DESCRIPTION
Each year around this time we begin to turn our attention to “the holidays,” a grand phrase which means different things to different people. However, there is general agreement among most cultures that incorporated into the meaning of the phrase is the idea of gift giving - that we should give from the heart to those whom we love, rely on, or are indebted. This year’s gift guide is filled with little treasures from around the world. Some are playful; some are serious; but all are meaningful. They each have a story to tell about where they’ve been and what they mean, and why they might be selected as a gift. Regardless of their story, however, they all say I can be given from the heart.

Will this gift be interpreted correctly? Should I give the same thing to everybody or choose something personal? Should I give something with beauty, meaning, or both? However, in the midst of all these questions, there is one certainty; give from the heart and your gift will be heartfelt.
This year’s gift guide is filled with heartfelt treasures. Some are little, some are large. They come in a wide range of practicality, prices and styles. They are meaningful and beautiful, and all can be cherished year round, extending your gift giving beyond the holidays. These petit wood shrines were kept in the clay houses of rural people in Rajasthan, India!
Normally, they framed a small statue of Ganesh, the Remover of Obstacles; they might also have framed the statue of some other deity; they could even have held a small offering, perhaps a rupee or two or some flower petals.
Here, in the West they are also more than just decorative. They can be used to frame images of YOUR favorite deity; or perhaps a special charm; or even a small photograph, as we’ve done at Primitive.
