    Primavera P6 ORA-12154 on Windows x64-bit Computers

    Following installation of Primavera P6 version 7.0, the Database Configuration may fail with thefollowing error:

    Bad public user name or password.

    Database Server Error: ORA-12154: TNS:could not resolve the connect identifier specified.

    The problem appears to be related to the Oracle Database 10g Express Edition that is installed aspart of the Primavera P6 Stand-Alonesetup.One source (there are others) of this problem has been traced to the default folders defined by theinstaller. On Windows x64-bit machines this typically starts with C:Program Files (x86)... It appearsthat the parentheses in the path cannot be parsed by the oracle connection process, leading to theerror message described above :-(

    Solution: Uninstall Primavera Client and Database Install Primavera again, BUT during the installation: At the prompt for the destination folder replace "C:Program Files (x86)OraclePrimavera P6"

    with "C:OraclePrimavera P6" (or something similar) At the prompt for the destination folder Common Files folder replace "C:Program Files

    (x86)Common FilesPrimavera Common" with "C:OracleCommon FilesPrimavera Common" (orsomething similar)
