Principal’s Message:
It is the time of the year when Nor-
gate celebrates your child’s progress
through the sharing of the first term
report card. Reports come home
today, Friday, December 5th. We
encourage all of you to carefully re-
view the document with your student
with an emphasis on progress. You
may want to ask:
What do you feel really proud of
because you got better at it?
What do you want to learn more
about?
What kinds of books are you
reading in Guided Reading?
What did you really like learning
about in (Science, Social Stud-
ies)?
Is there anything that you would
like your teacher to know? I can
help you talk to him/her.
Norgate School Holiday Newsletter
Our teaching team is looking forward to
discussing your child’s progress at our
first term interviews. Upon consultation
at our November PAC meeting, it was
agreed that the dates for the parent/
teacher interviews be shifted to allow
more parents to attend. The news
dates are Thursday, December 11th
and Monday, December 15th. There
will be an early dismissal at 2pm on
both days. Research shows that home/
school connections enhance student
progress!
So much news for the newsletter!!!
A special thank you goes out to our
beloved Andrew Walters for his love
and commitment to our Grade 6-7’s
and their families. We know that you
will be back!
A warm welcome back to Edie Chang
who is returning to her position as
Grade7-7 teacher after her maternity
leave.
Other neat stuff…
Check out the calendar inside to
see all of our holiday month’s
events!
Holiday Store collection has begun!
Time to check closets and storage
cupboards for new or nearly new
items that you would like to donate
for re-gifting. We also need loads of
donations of wrapping paper and
tape and bows and gift bags….
We are looking forward to seeing
you and your whole family at San-
ta’s Pancake Breakfast and Holiday
Concert on Friday, December 19th,
Happy Holidays everyone!
With best wishes,
Lisa Upton
PAC NEWS
Greetings Norgate Parents,
At the PAC's last meeting we had a re-
port from Ms. Upton regarding prepara-
tions for implementing the new curricu-
lum. We had a report from Mr. Elderton
regarding all the grants he is applying
for the school, especially regarding the
project for redesigning the courtyard.
We had a report from Fran about the
success of the after school programs,
and future after school programs.
We had a report from Ms. Morrison re-
garding what is going on in the class-
rooms. Ms. Morrison also requested
that the PAC approve a purchase of new
dodge balls, which we did.
Our parent volunteers have been hard
at work for you. Jeremy Dyson is look-
ing into purchasing the remaining iPads
to make a full class set. Kim Coleman
took on the November lunch and did a
great job. Melissa and Joe Moody have
been working diligently on the cookie
dough sale. Also, Melissa has volun-
teered to run December's PAC lunch.
Regarding the cookie dough sale, Jor-
dan Drummond in Division 7, Ms. Bou-
tin's class, had the highest sale -
$617!!!! Congratulations! You will re-
ceive a token of appreciation when the
cookie dough arrives.
