machine for producing snow, but a high-tech, functional product that is able to capture hearts and minds.

Ventus 4.0 is the result of an analysis of form and performance that has led to radical changes. The raised barrel is a more modern and at-tractive take on previous models, a shape that creates an impression of smoothness and softness, but also of originality and strength. The lower sections are in harmony with the overall appearance of the Ventus 4.0. The futuristic silhouette of the angular yet dynamic shapes and the innovative morphology find a perfect balance be-tween strength and fluid lines, concealing the air inlets and thus combining the stylistic and functional aspects of the system. The side surfaces are fitted with quick-release hooks that enable easier opening for maintenance work.

And the performance is top class: 20 kW power consumption com-bined with a water flow of 9 l/s, capable of producing up to 86 m3/h. Even better aerodynamic performance, with the new barrel optimiz-ing the air flow produced by the fan.

Ventus 4.0 is also unique in its low acoustic impact and signifi-cantly reduced sound frequency. Like the Silent 2.0, through the use of winglets and the new barrel, the machine has become even more silent and is therefore the perfect partner for anyone designing facilities close to populated areas or those with high tourist traffic, where one of the priorities is to provide a quiet, peaceful environ-ment, immersed in the alpine landscape.

VENTUS 4.0: POWER,TECHNOLOGY AND DESIGN.
