Year 1 – Home Learning W/C 20 th April Maths Activities: Multiplication and Division https://whiterosemaths.com/homelearning/ Please explore this link for a range of Maths Mastery resources. Monday Follow Day 1 on the PowerPoint. Use objects to represent the problems on the powerpoint. (You might want to use bits of lego, cereal or counters) Read the problem carefully and see if you can put your objects into equal groups and see how many groups are made. Tuesday Follow Day 2 on the PowerPoint. Explore the problems and have a go at saying the sentences the groups represent. Have a go at making equal groups of your own using the worksheet for today! You can also pick your own numbers and have a go at making your own equal groups. Wednesday Follow Day 3 on the PowerPoint. Use what we have learned over the past couple of days and making sure we are still keeping all of our groups equal! Follow the problems on the PP and have a go at drawing the hoops and counters yourself and using the PowerPoint to check or correct your answers! Remember take your time to double check your counting. Also try your best to say sentences to describe what you have drawn. For example; There are 10 counters altogether. There are 5 groups. There is 2 in each group.

Follow Day 5 on PowerPoint. Have another go at making equal groups practically following the questions on the learning for today. Are you more confident with making equal groups?

Writing Activities: Our Topic is ‘Buildings’

Task 1 Our ‘Star of the Week’ certificate this week will be going to children who have logged on and accessed lots different learning activities on ‘Nessy’ this week! You should have received an email with your login information but if you need further support with this, just let your child’s teacher know on Tapestry and we will try our best to help where we can. It’s a super resources which the children who have already accessed have really enjoyed…so have fun!

Task 2 Please read the story attached above. ‘Shompa lives in India’. It is all about a little who is just a little bit older than you. When you are reading the story think about any similarities and/or differences you have with Shompa.

Compare your home to Shompa’s. Look at the worksheet attached. Can you use the word bank to write about the similarities and differences in your homes? Here are some areas you might want to write about:What your house is made ofHow many rooms there is in your house How we cook our food

Don’t forget we your teachers would love to see sentences that start with a capital letter and end with a full stop. We also love to see clear finger spaces and neat and tidy letters sitting on the line!

Task 3 Write a postcard to Shompa to ask her any questions you would like to know! You could ask her about what she enjoys learning at school or her favourite thing to do at home! You could also tell Shompa in your postcard what your daily routine is and tell her about your school and home! Use the postcard template attached or you can make your own.

Science How many different flowering plants can you name? Who knows the most flowering plants in your family? Use the ID tool to go out and identify as many as you can in the garden or on a walk in the woods etc. BIG SCIENCE QUESTION TO DISCUSS WITH YOUR FAMILY – which is the most common flowering plant in your garden?
