This term is always full of events such as Prep orientation, Year 7 culminating activities, swimming, Reports on Student Progress, finalizing staffing and classes for 2014, Christmas concert - all in only nine weeks. A busy term! New Before School Procedures At St Joseph’s we are always striving to improve the way in which we care for and provide for your children. This term we would like to focus on utilising the time before school in a more productive way so that it is safe for all children and supervise activities which will hopefully, put the children in a good frame of mind for the day ahead. These activities will include such things as handball, board games, reading, elastics and drawing. We would like to encourage the children to see this as a quiet time rather than allowing them to run around and get hot, especially as the weather gets warmer. I thank all parents who continue to understand and respect our policies regarding safety and supervision, and we hope that everyone will find this new arrangement helpful. A very big thank you must go to these students for the hard work they did at our school: washed and cleaned out the school mini buses, built a fire pit in the Bush Tucker Garden and painted all the tables and chairs within the school. 8 October 2013

Dear St Joseph’s Families,

A warm welcome back to the new and final school term for the year!

This term is always full of events such as Prep orientation, Year 7 culminating activities, swimming, Reports on Student Progress, finalizing staffing and classes for 2014, Christmas concert - all in only nine weeks. A busy term!

New Before School Procedures

At St Joseph’s we are always striving to improve the way in which we care for and provide for your children.

Thank You

During the first week of the holidays, St Joseph’s were very fortunate to have 10 students from St Peter Claver visit and stay at the school. While here for the week, the students immersed themselves within the community by helping out at the PCYC and running a BBQ at Cherbourg. A very big thank you must go to these students for the hard work they did at our school: washed and cleaned out the school mini buses, built a fire pit in the Bush Tucker Garden and painted all the tables and chairs within the school. The tables look fantastic. I would like to say a very huge thank you to the staff and students for all the work they completed and the way they conducted themselves during the week. Thank you staff and Year 11 students of St Peter Claver.

Persistence – Term 4 Focus: You Can Do It

This term each year level will focus on Persistence. For students, being persistent means trying hard and not giving up when schoolwork feels like it is getting too difficult or less engaging. Examples of persistent behaviour are:

• continuing to try even when school work is hard; • not being distracted by others; • checking work when it’s finished to make sure it’s correct. As parents we need to challenge our children to be more persistent. This will be particularly important as we reach the end of the year and energy levels are low.

South Burnett - School Age Care

Does school get out before your work day is done? No one to watch the children in the afternoon?

Worried about how much they play computer games or watch TV? Are the children complaining they are bored?

Want the children looked after in a safe, engaging environment?

PCYC is excited to advise that a school age care service is now available at Murgon State School. Opening hours 3pm-6pm during school term and 7am-6pm during school holidays.

Service incorporates the government CCB-Child Care Benefit, making the cost of care more affordable, whilst offering age appropriate, engaging activities.

Staff are qualified and dedicated to providing a stimulating environment, whilst working within the national quality framework, laws and regulations.
