Principal’s Message

Assalam Alaikum Dear Parents and Guardians,

I pray that you and your family are in the best of health and iman.

I would like to open this monthly newsletter with a reminder that would benefit us all, Insha’Allah:

Suhaib reported that the Messenger (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “How wonderful is the affair of the

believer, for his affairs are all good, and this applies to no one but the believer. If something good happens to him, he is

thankful for it and that is good for him. If something bad happens to him, he bears it with patience and that is good for

him.” (Narrated by Muslim, 2999).

And from the Qura’an, we learn that:

“but give glad tidings to As‑ Saabiroon (the patient).

156. Who, when afflicted with calamity, say: ‘Truly, to Allaah we belong and truly, to Him we shall return.’

157. They are those on whom are the Salawaat (i.e. who are blessed and will be forgiven) from their Lord, and (they are

those who) receive His Mercy, and it is they who are the guided ones”

[al-Baqarah 2:155-157]

Subhan’Allah, the last few weeks has really seen our patience and perseverance tested, and Alhumdulillah, it is in these

moments that I am extremely thankful to be in an Islamic school. It is in this safe space that we can speak to our students

about covid19 through an Islamic framework and lens. This truly is a blessing that few are able to enjoy on a daily basis.

As we move towards the winter break, I would like to remind us all to remain vigilant and safeguard ourselves and each

other. As I have mentioned earlier, I would like to remind us all of the following points, which, if we are able to maintain

them, we will not open ourselves and the school to any further exposures, insha’Allah.

Please ensure that you complete the student self declaration on a daily basis before sending your child to school.

Please DO NOT send your child if they are showing ANY signs or symptoms related to covid19 as we have outlined.

Please ensure that your child is FULLY dressed for the weather. This means, a winter jacket, gloves, and a warm hat.

This will prevent them getting sick with a cough or cold in class.

Parents, please limit your social bubbles and interactions as much as possible. Your actions have a direct impact on

the school.

Please discuss, model and practice hand hygiene with your children as well as physical distancing whenever possible

and encourage them to wear masks when they are in the school.

Insha’Allah, if we can all commit to these 5 points, we will all be safe and sound.

Assalam Alaikum Dear Parents and Guardians,

As we plan for return to in school instruction, the BCMA Schools recognize the unique circumstances of families and

the challenges of returning to in school instruction at this time. Thus, the BCMA Schools have created a Transitional

Learning Entry Program for K-7 for those families who, due to the circumstances and concerns regarding COVID19,

may require some time outside of the classroom and learn while at home.

The BCMA Schools Transitional Learning Entry Program will:

• Keep students enrolled in their existing school

• Have clear structures for engagement and parental involvement

• Build confidence in returning to face to face learning through connection with the BCMS school principal and staff

• Provide the option for students to return full time when parents feel comfortable to do so

• Provides opportunities for parents to attain skills and tools to support home learning

• In addition to the academic subjects, Quran and Islamic Studies instruction will be provided in a manageable

amount taking into consideration that parents may not have the specific background in tajweed and recitation for

certain segments of the Quran recitation/memorization lesson.

Sample Program Schedule

Monday Tuesday Wednesday Thursday Friday

Parent will pick up the necessary stu-dent workbooks and portfolio after-school at a pre-arranged time

Parent and Child will work through the assigned tasks appointed for the day/week

Parent and Child will work through the assigned tasks appointed for the day/week

Parent and Child will work through the assigned tasks appointed for the day/week

Parent and Child will work through the assigned tasks AND return the portfolio to school at a pre-arranged time. (This is dependent on the agreement with the teacher)

Notes: Parents/Guardian can and should email the child’s homeroom/Core Teacher if they require clarification on teaching directions/methods as well as provide notice if certain assignments are missed or delayed beyond the expected deadlines.

Transitional learning has been EXTENDED due to circumstances and rising COVID

cases, The school will reassess options as the Ministry of Education revises its

guidelines and directives surrounding the TLEP program.

• Please understand that the teacher assigned to your child may not be the same

teacher for the duration of Transitional Learning Entry Program

• Parent Support: Built into the program is an intentional connection to parents

so that they can learn tips, practical advice, and methods to help enable them

to support their children at home.

• Parents will need to dedicate substantial time for support and guidance. This

portion of the program allows teachers to liaise with parents and to provide

support and guidance for the home learning portion.

• Parents who choose to have their children return to in-person schooling MUST

let the school know of their intention 2 weeks prior to the child’s re-admission

to the physical classroom. This is to allow for the child’s teacher to prepare for

the reintegration and allow the student to be caught up to the class in two

weeks.

• Parents who decide to return back to the TLEP model must let the school know

two weeks prior to their decision in order to

allow for the child’s teacher to prepare the

same series of lessons in a parent/guardian

friendly manner and ensure additional work is

provided to strengthen the learning as they

will be missing essential concepts and

techniques that are utilized during in person

There will be a Fire Drill on December 3rd. This, together with Lockdown Drill and Earthquake Drills are required by the Ministry of Education to help keep our children safe in an emergency. For the little ones for whom it will be a first experience, your child's teacher will fully explain what will be done. The "Fire" Drill requires that as soon as the fire bell is heard teachers and students stop what they are doing. Students must remain quiet and wait for their teachers instructions. The teacher will have the students lined up and then them out of the building trough the closest exit route to them. Once they are assembled in the predetermined point of safety , teachers while check names and number of students. Once it is safe to do school teachers and students can return to the building. This is used in case of a fire in the building. It’s not something to be worried about as the school has many Fire drill practices, the students are also do it really well. We wanted parents to be aware that it is coming in case you get some questions afterwards.

There will be a Bus Evacuation Drill on December 15th. This is a safety precaution so that students will know what to do in case of an emergency. Driver designated helper must take position outside the door. Driver designated leader must guide students 100 feet (3 bus lengths) away from the bus. Driver will direct students from the front of the bus (from right to left) to follow the leader. Driver will repeat this procedure as he/she moves rearward on the bus. For the rear door, the driver will instruct students to use the sit and slide technique and guide them away from the bus as well. Driver will then walk towards the front of bus and ensure that no students have been left behind. Driver and helper will join students away from bus.

Honesty is a trait that all Muslims

must have. It is important to learn

about honesty from a young age. The

level of honesty of each individual

depends on their sincerity. A believer

is aware that even when he believes

to be all alone, that Allah(SWT) is

always there. We want to make sure

that we try our best to stay away

from being dishonest ,as we have

learned that lying is one of the signs

of a hypocrite. When we are honest

we are always rewarded, even if we

do not receive the reward now we

will get it later in the Akhirah.

Honesty at School

Be Honest with your

classmates/friends

Honest to your teacher ,if they

ask you something tell them

the truth.

Honest in the way you treat

school property.

Some questions to ask your child(ren)

• What do they think honesty means ?

• Can they come up with a lesson learned at

school, about honesty?

• Why it is important?

• Was there a time they were honest even

though they were nervous, how did they feel

after?
