Principals Report Wow! It is really busy now that we have drawn into the last few weeks of 2016. Teachers are finalising student reports, we have about 90 students heading off to intensive swimming every day. We have just had our visit from the life education van and we have all our new Kindergartens here today for their biggest transition Day yet. Don’t forget next Friday 9th December at 12.00pm is our Infants Presentation day. Our little people have been practising daily and are getting very excited. Our Primary presentation evening is on Monday 12th December at 7pm. Please remember it is a formal occasion so school uniform should be worn by all students attending. Our year 5 buddies are very excited that they will be meeting and playing with their 2017 kindergarten buddies today. They will also help them use the Canteen and play games with them at Recess in the infants playground. We hope they really enjoy their last Big school day until next year. Student reports will come out next week. They are in a new format which we hope will give parents more information about their child’s progress. We will also send out a survey for parents to fill in to provide feedback as to the way new reports are received by families. We hope you like the changes. Keep up with all that is happening at YPS it is really fast. Michelle Fahey Principal. School Spec Day Trip.

60 students and 4 adults set off on Friday to head to Sydney to watch the School Spectacular

This year was a new venue out at

Homebush. It was again a wonderful

performance. The finale was spectacular with very foot tapping music. We helped to make a

Guinness Book of

Records attempt of the most people in a variety show. We were successful in the attempt.

The performers were spectacular and our choir were impressive. Thanks to Miss Marple for

organising the trip. It was fantastic to go to Sydney and support our school at the Spectacular.

Thanks to all YPS students for their wonderful behaviour on the trip.

The Schools Spectacular 2016

Last week 15 students, accompanied by Mrs Waterhouse and myself, travelled to Sydney for

The Schools Spectacular. Students spent all day Wednesday and Thursday rehearsing for

the four concerts held at Qodos Arena at Olympic Park. The students experiences

performing on stage for packed audiences and were entertained themselves by the

wonderful singing and dancing extravaganza. This year The Schools Spectacular has made its

way into the Guiness World Book of Records for being the world’s largest amateur act.

During break times they were able to swim at the motel, play in the park or participate in

many interesting activities provided in the Wellbeing area.

I would like to take this opportunity to commend the students on their excellent attitude

even when tired from walking and performing. I would also like to thank the many people who

assisted with fundraising both parents and students. I would especially like to mention

Mrs Curtis who played a large role in the fundraising efforts and Mrs Waterhouse who came

to Sydney as a volunteer to help with supervision of the students. None of this would have

been possible without the efforts of these people. I personally love the experience and

know it is one that the students will never forget. If you would like to view the performance

it can be seen at 7pm on Saturday 3rd December on 7.00PM

Life Education.

We have been lucky enough to have the famous Healthy Harold visit our school this week! All clas-

ses have enjoyed the experience of meeting Harold and learning all about healthy choices, healthy

bodies, keeping safe and growing up. The students who participated received a booklet to take

home and enjoy the activities. We sure have learnt a lot about being healthy and safe individuals.

The Great Yass Spelling Bee

The Spelling Bee will be held tomorrow, Friday the 2nd, commencing at 9:30. All

parents,

relatives and friends are welcome to attend. We have held 3 official practises so far to build

confidence and the students have performed very well.

When the spellers are given their word they must say the word, spell the word then say it again.

Students are also able to ask for the word to be repeated, for the word to be pit in a sentence

or to start again.

We have 6 trophies, prize packs and a Target Gift Voucher to award the winners with. I would

like to thank Edlins of Yass who have sponsored our Spelling Bee for the second year in a row.

The students who will be competing to be Yass Public School’s best speller are:
