THE BUSIA GANG RAPE CASE; UPDATE

1.The Busia Gang Rape case came up today before the Busia Law courts;

2.The prosecution filed an amended charge sheet charging all the 6 suspects with the offences of Gang Rape and Grievous Harm respectively;

3.In addition, the Prosecution;

i. Applied and obtained warrants of arrest for the 5 suspects who are still at large;ii. Applied for Liz to be declared as a vulnerable witness and Court protective measures including appointment of an intermediary for her.

4.The Defence sought more time to reply to the prosecutions application for Court protective measures. The case was then put off to 28th April, 2014 for the Defence to reply.

5.The main trial of the case was set down for 24th June, 2014.
