SNIA development

SNIA Green Storage Initiative draftThe initial draft Green Storage Power Measurement Specification defines a baseline standard for idle power metrics which can be applied as a uniform method for collecting idle power consumption measurements. It also includes a “Green Storage Taxonomy” for classifying storage products based on energy consumption characteristics and application environments.

On the SNIA side, the Green Power spec has been delayed by auditing issues and concerns. We hope to have it published by mid-summer now, and a copy will be out for membership vote before then.

The ISO Study Group on Green Energy IT would like to know if PrimeEnergyIT would like to participate in the ISO process, or alternatively, contribute any specification material to an eventual standard

Which plans does PrimeEnergyIT have to develop actual normative specifications?

Looking into coming up with their own specs if Industry fails to deliver
