March/April 2016 Dear Northeast Parents, I would like to start by saying thank you to all of you who took the time to come in on Monday, February 22 during Parent/Teacher Conferences to discuss your student’s academic achievement. We value the opportunity to discuss with you the shared vision of your child’s progress and future. NHS Hour has been reinstated. We have named this time during our school day, the “NHS Hour,” because we want students to achieve the ideals on what it means to be an “Eagle.” These three letters are typically recognized as Northeast High School. However, we would like the students to also recognize them as Nobility, Honor, and Scholarship. Nobility is how a student makes their school community a better place. How they treat their fellow classmates. Honor, is how they treat themselves and how they project the “better angels of their nature.” Scholarship has to do with the whole reason they come to school. Scholarship is the pursuit of their post-secondary opportunity. With NHS Hour back in the schedule, I have challenged our students in two areas. The first is their “nobility” challenge to treat each other better and use more positive and supportive language with one another. This is their part in creating a safe and supportive learning environment. Secondly, I have given them a scholarship challenge. If 90% of students at each grade level can remain “E-Free” for third marking period, then students can wear hats inside the school building for the fourth marking period. Achieving these two challenges ensures a solid learning environment for all students to succeed. Finally, your students are meeting with their counselors to finalize their course selection sheets and choose courses that will get them to their post-secondary opportunity. Soon your student will bring home their course verification sheet for you to sign. Please be sure to review the course verification sheet with your student, and make changes that you feel are necessary. This will be last opportunity to change courses for next year. Please call the Office of School Counseling if you have questions. Keep up to date with all school events by going to northeasthigh.org or joining us on Twitter @ theREALnhseagle. Dear Northeast Parents,

I would like to start by saying thank you to all of you who took the time to come in on Monday, February

22 during Parent/Teacher Conferences to discuss your student’s academic achievement. We value the

opportunity to discuss with you the shared vision of your child’s progress and future.

NHS Hour has been reinstated. We have named this time during our school day, the “NHS Hour,”

because we want students to achieve the ideals on what it means to be an “Eagle.” These three letters are

typically recognized as Northeast High School. However, we would like the students to also recognize

them as Nobility, Honor, and Scholarship. Nobility is how a student makes their school community a

better place. How they treat their fellow classmates. Honor, is how they treat themselves and how they

project the “better angels of their nature.” Scholarship has to do with the whole reason they come to

school. Scholarship is the pursuit of their post-secondary opportunity. With NHS Hour back in the

schedule, I have challenged our students in two areas. The first is their “nobility” challenge to treat each

other better and use more positive and supportive language with one another. This is their part in creating

a safe and supportive learning environment. Secondly, I have given them a scholarship challenge. If 90%

of students at each grade level can remain “E-Free” for third marking period, then students can wear hats

inside the school building for the fourth marking period. Achieving these two challenges ensures a solid

learning environment for all students to succeed.

Finally, your students are meeting with their counselors to finalize their course selection sheets and choose

courses that will get them to their post-secondary opportunity. Soon your student will bring home their

course verification sheet for you to sign. Please be sure to review the course verification sheet with your

student, and make changes that you feel are necessary. This will be last opportunity to change courses for

next year. Please call the Office of School Counseling if you have questions. Keep up to date with all

school events by going to northeasthigh.org or joining us on Twitter @ theREALnhseagle.

the opportunities that students have had in previous years. Please contact Wendy Charlton at [email protected]

for more information. All of the officers this year have full time careers as well as students involved in extra-curricular activities. Please do not let your students down.

Attention Class of 2017

IMPORTANT Senior Portrait Information Dear Rising Seniors and Parents of Rising Seniors:

Your senior year is quickly approaching, and that means it’s time to take Senior Portraits! Senior

portraits will be taken in May, July, and September at Northeast High School. Lifetouch / Prestige

will assign a date to you by postcard. NHS Yearbook works only with Lifetouch for yearbook

portraits. So even if you will NOT be purchasing photographs through Lifetouch, but you DO want

your senior portrait to appear in your senior yearbook, you should still have your portraits taken by

Lifetouch on your assigned appointment date in order to appear in the yearbook.

Remember!

If you do not have your portrait taken by Prestige, your portrait will NOT appear in the yearbook. It

costs nothing to have your yearbook picture taken, so be sure you come to school on the correct

day and time to have your picture taken even if you are not purchasing portraits. If you miss your

appointment, please come on one of the make-up days after contacting Lifetouch / Prestige.

It is important that once you receive your proofs from Lifetouch that you go online and select the

portrait that you would like placed in the 2017 yearbook. Choose ONLY a picture taken in the

traditional tux or drape with a BLUE BACKGROUND. If you select a portrait with anything other than

a blue background, the yearbook staff will choose an appropriate one for you.

Finally, please understand that the senior portrait pages of the yearbook must be completed by our

staff by the end of September. Therefore, if your portraits are not taken and selected by September

27, your senior portrait will not appear in the yearbook. If you have any questions, please contact

Monica Lynch at [email protected].

Thank you for your cooperation,

2017 Northeast High School Yearbook Staff
