Student behaviour around the toilet block

I have met with some parents and received complaints from others via the telephone regarding the behaviours of some students in and around the toilets at school. This is deeply concerning and therefore changes are being put in place. I provide you the list of my ac ons in this area:  1. Students have been told explicitly that incidents are occurring in the toilets and that no one will be playing

around, wai ng for their friend or loitering in that vicinity. 2. I have directed Boyd to cut the trees and bushes in front of the toilet block to ensure that the duty teacher has

a ‘line of sight’ from the building area. 3. Teachers have been advised to be addi onally vigilant around supervision of students around the area.  I appreciate that this le er may be distressing and advise you to contact the school to arrange a mee ng if you wish to discuss the situa on.

Thank you to Mrs McIntyre, Mr Simpson, Mr Hartley,

Splayed leg in chickens:

Chickens can suffer from a number of issues when born ‐ there is some good news and bad news. The bad news is that one of our recently hatched chicks has splayed leg.

Chicks that hatched with splayed legs may have had insufficient moisture when incuba ng or too high an incuba on temperature. The main cause of a development in chicks a er hatching of splayed legs is a slippery floor surface, par cularly in their first few days of hatching.

The good news is that thanks to the wonders of modern technology informa on is easily accessible and a fix can easily be found. In our brooder, I have tried a number of these fixes, but finally found one which works. Take a simple band aid and tape it around either leg so the splayed leg can no longer spread outward. This corrects the problem within the bird, and the fix can be completed in as li le  me as 24 hours. Hopefully this trick may come in useful for someone else. Till next  me from the Ag plot....

HATS! HATS! HATS! There seems to be a growing number of students that have lost their school hat.

With the warmer weather, it is essen al that ALL students wear their school hat on the open school

playground during Recess, Lunch, Sport and PE.  Those students without school hats will have to spend

this  me under cover i.e. in the COLA.

New hats can be purchased for $11 at the front office.  Some parents have had their child’s name

embroidered on their hat.  This can be done at Kasper’s Embroidery in Inverell, or with Desley at the

canteen.

If your child is without a hat please see to this as soon as possible.

PRIMARY SPORT – SWIMMING

Students in Years K‐6 will be swimming every Friday during sport, beginning Friday 10th

November (Week 5). All students, except season  cket holders, are to bring in $2.00 each

week for entry to the pool.

Students must bring their swimmers to school in a plas c or waterproof bag. ALL clothing

and towels must be labelled. With the warmer weather, it is important for all students to

bring their school hats to school because they will need to wear them when walking to

and from the pool.

If your child is not going to swim on the day, they must have a note to excuse them from

par cipa ng. A permission note is also required for students in Years 3‐6 who wish to stay

at the pool a er sport.
