It covers the study towards enhancement of hearing conditions for production, transmission and perception of sound on one hand and on the other hand the study towards exclusion or reduction of sound and vibration prejudicial to human comfort, health, wellbeing and productivity. The end result would be qualitatively and quantitatively assessed. The art and science of acoustics has made great strides in technical development, modern environment and human perception of sound in the environment. Dr. Lim is the Principal Consultant overseeing ACVIRON's operation for Asia Pacific Region, involving work in the fields of Acoustics, Noise & Vibration, Dynamics, Micro-Vibration, Audio-Visual and Theatrical Designs. He started working in the said fields in Australia in 1974 and returned to Singapore in 1983 and started ACVIRON in 1988. Has delivered many invited lectures locally, in China and Taiwan. He Is also a Visiting Professor at the National University of Singapore in Acoustics and Dynamics. He is also a member of several institutions namely, Acoustical Society of America, Australian Acoustical Society, Institute of Noise Control Engineers, USA, Environmental Engineering Society of Singapore and Society of Acoustics (Singapore). Acoustics is a study of hearing.
