On Monday we had a visit from BOSTES (Board of Studies Teaching & Educational Standards). They were conferencing with our teachers & students in regards to our teaching and learning during last terms trial of STEM (Science Technology Engineering Mathematics) units in every class. In K/1/2 it was Dinousaurs, in 2/3/4 it was Space and in 5/6 we did A-Maze-Ing which involved robotics. The feedback from BOSTES was extremely positive. The visiting representative praised the school for the excellent work all teachers had done in executing these trial units. The feedback the teachers and students gave to BOSTES will be used to ‘tweak’ these programs before they are released next year for all schools to teach. If your child is in Kindergarten year 1 or 2 then they also enjoyed a visit from Whizzy the Waterdrop who reinforced messages about water conservation to our young students. Tomorrow we have the Rural Fire Service coming to educate us about the bushfire season ahead. Our Kidpreneurs continue to be humbled by the interest in their win and the generosity of so many people. We have this week featured on Prime News two nights in a row. We also have 2 radio interviews lined up and yesterday the Manning River Times came to talk with the winners. Within 48 hours of being told we won we had $400 in cash donations towards helping these children make the journey to Melbourne. Then on Monday afternoon the Manning Valley Chamber of Commerce rang offering to support new and young business people in the Manning by paying the $1200 for the children’s airfares. This has been an amazing gift and means that we can utilise the $400 generously donated by members of the public towards funding taxis and meals. Thank you to everyone who has been so kind. Mrs Stewart is currently on extended leave due to her mother being very ill in hospital. Mrs Stewart has been travelling back and forwards to Newcastle to be with her. We are in constant contact with Mrs Stewart and she is missing all of the children here at school. Our best wishes are with Mrs Stewart and her family and we look forward to her return as soon as she is able. This week we welcome 3 new students. Taison in K/1, Trinity in 2/3/4 and Jermaine in 5/6. Our new friends have settled in well and are enjoying school life here at Coopernook. Jermaine, Taison and Trinity Power, welcome to CPS Yours In Education Tania Gilchrist

Well we certainly are having a busy and exciting week.

On Monday we had a visit from BOSTES (Board of

Studies Teaching & Educational Standards). They were

conferencing with our teachers & students in regards to

our teaching and learning during last terms trial of

STEM (Science Technology Engineering Mathematics)

units in every class. In K/1/2 it was Dinousaurs, in 2/3/4

it was Space and in 5/6 we did A-Maze-Ing which

involved robotics. The feedback from BOSTES was

extremely positive. The visiting representative praised

the school for the excellent work all teachers had done

in executing these trial units. The feedback the teachers

and students gave to BOSTES will be used to ‘tweak’

these programs before they are released next year for

all schools to teach.

If your child is in Kindergarten year 1 or 2 then they also

enjoyed a visit from Whizzy the Waterdrop who

reinforced messages about water conservation to our

young students.

Tomorrow we have the Rural Fire

Service coming to educate us about the

bushfire season ahead.

Our Kidpreneurs continue to be humbled by the

interest in their win and the generosity of so many

people. We have this week featured on Prime News two

nights in a row. We also have 2 radio interviews lined

up and yesterday the Manning River Times came to talk

with the winners. Within 48 hours of being told we won

we had $400 in cash donations towards helping these

Commerce rang offering to support new and young

business people in the Manning by paying the $1200 for

the children’s airfares. This has been an amazing gift

and means that we can utilise the $400 generously

donated by members of the public towards funding

taxis and meals. Thank you to everyone who has been

so kind.

Mrs Stewart is currently on extended leave due to her

mother being very ill in hospital. Mrs Stewart has been

travelling back and forwards to Newcastle to be with

her. We are in constant contact with Mrs Stewart and

she is missing all of the children here at school. Our best

Our award winning Kidpreneurs Shawn Drury, Ty

Wallace, Kaios Baker, Madie Gill, Bandy Baker and

William Harper

Prime News were here on Monday to interview the

Kidpreneurs!

Banking Day is Monday, thank you to all our banking

students who have opened accounts and are regularly

banking! The school receives a commission on every

deposit made

Safety Reminder

Can we please request that all parents refrain from doing “U turns”, or reversing at the front of the school both before and after school. Not only is it illegal due to the double lines, it is also very unsafe as there are still children crossing the road to come to school or meet up with their parents/carers in the afternoons.

Staff thank parents/carers for being so vigilant and supportive in escorting students across Macquarie Street when entering and exiting the school both before and after school.

Grasshopper News

Coopernook Grasshoppers have been busy planting

corn in their garden this week. They have also been

harvesting beetroot and broccoli and selling it to the

staff. They also have some heritage cherry tomatoes to

plant thanks to Mr Emerton. This money will go towards

their end-of-year Christmas party.

They also put together a lovely looking bird feeder and

this item is going to be varnished next week before

being sent home.

Next week sees our little group doing some cooking.

They will be making some mini-pizzas

for their lunch, so parents whose

children are involved in this group

that’s just a little reminder not to pack

too much food next Tuesday 25th
