Week 9
Welcome back everyone to another awesome week of
learning at Broken Hill Public School as we continue to inspire,
show integrity and inclusion for all.
We are looking forward to the remainder of this term with lots
of exciting activities coming up. A reminder to keep an eye
on the term planner for events that may involve your child.
Copies of the term planner are available at the front office.
Presentation Day
Our school’s Presentation Day will be held this Friday, 7th
December at the Broken Hill High School Hall commencing at
12.30pm. I would encourage all families to come along to this
big event in our calendar to share in the success of our
students and school this year.
Could I ask that all students are well presented in their correct
school uniforms.
The children will be walking to the High School Hall at
approximately 12.00noon. This is covered by the long term
permissions previously signed.
We will also be moving recess and lunch forward on
Presentation Day. Recess will be at 10.20am and finish at
10.40am and lunch will be at 11.30am and finishing at
12.00pm.
Please be advised that the canteen will not be open on
Friday.
Please ensure your child brings a packed recess and lunch
on Friday.

It’s Hotting Up
As the weather is starting to warm up it is timely to remind families about water bottles. On
the really hot days it may pay to have a frozen water bottle that will melt throughout the
day and provide nice cool water. Please ensure it is wrapped in a towel or in a separate
bag to avoid condensation wetting everything in your child’s school bag.
Gold Awards Reward
On Thursday 13th December, children who have received a Gold Award this year will be
treated to a special reward. The Central Cinema will be showing a film in the hall between
11.30am and 1.00pm. Children will also receive popcorn and a drink (water). Please be
advised that the film may be PG rated. If you have concerns, please contact Mr Fisher.
Central Citizen
As we approach the end of the year it will be time to recognise many of our students with
the Central Citizenship Badge. This award will be presented by the Principal to students
who have attained 160 Micas, demonstrated involvement in extracurricular activities,
maintained acceptable behaviour and attendance and reached the Green level of
Rainbow Reading. Central Citizenship badges will be presented at a special assembly on
Friday 14th December at 11.20am. A congratulatory letter will be sent home to
parents/caregivers inviting them to attend the assembly. Students who achieve Central
Citizenship will be invited to attend a special lunch on the 13th December.

5/6P testing the water wheels they made in Science last week
This term Years 5/6P and 5/6J have been learning about various forms of energy. These
water wheels have been designed to lift an object (like a crane). Benevolence, Maya
and Ruby had success the first time around, but the others will have to go back to the
drawing board this week. Awesome job girls!
