Anyone who has lived or spent time on this beautiful island will tell you there’s something truly special about PEI. Is it the salty sea air? The rich red soil? The sparkling blue waters? The ancient forests? The vibrant fishing villages? Or is it simply the authentically friendly people?
The “why” may always be a mystery, but the fact remains: Prince Edward Island looks, smells, and feels like a land from a storybook. It’s no wonder that Lucy Maud Montgomery penned the now-famous classic Anne of Green Gables here. The air is thick with inspiration. In fact, the idea to join nations and form what is now known as “Canada” originated here, in Charlottetown, the birthplace of Confederation.
Cradled on the waves, on the east coast of North America, sits Canada’s smallest province:
Prince Edward Island.

All parents want their children to attend the best school in a new place, but in PEI, this isn’t a concern because all schools are equally as good. All schools in our public school system are safe, inclusive, and follow the same curriculum.
There are 62 public schools across the Island for children, from kindergarten through grade twelve - six of those are French, and 29 offer a combination of English and French-immersion.
The school year in Prince Edward Island goes from early September through late June, with students enjoying a summer break when the weather is at its best, in July and August.
The Prince Edward Island International Student Program (PEIISP) is designed to support students who choose to study abroad in PEI. Learn more at PrinceEdwardIsland.ca/ISP

With a population of only 155,000 or so, on a tiny crescent-shaped piece of land in the Gulf of St. Lawrence, it’s hard to believe so much can happen here. But, it does.
Our vibrant economy is rooted quite literally to our land, as well as to the waters that surround us. We have thriving fishing and farming industries, and we’ve also found success in modern areas like bioscience, manufacturing, and aerospace. We’re coming up with new ideas and seeing them through, every single day.
Prince Edward Island is quiet, peaceful, and safe. We have the lowest crime rate in the country, quality health care, and four distinct seasons that allow for multiple sources of agriculture and a range of recreational activities. Our public schools are excellent, and we care about our communities and our neighbours. In times of need, we help each other—it’s the island way.
You can see why so many choose PEI to live, work, and further their education.

Our population is growing at a faster rate than any other place in Canada, and as we continue to welcome newcomers from all over the world, we are becoming more and more diverse all the time.
In Prince Edward Island, we value family, but our definition of family is broad. Here, family expands beyond the people who share your name. We’re all family, bonded through friendship and community.
We have big hearts, big dreams, and big ambitions.
We are an island of dreamers
and doers. Proud people who
believe we can do anything.
The proof is all around us.
