Traditional forms are married with contemporary building systems in this new home set in an established neighborhood of Princeton. Built on the footprint of the site’s existing house to satisfy the borough’s zoning requirements, the new home creates living spaces that are connected to the private rear yard. The pantry, powder room, and laundry were placed on the street side of the home to shield the dining room, kitchen, and living room from traffic noise. In winter months, these public areas are bathed in sunlight streaming through large south facing windows looking out to the rear yard. The interior features radiant heat under slate tiles and hickory flooring, exposed glulam beams and a natural stone fireplace that is a focal point for the main living area.
