Go4Fun in Sydney Local Health District
Go4Fun is a healthy kids program for kids aged 7-13 above a healthy weight and their families.At Go4Fun kids and parents learn about healthy eating and exercise using fun, up-beat activities and games.Go4Fun also helps build self-esteem and confidence in an encouraging and supportive environment.
There is no cost to attend and no referral needed.

The Primary Schools PDHPE (personal development, health and physical education) Network is a professional development opportunity available to all primary school teachers from schools in Sydney Local Health District. The network aims to improve the confidence of teachers to deliver quality PDHPE lessons, raise the profile of PDHPE as a key learning area, and provide the opportunity for teachers within the region to network and exchange ideas. The format of the network meetings is practical and provides an opportunity for teachers to learn and practise quality games and learn skills that they can confidentially replicate in their school environment.The topic for term 3 will include the learning and teaching of fundamental movement skills (FMS) – static balance, hop, side gallop and skip.

ALNSW Coordinators, known as ‘Linkers’, work closely with people to support them to fulfil their goals, hopes and dreams. Linkers may be able to help with:

Children‘s Hospital Network (CHN) School-Link Animation ProjectHelping school teachers support children with intellectual & developmental disability & mental health issues.
In 2014, there were 8000 students in the public school system in NSW with a confirmed diagnosis of Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and approximately 15,000 students with an intellectual disability (DEC 2014).
Animation Project The Children’s Hospital Network School-Link team will present a two-hour workshop in every Local Health District (LHD) in term 3 2015. The CHN animation project aims to assist primary and secondary teachers: • Understandthatstudentswithanintellectualordevelopmentaldisability(IDD)canhave
additional mental health problems and challenging behaviour • Identifystudentswithintheirclassroomwhomayneedhelp(whattonotice)• Identifyafewbasicstrategiesforsupportingthestudentintheclassroom• Knowwheretodirectstudentswhoneedadditionalassistance.
A resource pack will be available to all participants to use upon return to their school and background information will be supplied.

Two years in the making, the redeveloped MindMatters now includes 20 online modules, each with an animation, sketch comedy, panel discussion, downloadable guides and interactive resources. The modules are complemented by events throughout Australia to help schools get started and during implementation.
MindMatters is a national mental health initiative for secondary schools developed by beyondblue with funding from the Australian Government Department of Health.
Principals Australia Institute supports schools in each state and territory to implement MindMatters.
