Did you notice that we used 2 different words to mean ‘it’ in French?For le cheval, le lapin, le mouton, we used ‘il’ but for la souris, we used ‘elle’. This is because le cheval, le lapin and le mouton are masculine nouns, so we use the word for he (‘il’) in French. La souris is feminine, so we use the word for she (‘elle’) in French.
