    encouraged by L.S.E. t o engage in convent ional t eaching, but I init iat ed a

    senior research seminar wit h Professor Catherine Hall at t he Inst it ut e of

    Hist orical Research: Reconf iguring t he Brit ish: Nat ion, Empire, World,

    1600-1900 .

    2003-: At Princeton, I current ly deliver undergraduate survey lectures on

    Britain 1688-1815 and 1815-1945. I have also taught junior seminars on

    t ravel and t ravel writ ing in the 18t h cent ury, and on hist ory and life-

    writings, 1600-1918. I currently offer a two semester graduate seminar

    on Brit ish hist ory in a European, imperial and global context 1700 -1970,
