The Shape of Caring Review update – Lord Willis The Shape of Caring Review report, commissioned by HEE in partnership with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) has now been published. Care Certificate official launch date of 1 April 2015 The Care Certificate will begin being completed by new starters in heath or social care from April 2015. Health Education England, Skills for Care, and Skills for Health, made a number of recommendations which were agreed by the Department of Health Governance Assurance Board. The Care Certificate will replace the Common Induction standards and National Minimum Training standards. CSA Courses for GPST2 and GPST3's - 'First Pass CSA' 1 day intense courses aimed at trainees in preparation for the MRCGP CSA exam. Limited to 3-6 Registrars, the day includes focused tips and advice on how to prepare for the exam, as well as 18 role-plays with immediate feedback. Post-CCT GP Fellowship in Urgent and Acute Care The 12 month Fellowship trains a GP to be capable of practicing confidently in new roles in primary and community care, while also managing complex co-morbidity within the acute setting, in emergency departments and medical assessment units. The programme follows the NHSE Five Year Forward View, and 10 Point Plan, as well as the 2013 Hunt Recommendations for “joined up care, spanning GPs, social care, and A&E departments - overseen by a named GP.” Recruitment round closes on 1st May 2015. Safe Transfer of Medicines Stakeholders’ Event 16 April

The West Midlands Academic Health Science Network is hosting a series of events. The April event will take place on the 16th April,12.30 - 5.30pm, Post Graduate Centre, City Hospital, Birmingham. This event explores the implementation of the ‘Green Bag’ scheme. The event will include a patient story, “My experience of bringing medication to the hospital”, an introduction to the Green Bag, its uses and the possible impact of the scheme on the safe transfer of patient’s medication in a healthcare setting, an experienced-based design workshop and group-based activity. Apprentices in Primary Care Thank you for practices returning information

about their apprentices. This has created much activity with practice manager groups interested

in finding out more and how to recruit an apprentice and access the funding. HEWM have

hit their apprenticeship targets with over 100 apprenticeships coming from primary care.
