As part of our school attendance policy we acknowledge these students with a Gold Bee Here award each semester. To achieve this award, students had to be at school from 8:55am to 3:00pm for 98 of the 100 school days in Semester 1. We set the rate at 98% as this allows for students for students who have to go to an appointment or need to stay at home for an illness, to still be able to achieve this award. Obviously, there will be semesters throughout a student's primary education where this is not possible, however; throughout the 14 semesters from Kindergarten to Year 6 it is certainly achievable to receive this award for most students. Whilst Mullaway Primary School's average attendance rate is very good at 92%, we do have students with attendance rates consistently below 85%. This equates to 30+ days per year absent or an entire year of schooling over the seven years from Kindergarten to Year 6. Congratulations to our Gold Bee Here students! Spelling Bee Finalists from Stage 2 and Stage 3 competed in the school final for the NSW Premier’s Spelling Bee on Tuesday, July 30th. Congratulations to our Stage 2 finalists Sophie, Logan, Niah, Beau, Lara and Mya and our Stage 3 finalists Ava, Cooper, Jaxson, Tay, Oscar and Jake. After a tough competition our Stage 2 winners were Sophie and Beau and our Stage 3 winners were Ava and Oscar. These students will go on to represent Mullaway at the Regional Spelling Bee Final at Maclean Public School in September. Thank you to all the students who were involved and also to Mrs Sutherland, our Spelling Bee coordinator and to Mr Deagan and Ms Broekman for their adjudication. Sports Carnival On Friday, July 26th, we held our annual School Athletics Carnival at the Woolgoolga High St grounds. The weather was beautiful, providing a perfect backdrop to a wonderful day.
