UNDERSTANDING RED DEERThe City of Red Deer is ideally located along Alberta’s busiest transportation route, Queen Elizabeth II Highway. With an average of 47,680 vehicles recorded passing through daily (2016), the highway provides an ease of accessibility to the rest of the province and Canada. Red Deer is centrally located in Western Canada within 150km from the largest cities in Alberta, Calgary and Edmonton, and is within 400 km north of the nearest US border crossing in Carway. Red Deer’s advantageous location attracts many businesses and residents to the city.

According to the Federal Census, Red Deer has a population of 106,620 (2017), with growth rate of 10.9% from 2012-2017, making the city the third largest in Alberta and sixth largest in Western Canada. Looking ahead, the City of Red Deer is expected to grow to 115,592 by 2022.
