It has certainly been a productive, hardworking year for the students, staff and community and many special events, excursions and camps have added much excitement and lasting memories. The school has continued with its highly successful curriculum, additional and support programs, which are engaging and extend the students’ knowledge and skills. I thank the excellent staff for their enthusiasm and commitment throughout the year and have greatly appreciated all the extra’s they have performed in the aim of promoting greater opportunities and challenges for the students. I congratulate all staff for the contribution they have made to our community throughout 2018. I would personally like to thank Mark Ross, Kim Purchase, Bernie Wachinger, Adriana Oliva and Megan Nichols for their support, dedicated efforts and tireless work. As the first point of communication and contact with the school the administration staff are a huge asset to Preston West Primary School. Special thanks to all the parents who have actively supported and contributed to our school. To our School Council members (Bo Li, Mick Paskos, David Bellchambers, Ann-Marie Drakos, Luke Draper, Xiao Jiang, Diep Nguyen, Adrijana Lukic, Luke Begg and Mark Ross) we thank you for all your leadership and hard work this year. In particular, I would acknowledge the contribution made by Bo Li, our School Council president. Bo is a tremendous advocate for our school and represents the best interests for all community members. Many thanks to the Parent’s Club for their organisation of a range of fundraising activities. Their efforts throughout the year have ensured the continuation of Fresh Fruit Friday. To the many parents, grandparents and community members who have helped with guided reading, sporting activities, Fresh Fruit Friday, sick bay linen, special days, school banking, election day BBQs, Mother’s/Father’s Day stalls, lunchtime clubs and the concert – your support has been greatly appreciated. The efforts of Nicole Scherzer, Mary Seriotis and their Before and After School team has been greatly appreciated. The program they coordinate and wide range of activities is loved by the students and the care, encouragement and support the staff display is terrific. To our Grade 6 students we wish you a successful future. The staff look forward to catching up with you next year to hear about your successful transition to secondary school. The students did themselves proud at last week’s Graduation and disco and I am confident they are having a great day today at their Big Day Out at Funfields - a terrific way to finalise their last week at primary school. The last congratulations and special thank you is directed to our core business – our fabulous students. The most rewarding part of my job is visiting classrooms seeing engaged, enthusiastic students producing work of an extremely high quality. When walking throughout the school, I continue to be impressed by their application to and standards of work, creativity, friendships and their determination to achieve their best results. Thank you to our House Captains, Vice Captains, Behaviour Buddies, Environmental Monitors, Laptop/iPad monitors and Junior School Council for their efforts and great role modelling to others in all facets of school.

Assembly 2019 The first assembly of 2019 will be conducted on Monday 11th February. Our priority on Monday 4th February will be to accommodate our Prep students in their classrooms on their second day of their schooling journey. Happy Festive Season The school as a whole has had another great year and I look forward to the achievements and highlights we can produce together throughout 2019. Wishing everyone a happy and safe festive season and holiday period with families and friends. We look forward in seeing our Grade 1-6 students on Thursday 31st January and our Prep classes on Friday 1st February.

BASCP CURRENT FAMILIES

Have you re enrolled for 2019? Emails were sent out on Friday 16th November with information about how to enrol online. If you have not re enrolled there will be no guarantee of placement for your child.

eLearning As the end of 2018 draws near, the school technicians and I are starting to plan and finalise arrangements for 2019. Part of this includes setting up Google Apps for Education accounts for next year's Grade 3s and allocating JAMF Pro licenses for those that are participating in the 2019 iPad Program. Recently I sent home an iPad Program booklet. At the back of the booklet it has the forms that will indicate whether your child be participating in the iPad Program, has parental consent to create them a school based Google Apps account as well as a Digital Technologies Agreement to be signed. Regardless of whether your child will be participating in the iPad program or not, the Google Apps for Education Parental consent form and Digital Agreement is important in allowing the students the ability to participate in a range of learning through the use of the school shared devices and the Computer Lab. Can I please ask that the relevant forms are returned to the school by the end of next week (Friday, December 7). Spare consent forms are available from the school office or via Compass under 'eLearning Information' in School Documentation. If you have any questions, please feel free to ask. Regards, Luke
