Ballast Water Treatment Renovation Program
• Completed the installation of the Biological Treatment Tank (BTT) recycle pump – Currently undergoing the Functional Check Out phase
• Completed the final hookup to the Dissolved Air Floatation (DAF) BETX analyzer – Currently undergoing the Functional Check Out phase.
• Initiated testing on the Phase Extraction Technology (PET) air stripper pilot unit - Testing is ongoing
• Initiated testing on the PhotoCat pilot unit – The unit is offline awaiting resolution of reliability issues before further
testing resumes • Advanced the work on the oil/water analyzer and new DAF and BTT
sump re-route work - Project not yet completed • Continued working to install new Dissolved Oxygen and Salinity
probes throughout the BWT processes - Project on-going • Completed the tank 80 headspace nitrogen inerting system
VMT Operational Status
• BWT Tank 92 Spill– Temporary patch installed– Root Cause Analysis completed, and under review
• Smoking incident– Safety Stand-downs conducted– Investigation conducted
• Hydrotek steam cleaner incident– Investigation in process
• Otter Hospital– Set up completed in 48 hours; C-Plan compliance
requires 72 hours
VMT Operational Status Continued
• Power/Vapor “B” Boiler – Corrosion discovered during scheduled inspection– Extent of condition under evaluation
• The east potable water plant and VFF are fully operational– High turbidity from Allison Creek from the 2006 Flood
impacted the operation
• Berth 4 and Berth 5 quarterly maintenance was completed
