Honourable Chief Guest DrKrishnaswamy Kasturirangan,President Board of Governors HHMaharaja Jyotiraditya M Scindia,Members of the Board of Governors,Madhav Awardees, distinguishedguests, parents, Old Boys, mycolleagues, dear students and ladiesand gentlemen, it is my privi lege towelcome each one of you to the123rd Founder’s Day of thiswonderful school.It is my utmost honour to welcomeour Chief Guest, Dr K. Kasturirangan,the chief architect of the NEP and arecipient of the three major civi l ianawards from the Government ofIndia: the Padma Shri (1982), PadmaBhushan (1992) and Padma Vibhushan(2000). It is our privi lege to welcomesuch an exceptional person today.Thank you, Sir for gracing us withyour presence.Sir , with your permission, I wouldlike to share the highlights of theyear gone by.The report covers al l areas ofacademic and co-curricularengagements as well as those aspectsof real education which isempowering the leaders of tomorrowto become the catalysts of a vibrantsocial change. As we stand in themiddle of the pandemic not sure of

what each day ahead might bring forus, we are committed to workingtirelessly towards the holisticdevelopment of our children. AtScindia we f irmly believe in re-inventing ourselves and owing to thisspirit of the school, we have remainedrelevant for the last 122 years.Academics:With academics being the prime focusof our endeavors, our effortsculminated in the record-breakingfeats of success of our students.In class XII , with a total of 69students, the aggregate result shot upto 92% with 41 students scoring 95%and above. 22 students scored 100%marks in their respective subjects.In class X, with a total of 90 studentsthe average percentage went up to88% with 44 students scoring 90%and above. These were considerablygood results which, I might humblysay, has put us in the forefront ofacademic results with reference tothe cohort of premium BoardingSchools.The pandemic has necessitated theemphasis on mental and emotionalwellbeing of students, and we haveput the primary focus on it . TheCareer Cell addressed the anxiety ofthe students, preparing and re-looking at the plans individually.

MOU with NYIF and Arizona University: It is my privi lege to share with you that theschool has signed an MOU with New YorkInstitute of Finance whereby NYIF wil l annuallyal locate two ful l scholarships of 100% tuition feewaiver for G 2020 and Young Finance ScholarPrograms. The school has also signed an MOUwith the Arizona University wherein the coursefee has been brought down drastical ly,exclusively for the students of The ScindiaSchool.Imparting emotional stability:In order to provide the much needed emotionalstabil ity to the students, ASTACHAL, the spiritualwater hole of The Scindia School, is beingconducted on 3 days per week with Guidedmeditation on one day of week with the other twodays for the usual ASTACHAL taken by theHousemaster. Special meeting of Class Teacherswith students is also being organised every week.Sports: Sports teaches us the ski l l of self-guideddevelopment. It helps us learn invaluable ski l lssuch as resi l ience, leadership, accountabil ity,respect, and patience. Thus, our motive hasalways been to expose al l students of the schoolto al l sporting arenas and special isation in oneSport. Even during lockdown, the SportsDepartment of the school has been running Yogaand Fitness Classes since the 18th of May whichcontinue ti l l date. To celebrate the success of oursportsmen, the 25th Annual Sports Banquet 2019-20, was attended by 53 students. Mr Raj inder PalDevgan, a distinguished educationist and an avidsportsperson was the Chief Guest. In theKishangarh Hockey Shield 2019 -20, Sher BahadurDahal was the Best Player from The ScindiaSchool. The Overal l Trophy was won by DalyCollege, Indore. 31st October 2019 was celebratedas the Rashtriya Ekta Diwas and the Sports event- Run for Unity and an interactive talk sessionwas organised in the school in which the entireschool participated.In the Inter-house Cross Country Race-2019,Dhan Bahadur Karki of Jayappa House broke theprevious record of the year 1978-79 by MukeshAgarwal of Jayappa House, with a new recordtiming of 10: 48: 59. Congratulations!The 80th Inter-house Athletics Meet 2019-20 washeld from 12th November to 19th November 2019. Our school also hosted the CBSE Sahodaya InterSchool U-19 Cricket Tournament from 21st to 23rdof November 2019. The Scindia School won thefinal match by 103 runs and we became theWinners. Vihaan Gupta was adjudged the Man ofthe Match.

8 schools participated in the event. Welham Boys’ Schoolbecame the Winners of SCIMUN and The Scindia Schoolbagged the Runner up trophy.The 4th Scindia Literary Fest was held in school from 16thNovember to 18th November 2019. Nine reputed authorsvisited the Fort and coloured the environs of the school inliterature, art and expression. The contingent of the Brass Band received NCC certificatesand Band Major, Yash Jain and Aryan Samil were honouredwith the rank of Senior Under Officer by NCC. Yash Jainreceived the commendation card from the Chief of theArmy Staff.In the ‘Ultimate Mathematics with BITS’ held at Bits Pilani,Chirag Rathi, Akshat Karwa and Shivansh Bansal weredeclared winners in the “Bulb Your Ideas” category.

Extra-curriculars:The extracurricular activities not only help our students tolearn how to keep commitments and manage time, but theyalso encourage our students to step outside their comfortzones, in turn expanding their skill set even further. Itfurnishes them with a sense of challenge and recognitionboth.Ishan Agarwal, Kushal Agarwal, Shubham Agarwal, IneshAgarwal and Muhstasim represented The Scindia School in aleadership training programme held in The Doon School.Satyam Raj, Ayush Goyal and Atherva Karwa participated inthe Kamla Jeevan Hindi debate held at The Doon School inwhich Ayush Goyal was adjudged the best speaker in thesecond round.The Scindia School Model United Nations Conference 2019was hosted by the school from 8th November to 10thNovember 2019.

Sameep Modi qualified for the final round of the State LevelAstronomy Quiz and visited ISRO, Sriharikota andKodaikanal.59 students qualified for the Green Olympiad conducted byThe Energy and Resource Institute at the national level.Krish Gupta received distinction and, Certificate of Meritwas received by: Karma Bhutia, Neev Agarwal, KeshavJhunjhunwala, Yuvraj Singh, Manjot Singh Sethi, PrashantAgarwal, Siddharth Chandel, Dhan Bahadur Karki, YashGupta and Saaransh Agarwal.In the National Level ‘Innoventure (Intelligence plus) 2020’,held at Pune, The Scindia School won the Best EnterprisingSchool award.Aarush Prabhu, and Vibhav Kundu, participated in the show‘EPIC IQ Challenge’.Since we understood the importance of those learningactivities that happen outside the context of a formalclassroom we ensured that our Music Society, Art Society,Dramatics both in English and Hindi, Debating both inEnglish and Hindi and Public Speaking Society lead thestudents out of the classroom to nurture and satisfy theircreativity and unleash the creative talents in them. Bhuvnesh Gonugunta participated in the 'Virtual Qriosity'National level Quiz organised by History Diaries andsecured the third prize in Madhya Pradesh. The 10th Vasant Valley School’s Aaj Tak Hindi ‘Vad VivadPratiyogita' was held from 10th - 14th August 2020. SatyamRaj was declared the Best Speaker in the preliminary roundof the Debate.The school also organized a series of literary, social, publicspeaking and cultural events to give an opportunity to thestudents to discover their unique potential. With the needfor social distancing, many of the events are being taken upvirtually but with profound enthusiasm. The 47th PlatinumJubilee All India Inter School English Debates, and the H. H.Madhav Rao Scindia Inter School Hindi Debates, weresuccessfully organized Live on the Virtual Platform andwere profusely admired. The Scindia School became theWinner of the Hindi Debate. Inter House English and HindiDebates and Elocution are being conducted on the virtualplatform and many more events are planned in the days tocome. Investiture:11 students were sworn in as prefects in the InvestitureCeremony held virtually on 29th September 2020. ChiragRathi, Aditi Joshi, Shishir Pandey, Kartikeya Kulshrestha,Aditya Tibrewala, Shivansh Bansal, Ajay Chettri, FatehvirSingh, Arya Adhikari, Irish Rohra, and Yash Jain becameSchool Prefects. Akshat Karwa and Hriday Soni were giventhe responsibility of Deputy Senior School Prefect. AngadSahni became the Senior School Prefect. All the best tothe new prefectorial team!Celebration:During the Republic Day, Mr Vishnu Agarwal (Ex-Rn, 1961),was the Chief Guest. The Senior House Reports, ValedictoryAssembly, Makar Sankranti, Holi, Ganesh Chaturthi weresome of the many occasions of celebration on the Fort,some before the pandemic and some this side of the yearwith adequate distancing norms.

Adventure:A group of 63 students along with 4 teachers- MrManoj Mishra, Mr Kamlesh Singh, Mr Chandan Baithaand Mr Dharmendra Mourya went for Kedarkanthatrek at the beginning of the year.Exchanges:James Foley from St Philips College Australia was oncultural exchange to the school.Ms Suzanne Stampa from Harald School, Norway, alsovisited the school on a teacher exchange programme.Harsh Bansal participated in the virtual InternationalGerman Youth Camp.Lalit Kumar participated in the online Youth Camporganized by In-DaF, an organisation of Germanteachers from all over the country.Service:Before the pandemic, service was done House- wiseand collectively 800 hours were devoted to this noblecause. On 26th January we organized ShramjeeviDiwas, wherein a sports extravaganza for the entireservice staff and their families was organized in theschool campus. 160 saplings were planted both insideand outside the campus to make the Fort greener.Drip Irrigation installation was put in process andcleaning of channels for water harvesting in Taals wastaken up. Digging pits for tree plantation; installingtree guards to protect saplings; Kitchen Garden-Organic Farming was done behind the BiologyLaboratory. As a part of their curriculum, studentsobserved the germination, flowering, and ‘fruiting’process of the plants. Students visited the Prayass Bilingual School for Dumband Deaf, Sharda Bal Gram (an Orphanage) andundertook activities in our adopted village of SONSA.In these unprecedented times of the pandemic, thestudents are taking up the spirit of social service intheir own cities becoming the flag bearers of theScindian ethos. Shivansh Bansal ran a social service programme with10 other members, which included sanitizing andcleaning different areas and colonies of the city, underthe Corona Fighter's initiative started by the Mayor. Chirag Rathi worked on rescuing abandoned and strayAnimals, both individually and in an officialcollaboration with an NGO (Sanjay Gandhi AnimalCare Center).Shivang Kumar and Vishnudeep Tyagi have foundedan NGO named Hotdogs which specifically aims atproviding food and medical support to the strayanimals and mainly to the dogs. They have alsoinitiated a fundraiser campaign for the same and arehoping to extend their reach through different statesfor this humanitarian deed, in the near future.

SOBA House: Old Boys, Board members, Principal, VicePrincipal, staff, retired teachers, and well-wishersgathered to take part in the celebration of theinauguration of the SOBA House. Mr Vinay Modialong with Mr RS Pawar inaugurated the newblock by unveiling a plaque and lighting the lamp.Workshops and Visits:Several eminent people visited us in the earlierpart of the year. Thereafter, we met severalaccomplished people virtually.Mr Apar Mehra, a young student of Class XII whohad suffered from the Tourette Syndrome,interacted with the students of Classes VI to VIIIon 23rd February 2020.On 30th November 2019, Mr Akhil Bansal, DeputyCEO of KMPG (an international audit firm)interacted with the students in the Assembly Hall.Students of classes VI to IX went to the MorarCantonment Army Service Corps Ground on 20thJanuary 2020, for witnessing the Army exhibition.The Principal, Dr Madhav Deo Saraswat attendeda Round Square RS Heads’ Symposium between10th - 11th January 2020. This conference broughtdelegates together to learn, share and celebratethe IDEALS of Round Square. Ms Sangeeta Jain, Dr Smita Trivedi and Mr PawanMali participated in HUBs of Learning workshopat Delhi Public School, Rairu.50 teachers attended a workshop on CBSE SpotEvaluation in MCR-1 conducted by Mr RK Kapoor.Dr Madhav Deo Saraswat, Principal, The ScindiaSchool was a part of an enriching panel discussionorganised by BW Education on Wednesday, the19th of February 2020 in Delhi.Mr Pawan Gupta (Ex-Rn, 1970), a US basedcommunications expert was on campus from 1stto 4th November 2019. He was here under theScindia Old Boys in Residence Programme(SOBiR).Ever since the onset of the pandemic, the trainingprograms for the faculty members were arrangedin phases. The School arranged a series ofwebinars for the teachers to get accustomed withthe various techniques and tools of onlineteachings; The IT Dept. of School organized atraining session for teachers on the use of MSTeams under the leadership of the IT Dean Mr R KKapoor during the first week of April; Selectedteachers from different departments attended awebinar on “Compassionate Education” (ETSTInternational conference for creatingcompassionate world together- 4th to 7th May).Faculty members attended a training session,

Workshop on Communication Skills

"Virtual Teacher Workshop” by Mr Madhukar Dhiman,the Director of Rosemount Institute on variousaspects of online teaching.Faculty members also attended a live session byMicrosoft on the features and use of MS Teams (27thMay). Additionally, all the faculty members attendedtwo sessions of training by NIIT- “Training onInnovative Teaching using ICT” and “Training onOnline Assessment” on 8th, 16th June and 3rd Julyrespectively. All the teachers further attended awebinar on “Pedagogy and Motivation” by Mr ArunKapur on 22nd June. Several teachers on the Fortparticipated in the Five Webinars conducted by thePallavan Learning Systems. New Initiatives:The first ever Legacy Schools’ Webinar was hosted byThe Scindia School, Fort, Gwalior, on 27th July 2020.The panellists included educators from eight legacyschools of India. The topic of the webinar was:‘Sharing one Best Practice’. The eight participantschools in the webinar were: Mayo College, Ajmer;The Doon School, Dehradun; Lawrence School,Sanawar; Hyderabad Public School, Hyderabad; DalyCollege, Indore; Lawrence School, Lovedale; ModernSchool, Delhi; and The Scindia School, Gwalior. Thepurpose of this alliance is to imbibe the bestpractices of each other so that collectively we cancommand a more prominent place in the schooleducation space in the country.A 'Fireside chat: How Scindia School is overcomingthe challenges posed by Covid 19' was organized in awebinar format in which Dr Madhav Deo Saraswat,Principal, The Scindia School and IT industry giantMr Rajendra Singh Pawar, (Padma Bhushan) Founder& Chairman NIIT Group and Founder NIIT University,were the panellists. It was held on 19th September2020.Achievement:Ladies and Gentlemen, it is with an extraordinarysense of pride that I share with you that Chirag Rathiof Class XII, displayed appreciable performance inthe essay writing and was ranked amongst the top atthe All India Level in the Essay Competition of ISRO,Cyberspace Competitions 2020.Gratitude:We hereby humbly acknowledge the generousdonation of Rs 1 Cr by Mr Vijay Bhargava (Ex- Ranoji,1953 – 1957) towards the SOBA House.

Old Boys:Old Boys from the Batch of 1969-70 visited the school on25th and 26th January 2020 to celebrate their GoldenJubilee Reunion. Mr Atul Gupta, Mr Vineet Bakshi, MrDilip Trivedi, Justice Sanjay Mishra, and Mr Rajiv Dharaddressed the gathering and expressed that they wereoverwhelmed by nostalgia and pride.The second and third edition of the much-awaited FGPearce Symposium- A Confluence of thought was heldon 3rd February 2020 and 17th May 2020, respectively.On the 60th Anniversary of SOBA, The Scindia SchoolOld Boys’ Association instituted a trophy for the InterHouse Quiz Competition –The ‘U C BharadwajINQUIZITIVE Trophy’ for the senior school and the‘Khurshid Lakdawala INQUIZITIVE Trophy’ for the juniorschool.New Staff:We welcomed some new staff members this year. MrAkhil Lakshmanan, Dr Ankur Jaiswal, Mr Santosh Udenia,Mr Ashish Mishra, and Mr Suvir Vij joined as the Facultyof Computer Science, Faculty in English, Head OfDepartment of Sports, Faculty of Social Studies and asan Administrative Manager, respectively. We wish thema fruitful tenure in the school!Adieu:We also bid adieu to some of our staff members-theBursar Wg. Cdr. (Retd.)
