The Tiger Who Came to Tea - Summer Term Week 1Writing Task 1 – Monday

I would like you to listen to the story and then answer the following questions:

Page 2: primarysite-prod-sorted.s3.amazonaws.com  · Web viewThe Tiger Who Came to Tea - Summer Term Week 1. This week we will be learning about the book ‘The Tiger Who Came to Tea’

Who are the main characters in the story? What happened in the story? How might Sophie have felt when she opened the door and saw a tiger?

Sophie’s Mummy needs to go shopping to refill the cupboards and replace all the things the tigers ate. What will Sophie’s Mummy need to take to the supermarket to help her remember what to buy? She will need to take a shopping list and I would like you to write a shopping list for her. What things did the tiger eat at Sophie’s house? What did he have to drink? What did the tiger eat from the table? Write a shopping list to help Sophie’s Mummy remember what she needs to buy at the supermarket. Remember that when we write a list we write the words underneath each other. When you are writing the list remember to listen carefully to the sounds in the words.

The Tiger Who Came to Tea - Summer Term Week 1Writing Task 2 – Tuesday

The tiger went to Sophie’s house for tea. Who would you most like to visit you at teatime? Have you ever wanted your favourite animal to ring the doorbell? Is there a person you’ve always wanted to meet or would your favourite teatime visitor be one of your friends? Today I would like you to write an invitation inviting that person or animal to your house for tea. Can you tell an adult what an invitation is and when we send invitations? Have you ever received an invitation? What was the invitation for?You can design your own invitation or you can write on the invitation template. Think about who you are going to invite for tea and what you will need to include on your invitation (who it is for, what you are inviting them to, where it is, what time it is at and the date) What things would you have to eat for tea? Can you draw a picture of your favourite teatime guest and some of the things you would eat?

The Tiger Who Came to Tea - Summer Term Week 1Writing Task 3 – Wednesday

Listen to the The Tiger Who Came to Tea story again. I would like you to listen carefully to the story especially the part where Sophie meets the tiger as I am going to be asking you a question about this part of the story.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wc2XxyNf4Qk Can you remember what an adjective is? Can you tell an adult what an adjective is? Well done if you told them that an adjective is a describing word. What adjectives does the author use to describe the tiger in the story? The author uses the adjectives big, furry and stripy to describe the tiger. Can you think of any more adjectives (describing words) to describe the tiger? Look at the pictures below to help you. Think about what the tiger looks like and what he would feel like if you stroked him. I would like you to draw or paint a picture of the tiger and then write sentences to describe the tiger. Remember to listen to the sounds in words and to use finger spaces, capital letters and full stops. Also remember that your sentences need to make sense.

I would then like you to choose one of the pictures on the following page and write speech bubbles for the all of the characters in that picture. What might the characters be saying? Remember to listen to the sounds in words and to use finger spaces, capital letters and full stops when writing your sentences. Also remember that your sentences need to make sense.

Pictures for Writing Task 4 – Thursday

Writing Task 4 – Thursday (continued)It is a speech bubble. Can you tell an adult what a speech bubble is used for? A speech bubble is used to show what the characters are saying. I would like you to draw a speech bubble in your exercise book or on a piece of paper. In the speech bubble, I would like you to write a sentence that Sophie might have said when she passed the tiger the chocolate buns.

Writing Task 5 – FridayWhat would you do if the tiger turned up for tea at your house? What would you give him to eat? What would you do with the tiger at your house?

You can ask an adult to pretend that a tiger is in your house. If they go on the Google website on their phone or tablet and search ‘tiger’ and then scroll down to where it says ‘Meet a life-sized tiger up close’ and click on ‘View in 3D’. The tiger will

then appear in your home on the screen.

Where do you think the tiger went after visiting Sophie’s house? What do you think the tiger did next? I would like you to write sentences about what happens to the tiger after he leaves Sophie’s house. Think about where the tiger goes, who the tiger meets and what he does next. Remember to listen to the sounds in words and to use finger spaces, capital letters and full stops. Also remember that your sentences need to make sense.
