I. LIFE ROMANIA TEAM AT WORK.

Organization - who needs it? This seems to be a common question among church members. In

fact, there almost seems to be a hostility toward any kind of organization and planning in the life

of the church. WHY? Perhaps it is because we fear that if we organize and plan we may thwart

the leadership of the Holy Spirit in the life of our ministry.

This hostility may also arise from our fear of failure. When we organize and plan properly, we

set goals. We determine a course for the future. We put our goals on paper. And when we put

things on paper, accountability becomes more precise. We can tell whether we have reached our

goals or failed. In a way, it sometimes seems easier to talk about what we would like to see

happen and simply hope that by working hard somewhere along the way we will achieve our

goals. To tell the truth, it is easier to live life without accountability, but not better. It fact, life is

less than fulfilling when we have determined to live it in the land of mediocrity. Our fear of

Page 2: PRINCIPLES OF MINISTRY BUILDING FOR LIFE ROMANIA

failure keeps us from achieving our desired results in life, and we find ourselves empty and void

of purpose and meaning in life.

In the OT, Moses seems to have been at a point of desperation related to organization. As he

increased his involvement in judging the people of Israel, he began to experience a great deal of

frustration. His organizational skills were lacking, and his frustration turned to desperation. It

was at this point that Jethro helped Moses understand that organization can be used by God to

achieve His purposes. Moses had to learn that organization is basically the relationships of

people to other people ( Exod 18:13-27).

The same things that happen to us as individuals happens to organizations. Organization is

simply getting people in the right place at the right time in order to fulfill the objectives of the

group or class. When the individuals who make up an organization lose their enthusiasm for the

organization, it is not long before the organization begins to struggle and, if not revived, will

eventually die. This has happened to countless ministry organizations. When the individuals in

ministry have lost their desire and understanding of the purpose of the organization, it will not

be long before the ministry begins to decline. Creating a growing ministry is a fundamental step

in the individual’ ability to fulfill the challenge of the Great Commission. Organizing LIFE

Romania team for outreach begins with an adequate understanding of the tasks of the ministry

and how these tasks influence the ability of the church to fulfill the Great Commission.

These tasks include: reaching people for Christ, teaching the Bible, leading students to witness,

leading them to minister, leading them to worship, interpreting the work of the church in world

evangelism. Of these tasks the ability of LIFE Romania team to fulfill the tasks of witnessing is

most critical. Witnessing is not just a by-product of the ministry: it is the very heart of the

purpose for the ministry. Unless average ADULT and YOUTH members begin to share the Lord

Jesus with others, there is very little possibility that the millions of unchurched persons will be

reached for the Lord, Bible study and church membership. The diagram illustrates how the LIFE

Page 3: PRINCIPLES OF MINISTRY BUILDING FOR LIFE ROMANIA

Romania team should organize and carry out the tasks of the ministry and thus fulfill the Great

Commission.

Organization only takes you so far. Enthusiasm only takes you so far. There are many great organizations that are organized and enthusiastic that fail. THEREFORE, we need systems in place that promote effectiveness and results. We can have the most organized and enthusiastic person in a specific role and they can be terrible at that role. The point is that in order to execute the ministry strategy, we have to be organized and enthusiastic but we also have to be strong leaders that have unique skill sets to perform the specific jobs we have been tasked with. The role as key leader is to evaluate the job performance, shepherd them, instruct them on their specific job duties, encourage them, guide them through growing pains, show them how to improve and then evaluate their performance. Your evaluation is based on how they perform their job, how effective they are, how enthusiastic they are, their ability to work well with other members of the team, how seriously they take even the smallest details, and also how they take your constructive criticism. We can lead a horse to water, but we can't make him drink. If you coach someone up time and time again and they still show resistance in changing, then we have a problem. An old basketball coach used to always say that mistakes are ok to make, just don't make the

same mistakes twice. Learn from them and dedicate yourself to not making them again.

A. Iulian Avramescu & Emilio Molnar - The Ministers & Managers of MIA School

The Minister is primarily responsible for motivating the staff each week. It is very important that

he influence the lives of the team members relative to outreach. Team members’ attitude

concerning outreach is a mirror image of the attitude of the Minister. What the Minister thinks,

feels, and communicates about outreach will have a greater impact on the lives of the team

members.

Page 4: PRINCIPLES OF MINISTRY BUILDING FOR LIFE ROMANIA

There are several things the Minister can do to influence the staff to become involved in

outreach. The staff is most closely related to their Ministers.

1. The Minister can communicate the need for outreach.

The Minister must consistently be motivating the team to be involved in outreach and modeling

the way that evangelism is to take place if the team is to significantly impact the country for

Christ.

2. The Minister must be involved in weekly meetings/visitation.

The Minister must do this in order to lead the staff to be involved in meetings/visitation and

outreach. The visible presence of the Minister at meetings/visitation and outreach events is

essential if team members are going to be involved in soul winning.

3. The Minister must lead the team in planning outreach and evangelism events to reach the

members of the team.

This will require a knowledge of the spiritual condition of the team and the volunteers. The

Minister must be willing to meet with them to make sure of their spiritual condition. On

weekends the LIFE Romania team should give an evangelistic appeal at any event they

participate or organize to make sure of salvation and give an invitation for them to respond

to Christ. (what do you mean by evangelistic appeal?-Nathan)

4. The Minister can create a climate of evangelism in the event by encouraging prayer.

The spiritual condition of the staff members should be a part of every prayer time of the meeting,

and special prayer meetings should be scheduled to pray for the spiritual needs of the members

and volunteers. A praying team will be more effective in outreach. Why? Because outreach is

basically a relational experience. As we continue to pray for persons with whom we need to

Page 5: PRINCIPLES OF MINISTRY BUILDING FOR LIFE ROMANIA

witness, we find ourselves asking for the spiritual power to effectively share the gospel with

these persons. As we continue to pray, our love for these persons grows and we begin to become

concerned about them that we do not cease praying for them. Our relationships grow and before

long we find that we have gained enough trust that the person we are praying for is willing to

hear us as we share the plan of salvation.

Every team member ought to have a prayer list with more than just the needs of the sick.

5. The Minister must enlist the needed leadership that enables him to know the needs of the

members. (how many members are there?-Nathan)

Without constant reports concerning the needs of the members, the Minister cannot teach or

minister effectively to the members. Evangelism/outreach leaders and care leaders must be

enlisted to stay in touch with team member needs. There should be an adequate number of

outreach/evangelism leaders, assistant outreach leaders, volunteers, and care leaders in every

team who have the responsibility to communicate with volunteers and team members on a

weekly basis.

B. Teo Spiridon - Outreach/Evangelism & Manager of the Sport Tournaments

1. Their Importance.

This leader creates an atmosphere that encourages believers to reach out to other youth who are

unsaved and unchurched. This leader’s role in evangelism is vital to evangelizing through the

ministry. This person is responsible for organizing the team ministry for outreach. This person’s

primary responsibility is to secure volunteers from the church office making sure these

volunteers are cultivated and contacted consistently. Cultivation is especially important in

creating a climate for evangelism. The purpose is to invite the unsaved and unreached to the

Page 6: PRINCIPLES OF MINISTRY BUILDING FOR LIFE ROMANIA

events and other activities promoted by the ministry with the purpose of leading them to Christ

and getting the saved without a church home to come to the local church.

2. Their Duties.

This person must enlist assistants if this process is to be effective. He/She does this by assigning

ministry volunteers, so each assistant leader has up to five persons with which to make contact

each week. The assistant then enlists members to cultivate relationships with volunteers and

minister to their needs.

When this process works well, it has a very positive impact on evangelism results in the ministry

and essentially to the entire church family.

C. Andrei Stanciu & Oana Simionescu - The Promoter Leader & Managers of the

Champion Weekends

“Promotion refers to raising customer awareness of a product or brand, generating sales, and

creating brand loyalty. It is one of the four basic elements of the market mix , which includes the

four P's: price, product, promotion, and place.

Wikipedia.org

Fundamentally, there are three basic objectives of promotion. These are:

1. To present information to consumers and others.

2. To increase demand.

3. To differentiate a product.

Page 9: PRINCIPLES OF MINISTRY BUILDING FOR LIFE ROMANIA

The purpose of a promotion and thus its promotional plan can have a wide range, including:

sales increases, new product acceptance, creation of brand equity , positioning , competitive

retaliations, or creation of a corporate image .

There have been different ways to promote a product in person or with different media. Both

person and media can be either physically real or virtual /electronic.

In a physical environment

Promoters have used newspapers, special events, endorsements, Promotions can be held in

physical environments at special events such as concerts, festivals, trade shows, and in the field,

such as in grocery or department stores. Interactions in the field allow immediate purchases. The

purchase of a product can be incentive with discounts (i.e., coupons), free items, or a contest.

This method is used to increase the sales of a given product. Interactions between the brand and

the customer are performed by a brand ambassador or promotional model who represents the

product in physical environments. Brand ambassadors or promotional models are hired by a

marketing company , which in turn is booked by the brand to represent the product or service.

Person-to-person interaction, as opposed to media-to-person involvement, establishes

connections that add another dimension to promotion. Building a community through promoting

goods and services can lead to brand loyalty .

Traditional media

Examples of traditional media include print media such as newspapers and magazines,

electronic media such as radio and television, and outdoor media such as banner or billboard

advertisements. Each of these platforms provide ways for brands to reach consumers with

advertisements.

Digital media

Digital media, which includes Internet, social networking and social media sites, is a modern

way for brands to interact with consumers as it releases news, information and advertising from

the technological limits of print and broadcast infrastructures. Digital media is currently the

Page 10: PRINCIPLES OF MINISTRY BUILDING FOR LIFE ROMANIA

most effective way for brands to reach their consumers on a daily basis. Over 2.7 billion people

are online globally, which is about 40% of the world's population. 67% of all Internet users

globally use social media.

Mass communication has led to modern marketing strategies to continue focusing on brand

awareness, large distributions and heavy promotions. The fast-paced environment of digital

media presents new methods for promotion to utilize new tools now available through

technology. With the rise of technological advances, promotions can be done outside of local

contexts and across geographic borders to reach a greater number of potential consumers. The

goal of a promotion is then to reach the most people possible in a time efficient and a cost

efficient manner.

Social media, as a modern marketing tool, offers opportunities to reach larger audiences in an

interactive way. These interactions allow for conversation rather than simply educating the

customer. Facebook , SnapChat , Instagram , Twitter , Pinterest , Google Plus , Tumblr , as well as

alternate audio and media sites like SoundCloud and Mixcloud allow users to interact and

promote music online with little to no cost. You can purchase and buy ad space as well as

potential customer interactions stores as Likes , Followers, and clicks to your page with the use

of third parties. As a participatory media culture, social media platforms or social networking

sites are forms of mass communication that, through media technologies, allow large amounts of

product and distribution of content to reach the largest audience possible. However, there are

downsides to virtual promotions as severs, systems, and websites may crash, fail, or become

overloaded with information. You also can stand risk of losing uploaded information and storage

and at a use can also be effected by a number of outside variables.

Brands can explore different strategies to keep consumers engaged. One popular tool is branded

entertainment, or creating some sort of social game for the user. The benefits of such a platform

include submersing the user in the brand's content. Users will be more likely to absorb and not

grow tired of advertisements if they are, for example, embedded in the game as opposed to a

bothersome pop-up ad.

Page 11: PRINCIPLES OF MINISTRY BUILDING FOR LIFE ROMANIA

Personalizing advertisements is another strategy that can work well for brands, as it can

increase the likelihood that the brand will be anthropomorphized by the consumer.

Personalization increases click-through intentions when data has been collected about the

consumer.

Brands must navigate the line between effectively promoting their content to consumers on social

media and becoming too invasive in consumers' lives. Vivid Internet ads that include devices

such as animation might increase a user's initial attention to the ad. However, this may be seen

as a distraction to the user if they are trying to absorb a different part of the site such as reading

text. Additionally, when brands make the effort of overtly collecting data about their consumers

and then personalizing their ads to them, the consumer's relationship with the advertisements,

following this data collection, is frequently positive. However, when data is covertly collected,

consumers can quickly feel like the company betrayed their trust. It is important for brands to

utilize personalization in their ads, without making the consumer feel vulnerable or that their

privacy has been betrayed.” Wikipedia.org

D. Roxana Avramescu & Ema Petrescu - The Care Ministry Manager & Operations

1. Their Importance.

The Care Ministry Leader in LIFE Romania work has often been considered a somewhat

nonessential part of the organization, almost an added frill. This is unfortunate because when the

care group leaders do their jobs effectively, they strengthen the entire team. The care group

leaders have the responsibility of contacting the team members and the volunteers who have

been assigned to their group on a weekly basis. This weekly contact to all members give the

opportunity to share prayer concerns, pray with members about personal needs of the team and

church, enlist volunteers to attend Bible study, and enlist associate members to be involved in

ministry activities. All of these responsibilities are essential to creating a climate for soul

winning through the ministry activities.

2. Their Duties.

As Care group leaders contact members, associate members, volunteers, and ministry partners on

a monthly basis, they create positive relationships with members and this provides opportunity

for everyone to become more personally involved in the ministry. The care group leaders also

help to reach other volunteers by consistently staying in touch with associate members. Associate

members are persons who serve in other areas of the ministry. These youth, children, and church

leaders need the support from the LIFE Romania in many ways. When associate members are

not given fellowship opportunities and support from the team, they often burn out and go back to

their ministry and departments where they can have their needs met. This sets up a vicious cycle

Page 15: PRINCIPLES OF MINISTRY BUILDING FOR LIFE ROMANIA

because the ministry produces the leadership for the rest of the team. Since we do not recruit

anyone and enlist youth, children, or preschoolers to become full time with LIFE Romania, the

ministry must encourage the youth to leave their comfort and use their gifts in teaching youth,

children and pre-schoolers. The care group leader's’ responsibility in keeping in touch with these

associate members, therefore is important.

When care group leaders do their job effectively, they also create opportunities for building long

term relationships. Through cultivation and ministry, the care group leader has the opportunity to

witness to these persons. Through the efforts of the care leaders, members may also reach out to

family members and friends. The care group leader is a significant part of the youth soul winning

team and should be highlighted in the enlistment of leaders in each year as the team reorganizes

for growth.

When there is sickness, hospitalization, absenteeism, bereavement and other special needs of the

members, the Care Ministry Leader is responsible to contact by phone, cards, and whatever to let

them know the LIFE Romania team is concerned.

E. The Assistant Managers - David Neagu & Teo Spiridon - Managers of the Camps

1. Their Importance.

The assistant manager is an extremely important part of any effective outreach and evangelism

program through the ministry. Without clear, adequate, and correct information, evangelism and

ministry are greatly impaired. The assistants should see themselves as communicators of

information necessary for the ministry team to do its work. Each of the leaders of the outreach

ministries must have correct information on members, absentees, and prospects. They must be

able to rely on the information for correctness and timeliness.

2. Their Duties.

Page 16: PRINCIPLES OF MINISTRY BUILDING FOR LIFE ROMANIA

Assistants are much more than “nickles-and-noses” counters. They are a vital part of the ministry

outreach team and should be part of all planning for outreach and soul winning through the

ministry.

Assistants should be encouraged to write notes to members, absentees, and prospects on a regular

basis. The should keep both the leadership team and volunteers informed about ministry

assignments/involvement, announcements, and the ministry agenda.

The LIFE Romania structure is one of the KEYS to effective outreach through the ministry. If

focuses the vision, the commitments, and goals of the team on the parts of the organization

which can most effectively help achieve these objectives. Even when there is not enough space

for department periods the LIFE Romania team should be in place for the administration of

department concerns, coordination thorough weekly workers’ meetings and motivation for

outreach.

Much information has been shared about the need for youth soul winning because there is a great

need for youth evangelism in Eastern Europe and adult population is growing at such a rapid

pace.

SECTION III

II. LIFE ROMANIA IN ACTION

The LIFE Romania team at work consists of ministers, managers, leaders, teachers, assistants,

and volunteers. In most cases the key leaders of the team lead in the same way that the

volunteers do, except for the involvement of youth in soul winning. Young people are very

capable soul winners when trained to share their faith and witness. Young people should be

encouraged to witness at school and to their family and friends.

Young people want to be involved in witnessing. However, they are often like adults who fear

not be accepted if they let others know of their faith. Training youth in soul winning often gives

them confidence to share their faith with friends.

It is good to give youth an opportunity to be involved in planning to reach other young people.

They are aware of the things that will help or deter youth from coming to know Christ. Listen to

their ideas, for they are must better equipped to reach other young people than adults are.

The youth ministry is the primary agent of outreach and soul winning. It is through inviting

youth to church events and getting them in a study of God’s Word that they often open up to the

gospel message. Activities are important to youth also, but the primary place where the nurturing

and training of youth take place most effectively is through the discipleship

organization/program.

Page 23: PRINCIPLES OF MINISTRY BUILDING FOR LIFE ROMANIA

When the LIFE Romania organization is functioning effectively, reaching youth for Christ is a

natural result.

LIFE Romania exists for one purpose—to impact the world to become Christ-followers. To achieve this goal we utilize a number of different strategies, each of which falls into one of three general categories: • Evangelism - Camps & Sport Tournaments • Discipleship - Champion Weekends & DIA(discipleship in action) • Leadership Training - MIA School & Counselors training Although our primary focus is on youth camps, we have developed extensive discipleship and training capabilities to strengthen and assist the leadership of the churches in the communities from which our campers originate. We maintain a year-round schedule of events to ensure that our campers become committed disciples who are active in their local churches. The key ministry activities are as follows:

Camps:

It is our life purpose to train and equip our generation to reach the next generation for Christ!

LIFE Romania`s passion is camp ministry and discipleship. The past 15 years of our lives we

have been studying, working, ministering…searching and questioning ourselves: how does God

wants to reach Romania for Christ? We believe from all our hearts that the answer to that

question is through camp ministry and discipleship.

Why?

- The camp is one of the best methods to bring together young people from different

backgrounds and social status. Strong characters are built and upright leaders that will

make the difference of the future. Long relationships are built that help to maintain the

Page 24: PRINCIPLES OF MINISTRY BUILDING FOR LIFE ROMANIA

spiritual and psychological balance. Because of the environmental structure, the youth

can develop Christian habits that can change their lives.

- Adolf Hitler and Communism started their missions through youth camps so they can

spread their ideologies; why can't we do the same thing to the young generation with the

Word of God?

Most of young people would rather come to camp than the church. Since 1989 until now, over

90% of the people that made a profession of faith in Christ Jesus and that are members of a

church are 40 years old or younger. There are more people in churches because of the camps

than other ministries. Camps are #1 ministry that brings believers and non-believers together.

There are more chances to build a long life relationship with a non-believer through camp

ministry and to bring him to Christ or church than a one time encounter …

It is our life purpose to train and equip our generation to reach the next generation for

Christ.

_________________________________________________________________________

Did you know…

That before the fall of the Communist regime in December 1989, only 0.8% of the population of

Romania claimed to be part of a protestant religion, and today, 25 years later, only 3% claim

that.

That orthodox believers in Romania believe that everybody who is not orthodox or catholic is

not part of the “true church”.

That the orthodox priests teach that all protestants are a cult, just like Jehovah witnesses and

Mormons.

Page 25: PRINCIPLES OF MINISTRY BUILDING FOR LIFE ROMANIA

That the orthodox priests teach that if you change your religion you commit the biggest sin and

you go to hell.

Do you understand now why it is so crucial for us to focus on the youth? The youth are the ones

that have their minds open to new and represent the future of our nation.

The youth can be taught that the relationship with Christ is what matter and not religion!

Our goal is to equip the camp counselors to disciple their campers after the camp is over and for

us to follow up with them all year around. We want to use the camp as a platform for evangelism

and discipleship.

Sport Tournaments:

Many times people think that we are simply a camp ministry and that all our activities happen

during the camps. I say all the time that camps are just a launching point for our ministry and

there is a lot going on during the year.

Sport Tournaments are one of the events that we do twice a month, year around, except when we

have camps. They last for a weekend (three days) and their purpose is split into three points:

#1 - to follow up with our campers and counselors at their home town;

#2 - to connect our campers with the counselors and the local churches close bye;

#3 - to bring and evangelize their friends.

These three points help us accomplish more than this: by engaging/invite the local church in

youth ministry outreach, by promoting our strong core values for evangelism and discipleship,

and by building relationships that grow the one-on-one discipleship.

Page 26: PRINCIPLES OF MINISTRY BUILDING FOR LIFE ROMANIA

The fact that we use sports like soccer (European football), volleyball, circuit games, music &

food brings us in front of many non-believers that we share the Gospel with and then we

introduce them to the local church and to our bible study that features 12 steps of spiritual

development.

We invest many hours of work and prayer to make all these happen!

Each Sport Tournament require many logistics like transportation, promotion, sports equipment,

supplies, prizes (t-shirts, medals, diplomas, cups), food, and lodging. Our heart desire is to have a

minimum of two a month or why not three, four …

We believe the Sport Tournaments put more quality into our follow up ministry and the youth

will see the love of Jesus in a real way.

Champion Weekends & DIA:

Twice a year all the youth who have completed “The Twelve Steps of Discipleship” program are invited to attend a weekend retreat. During this retreat they are encouraged to move from being a disciple to being a discipler. They are asked to identify their own “Timothy” from their social network or from the campers who attended from their area. Discipleship in Action/One-on-One: Each camper who attends one of our events is invited to participate in a formal discipleship program called “The Twelve Steps of Discipleship”. Every person who accepts our invitation is assigned to a specific counselor who remains in contact with him/her throughout the program.

Mission – All of our staff is required to disciple one on one all those that have come in contact with our ministry through any of our events. We connect with all our campers/participants via e-mail, phone, Skype or Facebook.

Vision – We want to evangelize and discipleship the youth of Romania equipping the young man and woman to disciple the people around them.

Page 27: PRINCIPLES OF MINISTRY BUILDING FOR LIFE ROMANIA

Purpose - At Champions Weekend we challenge the people who participated in the discipleship program to identify their own “Timothies” and become a disciple maker, bringing together all the staff with their disciples and their disciples with their disciples. Plan of action – The process of discipleship involves a twelve steps program that need to be fill out personally by the disciples and then corrected and discussed with one of our staff members. MIA School & counselors training:

Counselor Training: We conduct three counselor training seminars throughout the year in order to develop and nurture the necessary skills for ministering to our campers. MIA School: - is the gym where our strong leaders become even stronger. The purpose of the school is to bring everybody on the team on the same level theologically and philosophically. MIA College builds up potential missionaries through studying courses that are vital in engaging with the young generation. The school is rewarding those that graduate with a diploma from a conservative seminary in U.S.A. We are currently developing a long-distance learning relationship with an American seminary to offer continuing educational opportunities in religious studies to Romanian students through the streaming capabilities on our website.

Pre-Evaluation Inventory – Yearly (one week prior to the Christmas staff party) Please assist me in providing a helpful and encouraging evaluation of your ministry year by answering the following questions. Please type in your response directly into this document (if you can). Thank you for your assistance. 1. During the course of the ministry year, what did you do that gave you the most personal satisfaction? What was your favorite ministry accomplishment of the year? 2. In which ministry area did you feel least prepared to fulfill your responsibilities? What would have helped prepare you better?(For example, more clarification on the expectations of your supervisor, more time to devote to the project, more funds/personnel advertising/etc. better training, less activity competing for attention, and so on.) 3. Were you disappointed/embarrassed/frustrated about anything you attempted in the course of your ministry this year? What could you have done to prevent that? What could others have done to prevent that? 4. How do you feel about the level of success you enjoyed in your ministry areas this year? How do you think others felt about what took place in your ministry area? 5. What areas would you like to improve in your own ministry over the next year? In the areas for which you are responsible but do not have direct involvement, where would you like to see improvement?

Page 34: PRINCIPLES OF MINISTRY BUILDING FOR LIFE ROMANIA

6. On a scale of 1-10 with 10 being the most and 1 being the easiest, how much did you feel you gave to your work this year? In other words, did you give it everything you had or were you occasionally coasting? (In answering this, keep in mind our emphasis on balance between family and work so that you could actually give it a 10 and still not neglect your family responsibilities. On the other hand, if you had to neglect family to give it a10, make note of that as well. If you are in doubt, ask your spouse!) 7. Are there any areas in which you think you might have run into problems this year and would like to bring out your perspective by way of noting your awareness of the situation and your thoughts on the subject? 8. Overall, how has this year been for you and why? What are you looking forward to most during the next year?
