TOURS & TREKS
about prime bhutan tours and treks
Prime Bhutan is a professional tourism company registered with numerous agencies like the Tourism Council of Bhutan (TCB), Guides Association of Bhutan (GAB) and the Association of Bhutanese Tour Operators (ABTO).
Located in the heart of the capital city, Thimphu, the company has been formed to cater to the increasing number of people visiting the country, who are special and come with distinct aspirations.
Thus, we offer several packages beginning from nature lovers, flora and fauna, to trek-kers, riders, adventures, cultural tours and rafting. Although we have our own special packages, we customize packages based on what our guests are interested in.
Bhutan has been isolated from the outside world for centuries. Today, just opened to modernization, the tiny Himalayan Kingdom with less than a million people has become the most sought after travel destination for high-end travelers. Unfortunately, only a few thousand visitors are able to make it each year as the country follows a tour-ism policy that is aimed at ensuring that its pristine environment and age-old culture from which it draws the essence of its nationhood and identity are not compromised. But for those who have been to Bhutan, the experience has been truly rewarding. It is a country that has chosen to follow a development path that is as bold as it is unique. Bhutan believes that the relentless material pursuit is anathema to the future wellbe-ing of mankind and so should instead strive to achieve Gross National Happiness rather than Gross National Product.

Tour Summary
Phallic objects – carved or painted – are found all over Bhutan. However, beyond these facades, the phallus symbolism is at the root of Bhutanese culture. They are used as amulets of luck, antidote against curse, harbin-gers of prosperity and to bestow fertility to barren cou-ples. This unique tour will take us across seven districts and two major destinations – one a visit to the 16th century “Temple of Fertility” for phallic blessings, and the other to the annual age-old naked dance performed at the 7th century temple in central Bhutan. Our route traverses through places of spectacular natural beauty as well as cultural and historical significance.

Tour Summary
The Eastern Himalayas have long been renowned for the wealth of their flora. An astonishing array of plants grow in Bhutan: over 5,400 species, including 300 species of medicinal plants, some hardy species thriving even at 3,700m above.Bhutan has one of the richest stock of orchids in the world. Of the 369 spe-cies, 82 are unique to the mountain kingdom. Bhutan claims 48 of the 1,000 species of rhododendrons found worldwide. The tropical evergreen forests growing below 800m are repositories of a unique biodiversity. The tropical vegetation of the lower zones gives way to dark forests of oak, birch, maple, magnolia and laurel. Above 2,400m altitude is the home of spruce, yew, and weeping cypress, and higher still, growing up to the tree line, is the east Himalayan fir. At about 5,500m are low shrubs, rhododendrons, Himalayan grasses and flow-ering herbs. Bhutan’s national flower, Blue Poppy grows above the tree line 3,500 – 4,500m elevation.

One of the most popular in Bhutan, this short and sce-nic trek leads up to altitudes above 4,000m yet it is not too strenuous as walking distances between the camps are fairly short. Apart from the trek’s start and end points at two of Bhutan’s most significant towns, the highlight of the tour is the beautiful lakes along the way, mountain views, and the high altitude flora.

SNOWMAN TREK
Trek Summary
The Snowman Trek is widely considered the most dif-ficult and challenging in the world. The trek beginning from the Gasa-Laya route goes into the highest reaches of Bhutan Himalayas, till Gangkhar Puensum (7,570 meters), the world’s highest unclimbed mountain. We will be camping in altitudes above 5,000m several times and on snow depending on the season. Despite the high altitude sickness and snow-blocked passes, this trek is the ultimate challenge that many have relished. The route is stunning to say the least with views of the world’s tallest mountains, a great variety of alpine flowers, numerous hot springs, and beautiful glacial lakes.
