TRANSPORTATION ALERT

Throughout the summer transportation will be undergoing optimization on all routes. This may result in your child(ren) to have a new route or pick up and drop off time come September 2015. Please ensure that you have subscribed to the transportation portal and frequently check it during the last week of summer holidays until the mid-September when routes should be finalized. This will also allow you to receive emails throughout the school year when buses will be delayed. The website is https://bus.rcsd.ca/. If you are experiencing difficulties logging in please email your child’s Student ID, birth date, school and grade to [email protected] for assistance.

Have a great summer everyone.

SEPTEMBER PLANS

Is your family moving? Please call the school office at (306)791-7365 if you know that you are moving over the summer and your children will be leaving St. Mary. This information is helpful when we are creating our classrooms and our class lists. When creating the class lists we take many factors into consideration including, but not limited to: class size, gender and age of each student, academic ability, maturity level, learning styles, levels of independence, work habits, physical stature, and social & emotional relationships. We consider all these factors as a team and, using our professional judgment, make the best decisions possible for all of the students involved to create effective classrooms. While it is difficult to grant parent requests concerning the specific classroom placement of their child, we do appreciate being made aware of specific student needs of which we may not be aware. We cannot promise that we will accommodate your requests, but we will take them into consideration. If you have any concerns or requests regarding your child’s placement, please forward it by email to M. St. Amand ([email protected]) and we can take those concerns into consideration as we work through the process.

With the warmer weather we want to remind students and parents that students need to dress in appropriate clothing for a Catholic School and the educational program that they are taking. Wearing appropriate clothing at school shows that we value self-respect. Examples of clothing that is not acceptable are: low cut tops, being able to see bra straps, spaghetti straps, skirts/shorts shorter than extended finger length when standing, pants pulled down to reveal midriffs and shirts with phrases or messages inappropriate for our Catholic setting. Students who come to school wearing inappropriate clothing will be asked to change into something more acceptable or be provided with a change of more appropriate attire. We thank you for your support in this.

Regina Catholic Schools

Greetings from your Regina Catholic School Division Board of Trustees!

Page 7 Sentinel News

Thank-you to all students, staff, and families for making this year at the Regina Catholic School Division an overwhelming success! It has been our pleasure to serve you as your Board of Trustees. This year’s Moving in Faith event, held on Sunday, May 24th, was a great showcase of our community coming together to celebrate faith, family, fitness and fun. Together, we raised over $1,700 for the Archdiocese of Regina’s Youth Camps and Ministries. Thank you to all families who attended and to everyone who helped make this event such a great experience. Members of our Board also enjoyed the opportunity to attend many of the exciting events at our schools this past month, including Holy Rosary Community School’s 100th anniversary, St. Francis School’s 50th anniversary, Prayer Jam at Dr. Martin LeBoldus Catholic High School, Miller Comprehensive Catholic High School’s Career Day and more. Our Board had the opportunity to meet with the CSCC representatives to discuss what lies ahead in our Building a Vision for the Future planning. We thank our representatives from our high schools, French Immersion schools, and all other elementary schools. We greatly value the dialogue and look forward to keeping you informed as we progress through the planning process. As trustees, we would like to extend our congratulations to all graduating students and we pray that God’s blessings be with them as they move on to another stage of their lives. In addition, our sincere best wishes to our retiring staff members. We thank them for their commitment and many years of dedicated service to our students and to the Regina Catholic School Division. We wish everyone a safe, relaxing, and revitalizing summer holiday and look forward to seeing you all again for the 2015 – 2016 school year.
